i've heard some rather funny stories on this subject.
Marcos & Mouthy - maybe we should start a "Should have been stoned" club. Isn't that a horrible thing for a 'Christian' to say? I am so sorry for you Mouthy, that those words were spoken by your daughter. It would cut me to the heart if my daughter said that to me. I hope your daughter has softened a little and, if not, I hope she realises the truth about 'the truth' one day.

during the thocratic school during our tuesday meetings, i dreaded hearing the bell.
*ding* someone had run over 5 minutes and had to cut their talk short.. this part always disturbed me.
nevermind the fact that these people worked hard to prepare their talk about something they felt was worthwhile, they have to be humiliated and cut off in front of the whole congregation.
Well, I never got the bell. My talks were always 2 or 3 minutes because I couldn't wait to get off the platform. I would speak at lightning speed and my poor householders were always so confused. I did knock the microphone off once and I fell down the steps to the platform on another occasion - not very ladylike you see!
when a person is disfellowshipped, no one in the congregation can talk to him.
why is it that in certain circumstances that an elder can talk to a disfellowshipped person?
is there a place in the bible where it says that some can talk to df'd people and others can't?
It isn't just elders, elders' wives also talk to disfellowshipped ones in my congregation. These sisters also visit disfellowshipped ones. The whole shunning thing is ridiculous and so cruel and un-Christian that words fail me!

Does the scripture you are referring to mean we just have to separate ourselves from all false religion, because to be honest, it isn't just the JWs who have it wrong. There are lots of other cults etc out there who do bad things and hide behind the Bible. I also wonder about the name Jehovah - is it really so important to be using God's name? Some say it should be pronounced Yahweh but then, we don't know the correct way to pronounce Jesus either. I think the important thing is to separate yourself from any organisation that says it has God's blessing but which then goes on to destroy lives, tells lies, twists scripture, encourages unkind & cruel practices (ie shunning), and also tries to control people's thoughts. It is more important to be a decent, loving human being than to be making God's name known to everyone on earth. I think the best way to attract people to the Bible is by your conduct and example. Actions do speak louder than words and, personally, I am drawn to people who are warm, kind, loving, non-judgemental and honest. I don't care what their religion is.
Someone on this forum once said that God's sheep are scattered over all the earth, but he knows who they are and where they are and, when the time is right, he will gather them to him. I think that is lovely. I am really starting to understand scriptures for the first time in my life.

there have been many articles from the wt regarding their position on looking after our aged ones and the abused wives and children.
where are the houses of refuge for these ones plus retirement homes?

The reason the society does diddly for old ones, battered wives etc. is because they cannot waste their precious time and resources on such unimportant issues. The only way to really help people is to tell them about the kingdon and the new system when they will no longer feel abandoned, battered etc. If they are being beaten to a pulp every day, that's not too hard to bear when compared to the glorious new system. Surely a battered wife can cope with a few punches - the new system may be here in 5, 10, 15 or 20 years - maybe more. But surely, the prospect of living forever in a paradise earth is worth all the misery and pain they are suffering now. They may even enter the new system with the very partner who is using them as a punch-bag - what a blessing! As for old people - what are they complaining about? Don't they realise they will be young again VERY SOON - skipping about like mountain goats!
And to think I swallowed all of this once - yuk!

seems that the page view out number the posters who actually reply to the thread.. my guess is that there's alot of active jws who are still active within' the so called "truth" are visiting this forum and reading all the threads.
i don't blame them for not wanting to reply for fear of being found out.. how many of you were still active when you found a forum like this one and lurked around for a long time?
how many of you left the organization as a result of reading this forum or other forums like it?.
Someone mentioned on this board before that the 'FDS' are presumptious for thinking they are God's chosen spokespeople. When I think about it, it is blasphemous. Think about it - the old prophets of the OT told the truth as they received it from God. They were responsible and accountable for what they said. How on earth can the 'FDS' compare themselves with these ones? How dare they call themselves 'The Ezekiel', 'The Jeremiah', 'The John Class' - who do these people think they are? Ezekiel, Jeremiah and John did not make erroneous predictions and phrophesy falsely. The GB say they are NOT inspired - so how can uninspired men compare themselves to inspired men? Inspired men were given signs that they had God's approval. They were accoutable for ALL they preached and foretold. They had to weigh each announcement to see if it was God's will. Remember what Deuteronomy 18:20-22 says about false prophets!
Also, the early Christians did not have progressive light - they were taught by the apostles and believed them to be giving accurate information because it was accurate, They did not feel that their knowledge was being held back or restricted by these inspired men so that, in the future, it could be understood by uninspired men! How stupid is that? To say that the light gets brighter implies that the early Christians were in the dark - they weren't!
Plus - I hated the name 'Jehovah's Witness' - what is wrong with being called a Christian - it was good enough for Jesus' followers in the first century and onwards until the 20th century, so it is good enough for me.
Just had to get that off my chest.

came the reply,from the bethel after i had been victimized by the body of elders from my old congregation ,there was a congregational war going on within the congregation ,because i knew of the bent buisness dealings of the presiding overseer ,he then had the body of elders all except one of the elders whom had a verbal stand up fight for me ,wherby the elders familys & congregation ostracize my family as the presiding overseer used the platform to exact vengance against me,& they completed an inquisition against me,trying to dissfellowship me & shut me up permanantly because i new & saw to much concerning his bent & corrupt dealings in second hand cars.. joe little of ( st mildreds garage catford brownhill road catford london se13 ) therfore dont any one of you buy a second hand vehicle from him as it may end up with chassis numbers, ground out or it may be write of or damaged repaired) .

I could have sworn I replied to this thread. I told you (somebody?) about an elder I know who is so bent, he makes Arthur Daley and Delboy Trotter look like saints. I must have written it on another thread - I think I'm losing my marbles. Anyway, the other elders knew what he was up to - I know this because one of them told me when I queried some of his dealings which hurt a couple of sisters in the congregation. Nothing was done about him and he is still serving as an elder. That is one of the reasons why I had to break free from all this bilge - what he did (plus the cover-up) really makes me sick to the stomach! Why is it one law for them and another for us?
