Hi, My wife and I have been married for over 10 years and we have three sons. She grew up in a JW family. He sisters, brother, mother, aunts, uncles and other extended family are mostly JW. If they are not JW, they are in some other weird religion, but most of them are JW. She was the only one in her family that was not formally baptised as she rebelled against the religion when she was growing up. When she me me she told me that she did not become a JW because there were too many restrictions. When we got married she wanted to start going to the KH and then began having bible, aka Watchtower, studies. I also began studying with her until I realized what a bunch of garbage it all was and that the bible studies were nothing of the kind, but in reality were Watchtower studies. I realized that this religion is all about control and that a lot of their teachings have nothing to do with God such as voting, higher education, no facial hair, etc. My wife has been in and out of this crazy religion her whole life and she wants to start attending the KH again. I try to reason with her and have also tried to get her to read the vast amount of material on the internet and in publications that support my views, but nothing works. I try to discuss it with her nicely to begin with, but it always ends in an escalated fight. I have told her that if she wants to be involved with a cult I cannot control that, but I do not want and will not allow my kids to be indoctrinated into Watchtower servitude. I have tried everything, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you. Nonjwalltheway |

Go to college and as soon as you can leave the JW organization. I don't think that "God's Organization" would instruct you to not use your mind and learn which is exactly what the WTS teaches. I studied for almost a year, but was never baptised. One of the primary reasons I began to question the teachings is because they bashed higher education, participation in sports, etc. They were bashing things they have no clue about because they were never involved in these activities themselves. I went to school and I started when I was 23 and graduated when I was 26. I make a very good living which would not be possible without college. Do not listen the the WTS. They have been saying the end is near for over a 100 years and will be saying the end is near 500 years from now! They are full of it!

Jeannine,
Could you send me a copy of that article on higher education. I would love to show it to my JW sister in law that just received her four year degree in nursing. My email address is: [email protected]. Thanks.

WT Against Higher Education...Again
by Jeannine inthe october 1, 2005 watchtower slams higher education in a 5 page analysis on why it is better to pioneer than go to college.
i recieved this wt today and i was shocked by the statements in there.
i can fax a copy to anyone who wants it.

The reason the WTS does not promote higher education is to keep their members uneducated. Education provides people with the further ability to analyze their situation and think for themself. The WTS does this to keep its members obedient.

July convention coming
by the mole in***the mole*** i have to report the july assembly is coming.
a letter read to us last thursday advised us to stay at recommended hotels only.
we were told by the governing body that those who do not stay at recommend places are on a path to rebellion.

The reason that the WTS is telling people to stay at recommended hotels is because they are getting a kickback from the hotel. I bet they get a commission for each JW room that is rented. More rooms means more commission for the greedy Watchtower. They suck!

Facial Hair
by nonjwalltheway inwhy aren't jw's supposed to have facial hair unless it is a nicely trimmed mustache?
if jw's are supposed to follow the way of jesus why can't they have facial hair.
i know there is no biblical protocall denying people the option to grow beards.

Why aren't JW's supposed to have facial hair unless it is a nicely trimmed mustache? If JW's are supposed to follow the way of Jesus why can't they have facial hair. I know there is no biblical protocall denying people the option to grow beards. In any depiction of Jesus he has a beard so why can't JW men have beards? Since JW's think that they are God's only people, I would assume beards would be encouraged since Jesus had one.
The only reason JW's are told not to have beards is because a beard can give one a scruffy, messy look. The scumbags at the Watchtower want to have clean presentable sales people so they make up some stupid rule that their members can't have beards. They figure cleaner looking sales people will result in more sales (baptisms) and more baptisms mean more revenue (aka donations) and more sales people. What a bunch of BS. If God didn't think facial hair was necessary He would not have given us the glands to produce the hair. They are full of it. It makes me sick that people buy into their garbage and let The Borg control every aspect of their lives.

Upcoming Wedding
by ShanPatt ini hope someone might have the answer to this question for me.
i am an ex-jw, never been officially "disfellowshiped", but left the jw's 7 years ago.
i am getting married in june and my father told me he would not be attending because in his own words he "can't particiapate in anything like that".

I was raised Catholic and married my wife who came from a hardcore JW family, but she was never baptized and basically rebelled against the religion. She is close to her family now. I have tried to keep her out of that cult as much as possible.
To get to the point my sister was just married in a Catholic Church. We live in California where my whole wife's family lives and my sister and her new husband live in New York. My wife's family flew all the way out to New York for the wedding, attended the reception, but would not go to the ceremony because it was held in a Catholic Church. I found that absolutely ridiculous. Her family told me that they were "not allowed" to go into another place of worship of another religion. This is pathetic and demonstrates the pure control that the Governing Body, who are dictators, has over their subjects.
I find this religion to be damaging to family relationships and revolting in every sense. I have told my wife that under no circumstances will our children be allowed to attend any type of Kingdom Hall or other bullshit JW ceremony outside of those practiced within my wife's inner family circle. I would not want to allienate them as they did at my sister's wedding.
I hope your father sees the light of this pathetic and dominating religion.

Graduation Ceremonies
by nonjwalltheway inwhy do jw's celebrate graduation ceremonies?
a graduation ceremony is a celebration holding others on a pedestal when, according to jw policy, all honor belongs to god.
why do they celebrate graduations, anniversaries and baby showers, but birthdays are off limits.

They make policy and their brainwashed slaves do as they are told or risk being disfellowshipped. This religion should be outlawed. It is sick.
