Losing Salvation
by ClassAvenger ini witnessed to a jw and he accepted that salvation comes through faith only, and the works come later showing that you are a saved person.
but he continiously argues that salvation can be lost according to our behavior.
what do you all say about this?

I think that for a JW to accept that salvation is through faith is a big improvement. They would fight it to the death that it was through works and faith, but after they researched they both came to the conclusion that it was through faith only. I think I should move on now that they have accepted this, but I don't know to what to move on. Any ideas?

Losing my Religion
by yxl1 inive always considered myself a christian.
even before i was roped into the world of dubs at the age of 7, i attended a baptist church.
it never entered my mind that the bible wasnt gods word and that jesus was or wasnt the son of god.

Oh life, is bigger, is bigger than you and you are not me,
The lengths that I will go to, the distance in your eyes,
Oh no I've said too much, I set it up.Thats me in the corner, that's me in the spotlight,
Losing my religion, trying to keep up with you,
And I don't know if I can do it, oh no I've said too much,
I set it up.- REM, Losing My Religion.
Lol, pretty good song. Well, I don't know what to say. I've grown up a Christian and haven't had to face the tests you guys have needed to go through. In my opinion, these are 'tests' from God. I've always wondered how some people believe there is a God yet do not believe in the Bible. I mean, what makes up your book of rules, your conscience? Well, God bless you and I hope he gets you through this episode of your life.

I've read some books from David Reed and he explains this verse pretty good. The psalm is not predicting a future time when God will remove the wicked and give control to the just. The psalmist was telling the Israelites what they could expect to see in their own lifetime, that good men would prosper under God's blessing. For example, in verses 25 and 37 he is talking in present times and events happening in his own lifetime. The psalm contains no indication that it should be taken as a prophetic statement about the end of the world, but of the immediate benefits of good conduct. -(Paraphrased from Jehovah Witnesses Answered Verse by Verse). Thanks to alleymom for the information.

The Watchtower Society and Faith versus Works

If he is really born again he will fear God and feel sorry for what he did, but the flesh is weak and will most likely sin but not as before. I guess it just depends on how much you put yourself in the hands of the Lord so he can change you. I've seen people dramatically change in my church after they have been born-again, while others of course, keep acting like they used to. The real christians, and the ones that say they are christians.

Even demons and Satan believe that Jesus is the Messiah, but do they have faith in him? If you have faith, your works will be the fruit testifying your salvation.

Sad again at the Service Meeting
by Euphemism inthe service meeting on thursday was really saddening, particularly the last part, about preaching with boldness.
it was about overcoming nervousness, shyness, etc in the ministry.. all these people gave their experiences about difficulties they had in the ministry.
a regular pioneer (and elder's wife) admitted that she used to just pretend to ring the door bells; service is still really difficult for her, but she does it just because she feels obligated to.

I believe that their love for God drives them to do this door-to-door preaching even though it emotionally hurts them. Although they have many false doctrines and are controlled by the Org, I believe that their love for God is sincere. I know that there are those that are trying to gain their salvation through this, but others do it just to preach what they believe to be God's Word. I am not defending JWs, but I think they are pretty brave to have the courage to go to someone's door and preach. - CA

"Jehovah" in the New Testament
by robhic ini just got a return visit from a couple of jw that visited me last month.
all was very nice and friendly.
i have inadvertantly agreed to a study of sorts and figure it might be an interesting challenge for me to try out my newfound knowledge/information with them.
