Are observers allowed on Judicial Committee ? (WT Letter)

according to the pay attention book no observers are allowed.

how ever please note what a paragraph from the following letter says.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

to all circuit and district overseers may 6 2002 page 3 para 2.. assisting elders with judicial matters.. while it is best for a travelling overseer not to serve on judicial committees, he can assist by being an advisor when needed.

I disagree, Minimus. We are screwed only because that is the way we have been programmed. Why am I screwed? I haven't done anything wrong! Why should the WTS be allowed to set up a kangaroo court to try me when I haven't agreed to it? I haven't DONE ANYTHING! Nobody will listen. What are they going to say about me? What am I supposed to have done?

I don't go to meetings, I disagree with my husband on many doctrinal issues, I disagree with the WTS on many doctrinal issues. I do not go around telling other people to agree with me. I believe what I believe. They can believe what they believe. What's the problem?

Is there any way round this? Can anyone think of a legal reason to have a witness with you? Why should it be held in secret? Even 'worldly' courts of law allow you to have witensses, character witnesses etc. Isn't this a breach of an individual's human rights to representation? Please help me out here, as I have a JC next week.

I also wanted to know what became of the campaigns etc that were developing.

Dansk - your energy and ideas are sorely missed. I need to know what to do at the moment. I am about to take my local congregation to court because they are going to make an announcement about me. There is no way on this earth, while I still have life in me, that they are going to make an announcement to 100+ people, that I have done sommething bad and they need to avoid me. Think about it. It is so clever. They get you kicked out, but nobody can ask you about it cos they can't talk to you!

Well, I am not going to take it lying down and I am definitely going to look into all the legal aspects, including the Human Rights issue. It is a breach of Human Rights to force people to shun another person, making his/her life intolerable. I aim to go to town on this issue. I have a solicitor who is willing to act for me without chrage - what do I have to lose?

Anyone wants to join in - let me know.

The ups and downs of being a short guy

i recognized at a young age that most women prefer men that are taller than themselves.

i read somewhere that this is in part due to taller men make women feel safe and feminine.

makes sense to me.

I love short, stocky men - like weight lifters.....hmmmmmm

I think short is a real turn on - look at Al Pacino - he is only 5'5" (maybe 5'6") and he is THE BEST!!!!!

Let the shunning begin!

boy, this has just been my lucky week.

twice in one week i was the recipient of "active shunning" by former congregation members.. scene one-the local discount food place where all the blue collar folks (and a few smart upper crust ones) buy their food.

i'm busy grocery shopping and sister zealous comes marching down the other side of the aisle, dutifully studying the cans on said shelf.

Thanks Craig - but it made me so angry. If she hadn't left when she did, I think I would have exploded.

Cicatrix - you definitely have the right attitude. But how stupid and ignorant to talk to your daughter and pretend you weren't there. What a complete and utter moron that so-called sister is. She needs a swift kick up the pants.

Well, I don't even have to leave my house to be shunned.

Please bear in mind that I am NOT DFd or DAd, I am just another fade-away. I haven't been to meetings for around 8 months (I think).

My son's friend came by yesterday because they were both going bowling. His mother brought him round and waited for my son to get his gear. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner. She came into MY kitchen, sat at MY table and ignored me!!! I said "Hi" just to break the ice. She glared at me, got up and shouted to son and his mate that she would be waiting in the car and hurried to the door. Ignorant or what? Mind you, she is an elder's wife, so I suppose it figures.

Crime Rates: U.S. v. England

I personally think the crime rate in the UK is exceptionally high. We are a tiny island but crime is soaring.

It doesn't help much when innocent people get prosecuted for fighting back (happens all the time) or if you reward criminals with nice holidays abroad. The only criminals who seem to get sentenced are those who commit crimes involving money. Violent criminals seem to get off scot free.

Many people I know in the UK don't even bother to call the police any more. It isn't the fault of the police- it is the justice system (or should I say injustice system) that lets us down. The police are sick of bringing people to court, only to have the cases thrown out or for thugs to get a slap on the wrist.

25 years ago I was the vicitm of a very violent crime. The guy got 18 months!!!!

British justice stinks!
