Yeah, I knew one pretty well because I was one. I accepted I was gay but didn't think it was anyone elses business while I was a JW and feel really sorry for the men and women who remain JWs and endure spectacularly unhelpful speculation on their sexual orientation, sarcastic remarks and intrusive questions while adhering to a faith that tells them their inclination is wrong.

Brothers who were Gay but couldn't admit/accept it! Did you have some?
by Witness 007 ini have come to realize that being gay is something you are just born with....so why judge them if it's like being born a certain race.. a brother g_____ i knew was a zealous pioneer pushing 43 years old.
he never married though the sisters thought he was dreamy and he had plenty of offers....."she's not for me" he would always, many times tell me some excuse.
he loved to give only brothers a big hug...say if you gave a public talk or something.

Prince (the JW/singer) endorses Republicans and bashes gay marriage
by Gopher ini thought jw's were supposed to be politically neutral.
prince lives and proselytizes in l.a., and he came out in favor of the republican party and strongly for proposition 8 (the anti-gay marriage amendment that won the popular vote in california two weeks ago).. this guy is confused.
a political jw???.

Juicing: veggies & fruit.
by LouBelle ini decided to live a healthier life and get some proper vitamins into my system other than poping a pill i'd get a juicer and start incorporating juiced veggies & fruit into my lifestyle.. in the begining drinking veggie juice - even with juiced apples wasn't the most delicious thing but i have to admit that the more i do it the more i enjoy it.. i juice a whole range of veggies from carrots to beets to celery.
and it definately has made a difference.
once a month i just juice - no food.

I saw Prince on his '92 Diamond & Pearls tour, god he was good. Before he came on stage they played the video for Sexy MF a few times and so we all knew the chorus by the time he sang it live. Think me and my pals all had to lie about where we were that day....

You can effect a Tipping Point.....
by sweet pea inplease prove to me i'm not posting in the graveyard shift....... besty and i were talking about password protected and family's exit this last few weeks.
we are full of admiration for the way that they have left with dignity and obviously made many think.
they have not faded, they had a good repuation until the very last moment - mark was an elder - but they stopped and made the decision to be up front and face the elders in a meeting.

I have to agree with this
I advocate just letting go. If the org implodes it will be by it's own design and stupidity. I'm all for helping people out and I do at every opportunity. Fighting against the organization though I believe is futile and a waste of our time and energy.
I saw lots of people join and leave the JWs in my 30 years as a JW for all sorts of reasons, and am sure that will continue as the doctrines morph. The congregation I left 7 years ago is now radically different, filled with immigrant JWs and bible studies and home to 4 foreign language groups. Sometimes I feel that this here tinternet gives the illusion that there's a battle and exJWs are part of an organised army... the reality is we're as organised as the the group of apostates that stood at the District Convention gates. Creating ripples as we leave may satisfy our egos but it's not for everyone.

As of tomorrow I will no longer be a JW
by passwordprotected inafter my last post where i asked for advice on how to handle whether i should tell an elder that we've been going to church, i decided to tell a local elder who's related to me through marriage.
this was to save my dad having to 'report' me (i'd told my dad we go to church).
anyway, i had an interesting chat with him and he said some very personally revealing things re.

It's great that you and Gail feel so empowered by what's happened, long may it continue.
It's also fascinating reading the responses and the whole fade versus DA/DF conundrum. There isn't one really, it's what fits best for you. I'm not DA or DF but nor can I say I faded. Resigned as an elder one week and halted meetings a fortnight later and I'm sure I'm not the only one. My departure apparently damaged the congregation too, much tears etc and predictably some I was friends with left later. Life post JW is also a personal thing, no matter what your departure. I've come across DA and DF and faded individuals who are still defined by the JW experience, and those that aren't at all. Horses for courses.
Isn't a battle with the WT a little like the war on terror or raging against Western hegemony?
