why have you sought out this place?

only you know those answers, and i definitely don?t know anything about anyone, but here is the answer for me.

I think WLG's rant is spot on. I wish everyone on this site would seriously look inside and understand/admit their reasons for being here. I clearly know why I'm here. As I've mentioned before I have been out of the Borg for 20 years. I spent the past two decades living life. Even though I knew about this site and others like it a long time ago I only joined about 11 months ago. Why? Because I believe narcissistically that I can help others. I have been very blessed the past 2 decades, living an amazing life. Part of it was planned; part of it seems to be Forrest Gumpian - great adventure seemed to find me.

Within a few weeks of joining I realized this site is not for me. I stay because of a few posters and naively thinking I can still be of help to some. Here are a few typical categories based on my analysis (it is what I do BTW).

1. Those currently in the Borg but sick of it and needing help and consolation to leave. I have the utmost admiration and feelings for these. We have all been there. I wish this site had existed 25 years ago.

2. Those recently out who are trying to find their way in the world, get over the Borg's controlling influence, deal with lost family, etc. I have the utmost admiration and feelings for these. We have all been there. However, having said that, this 'stage' shouldn't last for freaking ever. After a short 2 or 3 years these individuals should have moved on to a better place in life as far as dealing with Borgian issues. And by a 'better place' I don't mean leaving this site. I mean getting past the JW and theist specific garbage which trapped all of us in the first place.

3. Those who have been out long enough (over 4 or 5 years) to have moved on to something better but stay here and make this their cyber version of the kingdom hall. Over 90% of the posts are very specific biblical, scriptural, JW crap/nonsense. The posters who typically start/post on these topics have been out long enough to have left this nonsense behind, IMHO. This group nauseates me.

4. Those who have turned this site into their own preaching and proseletyzing church. This group makes me vomit. They are no different that the GB. Only they have special knowledge and understanding of all things scripture and god. Geesh. Haven't we all had enough of these narcissistic charlatans? I don't want to mention names, but ColdSteel, AbleBodiedDude, Perry and the late Reverand Tammy come to mind. Be gone with you. High school graduates with intense bible learnin' and a direct viaduct to the make believe goddess in the sky??? Haven't we had enough of that for a llfetime?

5. Those like me, who have been out a long time, actually accomplished something in life and who feel narcissistically that we can help others to think. Rationally. Objectively. Analytically. And to sop letting emotions, feelings, beliefs and a one dimensional knowledge base control ther lives. That is my only gift to this site. Cofty, Snare, Viviane and others seem to fall into this group. We typically talk about science or de-construct bullshit posts based on nothing more than someone's high school diploma, Internet account and axe to grind (yes, I'm talking to you conspiracy theorists and reactionaries).

Ditto. And it is extremely likely that they monitor everyone's every move, word and body language for Rayisms. These men aren't so much as true believers as they are delusional paranoids. The only true belief they have is in their own narcissism.

Any strategies to deal with elders who just don't like you?

so any ways to deal or cope with elders who just don't like you (you didn't do anything wrong or they're just making stuff up about you) assuming that you can't leave?

especially when it comes to for example becoming appointed as an elder.

or are you pretty much "dead in the water" if the elders are determined to like you despite reasonable efforts to win them over.

Stop going to the KH. If you can't do that: 1. Say nice things about them to others. Try to be 'real' about the compliments, make them applicable. If you can say them in the car during FS that would be optimal. 2. When you comment at the meetings (assuming you do), try to mention them during your comments, such as "As Bro Pain in the Ass always says, . . . "

Indirect brown nosing. Works effectively and you don't have to throw up so much.

the tract at first glance does not look religious at all!!!

it looks like political information, you have to almost search for the one scripture cited.

I've viewed the links and videos. This guy has too much time on his hand. The lawyer states in his response that the pyramid replica is not on WT property; he didn't say it wasn't initially built on WT property. The 'theorist' reporter needs to determine whether the WT currently owns the plot. If they do not, the lawyer was stating correctly. That the Borg had some strange beginnings has been known for decades. That they have tried to distance themselves from these beginnings is also well known and of long duration. This is all boring shit.

The young man making the videos also doesn't understand history in general. From Wikepdia: "In medieval cities, craftsmen tended to form associations based on their trades, confraternities of textile workers, masons, carpenters, carvers, glass workers, each of whom controlled secrets of traditionally imparted technology, the "arts" or "mysteries" of their crafts. They were organized in a manner something between a professional association, trade union, a cartel, and a secret society. They often depended on grants of letters patent by a monarch or other authority to enforce the flow of trade to their self-employed members, and to retain ownership of tools and the supply of materials. A lasting legacy of traditional guilds are the guildhalls constructed and used as meeting places."

I've known members of such guilds (masons). They are a tightly knitted bunch but their 'secret's are also well known. I once sat through a 35 minute funeral speech, completely by wrote memory, given by a masonic member for one of his departed friends. It was amazing that he had committed the entire speech to memory - no notes and no ad libs. All of these members were hard working long time masons who took amazing pride in their craft, but none of them had any education beyond high school.

You can 'see' the importance of guilds and trade craft unions in early 20th Century movies, such as "The Wizard of Oz" (the Lullaby League and the Lollipop Guild). This was the world that existed when the Borg began and when the Stanely was built.

Enough already. I'm going to drink coffee. Linking such disparate 'factoids' together without understanding the issues completely and then trying to tie them all together in one giant conspiracy theory is ri-di-cu-lous. But that's what theorists do.

i'm a born in, 32 years in and almost 6 out.

i've been out of the jw's since october of 2008. i came out due to a variety of factors, blood, historical roots, false teachings etc... my older sister helped me out back in 2008 and i subsequently helped my brother exit and the 3 of us became "born again" christians.. i've been mostly lurking but occasionally posting on jwn for around 5 years.

Just in case you haven't figured it out, there isn't likely anyone on this site who thinks the JWs are god's organization. You have referenced the bible in supporting current protocols or proposed changes to the Borganization. That is exactly what has caused the problems in the past, trying to copy and paste or force dogma from thousands of years ago onto today's world as if they have relevance. The Borg can change the rules of engagement all they wish, but it is still ruled by the Dark Lords in the NY Tower. They care not a wit about people; they only care about their own status/ego/power/control. Keeping the followers under educated and throwing them an occasional feel good miracle/new light in order to keep them controlled is a time honored practice of cult leaders. They excel at it.

Their rules are much, much more important than the misled, thrown about sheep they rule over. There isn't anything christian or god-like about this evil empire and the sooner it can be thrown onto the ash heap of history the better.

Cool find. They may 'allow' a small group of translators - or whatever- to have a desk there, but this property reeks of investment opportunity likely used by the GB and their minions for vacations or while visiting or 'working' in the UK. The rank in file won't much benefit from this. Follow the money.

I'm glad you are on this site; your posts are well thought out and rational. Like you I will be glad when a person's race, ethnicity, gender or sexual persuasion not only doesn't matter but isn't given any thought. We are closer to this time than we have been. The bible's and borg's views on gays is one of the things that began my serious doubts. My children were and are very close to me, and I simply would never have eliminated them from my life if either or both had been gay. Some can continue to 'struggle' with this, but you are being too kind. It is hate. Changing from the Borg's views to my own was as simple as fllipping a swith a long time ago - when I was an elder. It nauseates me that there are too many homophobic haters amongst the ex-Dubs on this site. Thankfully most ex-Dubs appear to have moved on from the hate.

It is a simple process. Let it go haters. Let it go. You can cloak it all you wish in the dark recesses of your minds, but it is hate.
