It ended up with the one saying that he's done, he's finished, he can't go on with this anymore.
Wow, he was very trusting of the other JW. I hope he doesn't get disfellowshipped.
over the past couple years, i've confided my whole "apostate experience" to one of my coworkers, everything from 607 and 1914, to disfellowshipping and being raised with the constant fear my worldly family would die in armageddon.
so he knows the whole witness thing.. anyway, he tells me this experience he had on tuesday:.
you wouldn't believe this, boc.

Oh yeah, I hadn't even noticed! Good stuff.
a little update on my life: a few months ago i was sure i was going to be disfellowshipped as my mum told me that my dad had reported my apostasy to the elders.
however, nothing has come of this so far in about 2 months and i am very relieved!
i am not sure if it was because the report to the elders was just an empty threat to scare me back in, or because they reported me to their local elders and now that i am a member of a new congregation those elders decided they couldn't be bothered to pursue me.

My Dad had not talked to me in over 2 months since I told him I did not believe in his religion anymore, but earlier this week he visited my city for reasons unrelated to me and we met up. He was friendly, and said very little about the JWs, but he did bring it up eventually. I took the tact of responding as little to what he said as possible, I think in future I might feel more confident about challenging him, but right now whilst I am trying to rebuild our relationship I don't want him to feel threatened by me. Though it is frustrating because from what I heard from my brother-in-law later he seemed to feel my choice not to respond to his arguments was down to an inability to refute them...
Whilst I know you have to take into consideration different personality types, for those of you who still have contact with JW family, I wonder what is your general approach with talking to JW family about their religion?
here's the scene, you're out for a walk with a jw, and somehow discussion turns to religion.. the jw says: 'i know jws have the truth because we don't go to war, members of other churches will kill each other if their government asks them to, but the bible says 'do not kill' and we follow that.'.
how do you respond?.

... satan charged god with lying and implied that jehovah was unfair in not letting adam and eve decide for themselves what was right and what was wrong.
after adam and eve sinned and as the earth began to be filled with their offspring, satan questioned the motive of all humans.
Spot on Julia. Proverbs 27:11 is taken out of context. Read the whole chapter and you get no indication that God is speaking, instead it seems to be a request from a father to his son. Hardly something you should base a major doctrine on!
On another note, from that Society quote 'You can answer Satan’s challenge by living in a way that pleases God. What does this involve? The Bible answers: “You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and all your soul and all your vital force.”' - This is hardly a simple request is it? No wonder so many JWs feel constantly guilty, I know I did.

Apognophos:
the fear, guilt, poverty, shunning make it a hard way to go through life..
Doesn't 'boring' apply to most religious meetings? I've been to different church services, and aside from the novelty factor, there was nothing of real interest. That's why the more successful franchises have bands and pretty girl singers. And, field service is (imho) more boring also, than hellish. Getting dressed up? OK, I agree on that one. Have never worn a suit since they chucked me out.
Well, most religious meetings are at least shorter, and generally there's just one a week. Field service is hell if you're an introvert like me. As is giving talks! As jgnat said, JWs force people into serving in very limited ways, hate talking to strangers and in large public settings? Too bad, Jehovah won't like you anymore if you don't do it. As hoser said this 'is a hard life'

fulltimestudent, patronising much? Anyway, primarily this thread was not about what I believe, but about the fact that the sovereignty doctrine (not actually a biblical teaching) is contradicted by the apostle Paul in a book JWs themselves believe to be inspired by god.
i'm sure a list of addresses of kingdom halls where governing body attend would be very helpful for some who want to speak to them personally or to spy on these guys.
any info about meeting times and locations that offer the best oportunity meet up with these guys, made easily availible on the internet, so that if anyone could if they wanted to pay them a visit..
The more, err... passionate among us might however use such information to harrass them...
Plus with all the travelling they do it might be hard to get hold of them. Would they have moved Congregations with the Bethel move?
i went to the drug store to pick up my pills,.
a beautiful black boy!
was cleaning the windows.a very old lady passed by him.
Ha! Just as the guy thought he was about to get an assembly experience you had to go apostate on him.
