without fanfare, jehovahs witnesses quietly soften position on blood transfusionstom blackwell, national post staff | dec 20, 2012 9:59 pm et.
more from national post staff.
calgary herald/fileslawrence hughes broke with the witnesses, and the rest of his own family, when it tried to prevent his teenage daughter, bethany, who died in 2002, from receiving a blood transfusion while being treated for cancer.twittergoogle+linkedinemailcommentsmoretumblrpinterestredditdiggfarkitstumbleuponfor years, the jehovahs witnesses fiercely held belief that blood transfusions are contrary to gods will led to emotional and very public disputes, hospitals clashing with parents over whether to infuse sick children.. that long history of messy legal confrontations appears to be vanishing, however, amid changing approaches to the issue on both sides, health-care officials say.. the churchs ban on accepting blood still stands, but some major pediatric hospitals have begun officially acknowledging the parents unorthodox beliefs, while many jehovahs witnesses are signing letters recognizing that doctors may sometimes feel obliged to transfuse, they say.. as institutions show more respect toward parents faith and try harder not to use blood, witnesses often seem eager to avoid involving child-welfare authorities to facilitate transfusions, and more accepting that canadian case law is firmly on the doctors side, some hospital officials say.. they get it that were going to transfuse where its medically necessary.

we have entered a new era in our existence.
a new beginning.
a renewed enlightenment.. welcome to 21.12.2012. we have entered a time of peace and harmony,.
Checking in!!! I survived too
our co gave the illustration about a jar filled with golf balls ,pebbles and sand ......it was suppose to illustrate how if we put theocratic things first other things like family and entertainment will fit .
blah , i like this explaination much better....... .
a professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.
This illustration of the golf balls was extensively used from the jw pulpit. I haven't heard it since the book study was eliminated though. The 5 gold balls represented the 5 weekly meetings. Those were supposed to be the cornerstone of a jdub's life. Everything else would fit around.
I like the explanation of this philosophy prof.
thanks for sharing
i would appreciate answers on this from elders or former elders .. speaking to a young unbaptized witness, he said that he'd like to get baptized asap, but he would have to achieve a return visit or two on his report before that could happen.. when i asked him what made him think that, he said that that was what the elders had told his sister to do, before she could get baptized.
is this standard practice by elders?.
haven't they read acts 2:38 to find out what qualifies a person for baptism?
I think this is one of those unwritten standards. I've heard and have witnessed elders deny baptism because the hourly requirement was not up to their liking and if this individual doesn't have any RV--definitely they would hinder his baptism
so, if the current gb is this "faithful and discreet slave" and they place greater emphasis on 1919 now, are they saying that only a few anointed christians were selected in the 1st century, followed by nearly 2000 years of no selections and starting around 1914-1919, the selection of the rest of the 144,000 resumed?.
if so, this is an easy explanation for the increase in numbers of partakers since 2008. have they gone right out and said this officially or have they only alluded to it up to now?.
also, the original understanding was this "shut door" policy of 1935. i never understood how they arrived at that year.
My God this whole thing is so convoluted and confusing.
lifespan of watchtower teaching?.
today i added a new article to my blog showing a snapshot in time of what might be a revelation of whats to come of watchtower doctrines of today.
its short and its telling.
The revelation book was made to be studied 3 times over and now they discard it. When I think of the cumulative time spent studying and restudying this crap --i feel a little vomit coming up. :(
Thanks Marvin for bringing this to the light--love your blog

If its something I can't stomach, then I make up an excuse not to do it or swap with another sister.
milan italy public demonstration against ostracism practiced by the watchtower.. .
two years after rome, yesterday december 1st, day by day, we were about 100 of us demonstrating on a public square in the center of milan, italy.. .
at about 10-11 a.m. many of us were already on the spot, installing our gazebo on the public square where we were granted authorization by the police and starting the distribution of about 4000 tracts to passersby in the surrounding squares, boulevards and streets exposing the watchtower for its teachings and instructions on discriminating those who decide to use their rights to walk away from this religious movement without to have to incur the ostracism imposed by the leadership.
Grazie Marco, Gianni, Davide e Silvana for your youtube expressions.
As many on this thread have said--I also applaud the fact that educating the public is a better way to go.
after reading coc and isocf i cried, i was in shock, disillusioned, angry, and afraid... anyone wants to share their experience?.
i would like to see what you think about these questions when compared with your account.. why people from different backgrounds feel similar reactions?
(cannot be a conpiracy).
While I was reading Ray's books I started feeling like a heavy rock fell off my back. I felt a tremendous relief. All those pieces of the puzzle finally fit. But after everything sank in then I became really angry. I went through a period of depression at the thought of having been so gullible and stupid --and sacrificing my entire youth for men in New York.
yes, we can call them that now, without fear of being disfellowshipped for apostasy.. .
