my first cars were all "manual" and they were small cars, cheap on gas.. then later on in life, i spoiled myself and bought automatic cars.. last week, i tried a manual yaris, and wasn't that comfortable with the manual transmission.
maybe it's the fact that i didn't drive a manual car in 6 years.. just wondering if anyone here after driving automatic transmission cars since many years, if you would come back to manual..

Lonleysheep, my lease just ended on my VW jetta. I absolutley loved that car. Unfortunatley, I couldn't afford the payment on the 2006 so I ended up leasing a Subaru Impreza, 5 speed manual. I love it! So much more fun to drive then the Jetta.

It wasn't all that bad as a kid JW. I just did what I was told. When I was a teenager I was miserable. Pretty typical JW or not. I hated that I could not be on the basketball team as I loved playing basketball and it was something I was darn good at. I hated not being able to have any friends. I didn't really have and wordly friends because I was not allowed to socialize with them after school. So they were basically aquaintences at school. The witness girls hated me. I was never part of thier cliques. So I really didn't make a whole lot friends in the congregation either.
I finally talked my parents into letting me join the drama class afterschool. That was the best time I had as teen. By the time I married and moved out, I was already starting my fade. I was also social retard. It took a few years for me to start functioning like a normal person. I guess it really did come as shock to me to learn that everything I was tought was lie. I took it pretty good, as I had serious doubts all through my teenage years. I was just very angry that I wasted my entire youth.
i have been married a year and a half, and everyone says the first year is the hardest.
well, the crappyness seems to be creeping right on into the second year.
i thought it was suppossed to get easier each year.
Maybe it'll take just telling him exactly how you feel.

i just heard that my nephew will not be attending high school, instead will be doing home schooling, why do jws pressure their kids into home schooling?
i really do love my nephew he is a bright kid, i think he would do really great in high school, and hopefully attend college, but i was informed yesterday that he will not be going to high school because its not safe, and besides he made the decision not to go.
i am sorry but he should go, i know what they got planned for him, home school and full time service, this is the time of his life where he needs to concentrate on his education, he will end up just like his mother, who also never attended high school, seems that when your totally lost into the society, covering all aspects of your life, that leaves you socially inept, depressed, and have a distorted view of the world.
I hit enter before I could finish what I was saying.... I have nothing against home schooling, as long as the children are allowed to be involved in activities where they can interact eith other children of different religion, cultures and interests. I know that the JW's discourage any sort of association with people other the JW's, and homechooling is thier way to to keep thier kids sheltered from real life.

This reminds me. I just interviewed a young JW for a project engineering position at my place of employment. He was 19 years old and just gradusted from a tech college/
I suspected he was a JW because
#!1 He was too far out of touch with reality. He could not answer a single question I asked him about dealing with short deadlines, difficult customers, working with people with he didn't neccessarily like... etc. It was like he hadn't set foot out of his parents house in 18 years!
#2 I asked him about his subjects of interest in high school and again not answering my question he said that he was "home schooled" and really could not pick out classes he took. That his parents had chosen most of them for him.
I then asked him how he felt about working 4-5 hours of over time a week if required. His reply.... "I am a Jehovah's Witness and I will not work O.T. Tuesday, Thursday evening or saturday & sunday. But I can work holidays except for "my holdiday" which is the memorial of Jesus Christ's Death. Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah... then he proceeds to recite a bunch of mumbo jumbo he's been trained to say.
He also informed informed that this was first job interview. Ever. I didn't hire hime of course. He wouldn't be able to hande my work wnviroment at all.
