What's The Worst Personality Trait Or Negative Quality A Person Can Have???
by minimus ini can put up with a lot of things.
but i avoid people who are "users".
you know the type....always taking, never giving, always looking to take advantage of someone......and i don't like liars all that much either.

HELP! Trying to convince my parents I am going to meetings!
by stillAwitness ina few weeks ago i posted about about how my parents have been asking about wether or not my card has been sent to my "new congregation" since i moved out in july.
up until now, i have been stalling not knowing wether or not i wanted to just come out and say "i have not been going to meetings" or not take any action at all.
well someone left an interesting piece of advice on my thread that i have been contemplating doing.that maybe, perhaps i should just have my card sent to a congregation that isn't anywhere near the actual city i live in.

StillA,
I cannot critisize you or your friend for not being honest with your parents. That would make me a hypocrite, because I hid the fact that I was dating a wordly guy from my parents for 2 years. The difference is I was PREPARED to face the consequences of my actions. I knew that eventually I would get caught, I would be disfellowshipped, and that I could very well lose my family. You know what? I paid my own way through college while working 2 jobs, and I bought car (total piece of crap). I saved every bit of monet I had. I did not expect my parents to support me in any way at all.... especially since I was lying to them. And yes eventually the sh*t hit that fan as I expected.
You keep coming here and asking for advice, then you chose to ignore it, and then a month later you come back crying about the consequences, as if you didn't know what was going to happen.
I applaud you for finally getting out on your own, finding a job and going to college, but please... start holding yourself accountable for the decisions you make and be prepared to suffer the consequences.Your a big girl now.

Convince me to move to your State (U.S. Only)
by liquidsky inmy husband and i are throwing around the idea of moving to a different state.
nothing is set in stone yet, but some changes in his career may allow for us to move wherever we like in the u.s. i love washington state, but i would like to move somewhere a little warmer.
i've lived in washington all my life and i need a little help in learning about the rest of the u.s.. so convince me to move to your state.

Wow! There is so much to choose from! Thank you all for the info.
The cost of living in seattle is very high and so are taxes, so we are pretty used to that aspect. It would be nice to get away from that, but since we are looking warmer weather, I don't think we'll be able to escape it. Unless we move to Texas. My husband and I me be able to work from home full time, so that is why wer're looking at moving to a nicer climate.
So here are my top picks:
1. Hawaii - Do I need to say more?
2. Florida - Been to florida a couple of times and absolutley love it. I don't care if there's hurricanes. I love the weather, the people & the beaches of course.
3. California - Beautiful People, Beautiful Weather, Beautiful Landscapes, Beautiful Beaches. Waaaay to expensive, but probably worth it.
4. The Carolinas - Nice beaches, houses, Beautiful landscape & architecture. Weather isn't so bad either.
5. Pennsylvania - Maybe not warm enough, but it's a pretty state. I love the architecture..
6. Texas - Warm & Cheap! Sounds like most people love it there, so I don't think it would be a bad pick.

Thanks for that Voltaire. Chicago is now out of the question. But I think you convinced me to meet your parents! =)
Averyniceguy: Northern Georgia looks beautiful! What's the weather like? Warm?
Outof theorg: I've been to Idaho during the summer and it was pretty nice. It's a little to close to Washington though. If I move, It's gonna be out of the Northwest.

So what is so great about Texas?
We were looking at real estate there last night and we could get a freaking mansion for the same amount a rambler costs here.

Welcome Lynn,
It's normal to feel lost and look for another belief syste after leaving the JW's. Most of here have gone through the same thing.
My advice to you is to just 'be' for a while. Enjoy life, yourself, your children, and just being free.
