In the entire history of the church nobody has ever explained the trinity without contradicting themself or resorting to double-talk.

Most churches will teach something similar to the Athanasian Creed:
And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the Persons; nor dividing the Essence. For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one; the Glory equal, the Majesty coeternal. Such as the Father is; such is the Son; and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreated; the Son uncreated; and the Holy Ghost uncreated. The Father unlimited; the Son unlimited; and the Holy Ghost unlimited. The Father eternal; the Son eternal; and the Holy Ghost eternal. And yet they are not three eternals; but one eternal. As also there are not three uncreated; nor three infinites, but one uncreated; and one infinite. So likewise the Father is Almighty; the Son Almighty; and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighties; but one Almighty. So the Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet they are not three Gods; but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord; the Son Lord; and the Holy Ghost Lord. And yet not three Lords; but one Lord. For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity; to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord; So are we forbidden by the catholic religion; to say, There are three Gods, or three Lords. The Father is made of none; neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone; not made, nor created; but begotten. The Holy Ghost is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten; but proceeding. So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Ghost, not three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is before, or after another; none is greater, or less than another. But the whole three Persons are coeternal, and coequal. So that in all things, as aforesaid; the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity, is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved, let him thus think of the Trinity.

How often do you see the Witnesses out on the ministry?
by rory-ks ini only ask because i hardly ever see them out on the ministry.
it is a very rare sighting to spot them actively engaged in the house to house ministry.
or out on the street work, in the marketplace, etc.. the other reason i ask is because they are constantly pictured as being on the preaching work.

Where is Jesus according to the WBTS?
by Frazzled UBM ini have been reverse witnessing to a witness at work who i told about my witness wife.
i think he thinks he is well on his way to make me a study but i have asked him to provide evidence that the wbrts is what it claims to be by reference to how it was appointed and how the current gb came to inherit that authority.
but one issue we ahd was the position of jesus accordign to the wbts and he said that he sits in heaven at the right hand of jehovah planning the future.

The invisible return is an odd phrase that doesn't quite fit the doctrine, it basically means Jesus was made king in Heaven in 1914, which might be where he tries to take the discussion.
I might point him to the end of Matthew where Jesus says he has been given all authority (past tense) and will be with his disciples till the end of the age (present tense) and ask what the difference between his presence and authority in the first century is as compared to 1914.

March of the world powers in DANIEL 2. Proof the Bible is the inspired word of God. Wadda ya think?
by punkofnice in.
how would you answer the jw that says that the vision of daniel predicting world powers into the future (where the toes have no significance according to the wbt$), is proof of the inspired prophecy in the bible?.
could it be that the 'powers' are not actually named and can be interpreted any way you want?.

JWs say that Jehovah doesn't look into the future as doing so takes away our free will and makes Jehovah responsible for our evil choices.
Yet through Daniel (according to JWs) Jehovah prophesied the rise of Naziism, thus guaranteeing it would happen (since his prophesies can't fail) which according to JW logic makes Jehovah responsible for WW2.

"Deep down inside even they know it is BS." Discuss
by rory-ks innope, bungi bill's interesting statement from this post didn't take, so i'll start its own.. from my own experience, i hated the field ministry.
it might just be because of the kind of character i am, whatever, i never was able to overcome that feeling of dread every time i went door-to-door.
i felt aware of how much people disliked having strangers cold-calling trying to sell them something.

I'm not sure they know it's BS, but certainly many of them are not nearly as confident as they appear. The fear and loathing of apostates is rooted in this concern, I think.

If you truly beleive in the flood of noahs Day ,do you think he would have as apathetic as jehovahs witnesses are today in warning people?
by smiddy indo jehovahs witnesses honestly, sincerely beleive that the end of this system of things is just around the corner, and that they have the role of warning all of mankind of what is to befall them .?
so why is their ministry so blasaise ?
knock on the door ,no body comes knock on the door again nobody comes ?

Does the bible actually say that Noah preached? I think that might have been something the JWs made up.

The society gets to rent out district convention sites for free!!!??
by EndofMysteries inlook what i just found.... "the jehovahs witness convention, christian congregation was approved for a $30,000 grant to offset the cost of renting veterans memorial arena july 4-6 and july 18-20.".
http://www.jaxdailyrecord.com/showstory.php?story_id=542296.
i wonder how much are they charged for that event or if it ends up being close to free since the city will say it will generate revenue for the city.

The DC Hall in my home town is owned by the government and rented out for free due to the benefit the thousands of visiting JWs bring to the economy.

One Can Be Spiritual With or Without Religions!
by exWTslave inbehind all the details in the bible lies the absolute truth: love is the true religion.
(james 1:27) [conversely, self-serving is false religion.colossians 3:5] that means god is not a factor in the true worship.
(habakkuk 2:4) his attitude is that if you are good, it is good for you; and if you do bad, it is bad for you.

I may be alone but I do not agree with much of this thread (sorry exwtslave)
Kindness is always good of course, and I'm sure Diana is delightful, but if there's one thing I learnt as a JW it's that working to make God approve of you is just painful. Of course if you put that energy into loving others it will be more fulfilling than placing magazines but you still run into those same barriers at some point. 'Am I good enough?' 'Am I humane enough?' 'What does God make of my failures?'etc...
No thank you, I've been down that road and it only brings despair...

it isn't something that can be replicated on the internet.
a first year student can find the law.

So several days ago some poser on the Internet told you you were wrong and you've just now decided that this is so outrageous that you need to leave? How very odd.
