I've been to Rouen, most famous as the place where Joan of Arc was burned at the stake.

Is it kind of funny that JWs don't give Jesus resurrection day any notice?
by Comatose inif you think about it, for a die hard christian the day jesus was supposed to be resurrected and back in heaven, thereby fulfilling his earthly mission, is a very big day.
all the jws i know never even thought about it.
in fact if i had mentioned it, i bet they would have looked me at strangely.

Jesus' resurrection is irrelevant to JW atonement theology, it's just a nice thing Jehovah did but not something that had any bearing on the ransom payment.
we are commended to keep the memorial not a feast because of the resurrection
You were actually commanded to eat bread and drink wine in memorial of Jesus death, but v ery few JWs actually do that.

Who is the mediator for the R&F now?
by nonjwspouse inhas this been changed?
i thought this might need a new thread.. the memorials i have heard about multiple ones noted the prayer ending with something like "jesus our mediator".. sams on another thread :.
nonjwspouse: sahs, so has it now been stated that jesus is only the mediator for the fds, not all the anointed as was previously?.

Hi nonjwspouse, as per our discussion the chairman at the memorial I went to offered the opening prayer 'through Jesus Christ our mediator. Amen' it was a mistake, and I wondered if anyone else in the audience apart from me noticed it.
It's a good example of how JWs believe anything the Society tells them, over and above what the bible actually says.

Why did Jesus tell the convict on the cross next to his, that he would be joining him in Heaven TODAY??
by Faithful Witness inmaybe a silly question, but i'm curious about this part of the story of christ's crucifixion, when the 1 thief challenges jesus to save himself and "us too" from their deaths, but the 2nd thief rebukes him and pleads with jesus... .
luke 23:42-43: and he said unto jesus, lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
and jesus said unto him, verily i say unto thee, today shalt thou be with me in paradise.. .

one thing is certain... Jesus himself was not in heaven when he was dead. So either he was a liar or he did not meant the same day.
Meh, as often JWs miss the obvious part of Jesus statement here. Jesus told the criminal 'You will be with me'. So either he was a liar or he did not mean a paradise earth.

A farce elder here
by His Excellency injust to share a little about me:.
i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .
makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .

Public reproving someone is nasty, it's rarely right to shame someone in public. Don't think that it's ok because it's not as bad as disfellowshipping, it isn't.

Do you believe there will be "Mass Suicides" within the BAC/JW community?
by booker-t inas a "therapist trainee"(still have to take my license test) i worry about all of the religious people out there who might commit suicide if the rapture/armaggeddon does not materialize.
what if the bible is proven to be "a big fairy tale" will born again christians(bac) and jws kill themself?
i worry about some of my older jw relatives that have waited for armaggeddon for 50 years and are still waiting.

No, I don't believe or worry about that, I do however worry about the approach you'll take with any religious clients you might have.

Are you talking about the JW understanding? I'm a little confused because you referenced the anointed, JWs believe this guy is going to be in paradise earth, and they say Jesus statement about 'today' means that Jesus was saying he was making this promise that day, not that he's giving the convict the benefits of the promise that day.

Over 300 Partakers in Reno, Nevada! Men Women & Children 12 Years old,
by objectivetruth inthe governing body is powerful, but the holy spirit is infinitely more powerful.
if the wt ever changes, it will be because of a movement such as this.. .
but sanctify the christ as lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.

That's a lot of events to happen since the memorial was less than 3 days ago. Next time you make up such an elaborate story I recommend giving it at least a week to post.

So in other words people will go all willynilly
when there is no King, go berserk.
This is what the author of Judges is trying to convey, yes. You don't have to agree with his opinion to understand the one he has.
What kind of mental state were these people in. They needed a mythical
God a higher power to keep them in check..
As I've told you, the point to this story is that they were looking to a king to keep them in check, not a higher power.
So how did he decide which body part would be sent to the 11 tribes.
Who's he? If you mean god it doesn't say that god made the decision (or suggested it) If you mean the master of the house, I have no idea how he decided.

"-- Without affirming the content of their faith, commend their religious commitment in order to build goodwill. "
Oh dear, where have I heard that before?
