My best friend's dad was removed from being an elder because he refused to turn his back on his kids. One of his daughters got married to a non-JW man. She was put on reproof. Long story short she caught her husband cheating on her. She left him and moved back in with her parents till she could get on her feet.

This happened in our congregation too, to a couple of Elders. One had a unbaptised daughter who got with child with an unbaptised lad. They both were shunned and the dad removed as an elder. Later the lad left her for another girl and she moved back home.

Then an Elders son was sleeping with the MS daughter, both were disfellowshipped. The Elder stepped down but the MS position was not affected! The Elder and his family soon moved away.

A friend of mine who was an Elder stepped down due to his seeing corruption in the Elder body in his cong. I dont know the details though. Later all the Elders there were removed and new ones sent to replace them. My friend soon moved away.

No Food Coolers at Assemblies!

you can't bring a food cooler to the assemblies!.

wasn't there a post quite awhile ago where someone brought this up?

i recall that someone said that for lunch they had to go out to the local mini-mart and grab a hot dog that was simmering all day on the grill!

You're supposed to leave the food cooler in the car, then go and get it at lunch time, then put it back at end of lunch. This also helps to stop people eating and drinking in the session.

is there a real science of spiritual effects?

now, before you say, "nope, it's all bullsh*t", i'm convinced that a number of truly weird/psychic things have happened in my life.

What is Theosophy?
Theosophy is "A synthesis of science, religion and philosophy", and its motto is: "There is no religion higher than Truth". Practically, Theosophy presents itself today as a vast spiritual and cosmological system which seeks to investigate and explain Cosmos and man's role herein, both on the basis of occult research (research based on extrasensory perception, be it clairvoyance, visions, telepathically received messages or memories or visions retrieved through hypnotic regression, i.e. from higher states of consciousness) which is taught by a number of Theosophical groups around the world. Had a Conversation with a Young JW Lady at the Bus Stop

there was a young blonde lady who was passing out the wt & awake magazines at the bus stop where i was waiting for the bus to go downtown..... i started having a conversation with her by starting out about charles taze russell.

i told her that of all of my readings of the works of c.t.

russell, not one time did he ever teach that jesus was michael the archangel..... so i told her about this quote....zions watchtower and herald of christs presence, their official magazine of doctrine, 1879, page 48, which is teaching on jesus christ: "...his position is contrasted with that of men and angels, as he is lord of both, having all power in heaven and earth.

What is a generation?

i think we all know about the changing definiition of "generation" by the watchtower society.

i thought i would highlight history in terms of generations.

my great grandfather was born in 1850. that would make him 29 when russell started his religion.

lol well yes, the dictionary defines a generation as the period of time between the birth of the parents and the birth of their children, therefore it is 20-40 years isn't it?

Now the org says "The Watchtower, November 1st 1995 Issue, Pages 18-20:
"Rather than provide a rule for measuring time, the term “generation” as used by Jesus refers principally to contemporary people of a certain historical period, with their identifying characteristics." (WTH does that mean? A group of people living at the same time. ahuh, so how does that change the former thinking???) Therefore, in the final fulfillment of Jesus’ prophecy today, “this generation” apparently refers to the peoples of earth who see the sign of Christ’s presence but fail to mend their ways.
No human can say when that end will be, but we know that the end of “this generation” of wicked people will come once the witness has been given to God’s satisfaction “to the most distant part of the earth.”

Ok so they are saying that those who have seen the sign of christ presence are "That Generation" What is the sign of christs presence, anyone know?

Hi Asp,

I just wanted you to know I read your post, lots of good advice here. I am currently taking zoloft, I have absolutely no side affects and I have completely normal moods now too. Before I took it, I was in that deep dark well, with the numbness and pain and clinginging to my husband as my only source of comfort. It is such a relief to enjoy simple things again, like sunsets and riding my horse and playing with my kids. Before I felt no pleasure in anything.

I had a nice life no problems no abuse in my past, however I was low in one essential chemical for normal mood, seratonin, now its better because zoloft makes the serotonin my brain naturally produces, more available to me. Its just like a diabetic taking insulin. No different in any way, just a different organ.

Go see your Dr, see a psychiatrist and get some cognitive behavioural therapy, this gives you tools to use which help as well. You will get better if you take these steps.

hi there im new here so a brief biog to say hi.

ill be a bit vague cos not sure how safe with poss jw's seeing as friends and parents still jw's and im not d'sd or df'd just stopped going.probably being paranoid.wonder why?was brought up jw did 'bad things' in teens whilst pioneering felt sick with guilt then got doubts started hanging with worldlys got grassed up by my sis for doing drugs but manage to avoid ds/da and left fairly quietly.

i live in birmingham england have been my own man for over two years but after the initial great im free feeling i guess im a bit flat now.

even some termites mate monogamously.

why is it that some animals, the minority were given this divine institution by god, but to other animals god gave poligamy, and temporary shack up for fertilisation purposes only?
