Wasn't the houses for prophets just an excuse for Rutherford to buy a mansion in sunny California?

I have often seen JW`s supposed beleif of 1925 as the end .....It`s not what I remember
by smiddy ini could be wrong of course , but as far as i recall 1925 was not the date of armageddon , but was the date the" princes of the earth" would be resurrected .
the princes of course were faithfull men of old such as abraham issac and jacob, anybody who had a prominent part in gods favour.. witnesses at assemblies after 1925 were constantly awaiting to welcome the resurrected princes of the earth up until the late 1950`s.
these faithfull resurrected men were to lead the rank and file into the glorious new system of christs thousand year reign.. smiddy.

Avoid or call them back?
by Angus Beef indaughter missed a call from an elder tonight...we've missed meetings for about a month now.
she is dating a worldly guy and i'm sure someone has seen them together.
makes us nervous and with us being fairly new to the fading facet... should she call or avoid.

Avoid - it's not rude to ignore people who have the power to enforce shunning against you.

What do Baptists believe?
by quellycatface ini'm thinking about going to church again because i'm really interested in god (today)!!.
sometimes i'm so confused and feel like there is no god, other days i do and want to try and get to know him.. i guess i'm scared because of all the bs that went on in the kh.. there is a local baptist church near me that seems nice.
i'm in the uk.

Since this thread is fond of analogies the JW theodicy is kind of like the prodigal son story except the Father is so outraged at his son's rebellion he sends him out without his inheritance (removing perfection and cursing the earth) and then says 'I told you so' when the son has no choice but to come home.

Ironic: g73 2/8 p. 4 The Wisdom of Admitting a Mistake
by 4thgen inwhat ya all think about this?
of course, admitting we made a mistake is the right, honest and decent thing to do.
it is also the course of wisdom.

Proud, dishonest and stupid is probably a fair description.

I want to send a follow-up question to my sister who has recently cut me off
by Faithful Witness inrecently, i received this email from my jw sister: .
while i appreciate the thought, please do not send us gifts.. our kids are not missing out on anything other than things we try to protect them from.. at this time, based on prior encounters and their affect on me emotionally, i think it would be best if we didn't communicate.. i hope you can understand my decision and the fact that it is not meant to offend anyone.. .
i sent her a loving and forgiving message, and know she has no intention of answering me.

I liked your response. Refuse to 'understand [her] position' because it's not understandable.

Lol, I've done it too, I enjoyed it, didn't find any problems raising questions but I suppose it depends who you do it with. If you don't like it you can just stop going. It was just a suggestion anyway.
Not sure how he comes across on video but Nicky's quite pleasant in real life.

It's hard to say exactly what they will believe as their will be some variation between different Baptist churches, but I expect they'll generally hold to the Orthodox christian teachings you'd find in the nicene creed.
As you're in the UK an Alpha course might be a good place to help you understand christianity better.

Does Anyone Feel the Ministerial School Helped Them?
by Band on the Run inas a born-in, i was eager to join the ministry school.
my cousins were also born-in but lived in different states.
there was keen competition to see who could do mature things, such as baptism (my mom said when i was 35) and ministry school.

It was good public speaking practice. (If you're a man.) Though I think it's the longer talks and public talks for MSs and elders that really help with this.
