I'm Thinking of Doing Something Drastic
by Bendrr inok, here's the deal.. way back when i got df'd i kinda went wild.
started riding motorcycles, wore rock group t-shirts, got 3 earrings in my left ear, got a tattoo, and grew my hair long.
i had to cut it once back in '93 because my employer said to.

Off with the hair/tail after all if you don't like the look you can always grow it back. The long and short of it is how you wear it and what makes you feel comfortable whether it be bald, short, long. Hair fashion don'ts: comb overs, plugs, hair club for men, velcro/snap on wigs and no (grecian formula) aka hair dyes for men. Salt & pepper, grayish hair wears best.

This isn't the 360 Furman Street property but it's within close proximity of these offices, they have a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Some JW's Easing Up On Shunning?
by Englishman ini wonder what percentage of jehovah's witnesses actually practise the shunning policy personally?
i've been df'd since 1972. since then i have encountered numerous jw's, either by chance encounter in the street or in social situations such as pubs and restaurants.
i've come across several in work situations also.

In my family shunning was seldom practiced. We always had an even amount of family members on the inside as well as the out. My DF mother and active JW aunt vacation together every year and have a wonderful relationship my JW grandmother always had christmas/thanksgiving(incognito) dinner at her house for her active children/inactive children/grandchildren other relatives. We were a zany bunch, my sister on the other has become somewhat staunch in her outlook and would lock my mother in the bathroom closet in a heartbeat if the choice had to be made between her JW family/ and her DF/DA family.

I loaned CoC out to my DA/self appointed annointed uncle a while back and during this week we had the opportunity to discuss the book I asked him to share his thoughts with me. This is what he had to say, "this one particular paragprah I marked off for you to re-read sums up/condences the entire essence of the WTBTS legacy. Chapter 6 Double Standard page 168: All this is what I find shocking. And however sincere some may be, I still find it frightening. I could not personally comprehend how grown men could fail to see inconsistency in all of this, could fail to be repelled by it, could not be deeply moved by its effect on people's lives. In the end it simply convinced me that "organizational loyalty" can lead people to incredible conclusions, allow them to rationalize away the grossest of inequities, relieve them from being particularly affected by any suffering their policies may cause. The insensitizing effect that organizational loyalty can produce is, of course, well documented, having been demonstrated again and again throughout the centuries, both in religious and political history, as in the extreme cases of the Inquisition and during the Nazi regime. But it can still produce a sickening effect when seen at close quarters in an area where one never expected it. To my mind, it illustrates forcefully the reason why God never purposed that men should excersise such excessive authority over fellow humans. I said to him, "this was an extremely difficult book for me to digest and he said, "this book is the ultimate deprogramming guide/manual". I wanted to share this conversation with you all.

I have Mehandi art done on my feet and hands during the summer. For those of us who aren't into the pain/ permanence of tattoos Mehandi is the way to go the beautifully intricate lace patterns and the lushes hues of orange/brown are fab. The design will last about 2/3 weeks. I'll post pictures in the future.
