  anyone feeling a wee bit guilty about celebrating Thanksgiving and Xmas??

  i was feeling a bit guilty about celebrating as this is my 1st year out and i know the history of all the holidays and birthdays are pagan or bloody or idolatrous.. .

  but i was thinking that it's not what someone made them in the past but what they are right now.. to us, at this moment.

  am i going to sit down on thanksgiving.. and say, "i hate those indians, think i'll go kill some"..????

  when scared jws even think about leaving the organization, they often wonder where they'll go to instead.......any responses?

  It seems to me that leaving the Watchtower is a lot like breaking any addiction. Before I quit smoking some years ago, I was afraid. I was afraid of the withdrawal symptoms & I was afraid what my life would be like without tobacco. When I finally made the plunge, I found out that, with the help of the patch, withdrawal symptoms weren't so bad and now that I'm smoke free, I'm healthier & feel a lot better. The only downside is that I'm a bit chubbier than I was, but maybe there's a message in that too.

  in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".

  the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).

  my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

  we are visiting down in province and my wife much to my displeasure on her last few visits has been donating money to the building of a new kingdom hall, of course this has been going on for a couple of years.

  well when they found out we had arrived, this elder comes around to visit and it wasnt hi how are you it was "hi i would like to offer you an opportunity to donate once again to our building fund", then he got around to asking how we were doing and were we enjoying our visit.

  A Good Escape Plan.

  i'm planning on moving out from my jw parents house in about 7 months.

  i'm trying to start a job and i already have a little money going into it (bout 2500 dollars little) however, mainly i just wanted to really know if this was the best course of action.

  my parents are the usual jw's but i do love them, however, the pressure is just building up from all their jw reasoning and pressure and guilt trips and all that mess.

  I'm delighted that you want to leave Daunt, but I think it's a sad commentary on a religion that you need an "escape plan" to leave - a good reason to do so, with or without a plan.

  It always distrubs me when people refer to criminals as "animals". It's an affront to animals because animals don't don't murder or commit other heinous crimes.

  I've never been able to understand how a group like Jehovah's Witnesses can claim to know the Bible while living in the shadow of fear. The scriptures very clearly tell us that "God hath not given us a spirit of fear" - any fear that they might feel comes from someplace other than God and there is only one place that I can think where that might be. What it really comes down to is that the REAL problem with Jehovah's Witnesses isn't what they believe about God, it's what they believe about the WTB&TS.
