the hype at assemblies, my dad giving up his job and selling his home to move where the "need was great", now minimised by mother with her "oh so you're another seventy-fiver are you" comments.. now it's just something that occasionally embarrasses jw's, some of them deny it ever happened, others think that it was all too long ago to be relevent.. maybe we need to put 1975 into a slot where we can all relate to it.
maybe those of us who remember that year could chip in as well.. so, what did happen in 1975?

Are you Italian? He may very well be a "pulitore della finestra". Is that not the career of choice for those in the borg? Actually for Mr Veenstra that job would be too good. "Pulitore del gabinetto" would be more like it. He was not very well liked. My husband's family knew him very well. He loved his booze. The first thing he would ask when he would visit was liquor.

that was Dan Sydlik at the international convention in Pontiac Michigan held a few weeks ago.
He started to cry during the concluding prayer on the last day of the assembly. The chairman had to finish it off.

as most are aware, vicki boer has been long awaiting a decision to be handed down in a case she started against the society in canada.. the decision was handed down today.
as with any 55 page decision, it will take some time for the legal experts to hash it over and decipher what was said.
but, in a nutshell..... vicki won.

i have been reading quite a few of these threads and post and through it i feel as though i have come to know some of you and your behaviors.. i notice that there are many of you who are still associated with the hall, and have not left yet... yet, bring up very "strong" points on the board.. i have a question for all of you who fit this description.... why dont you just 'effin leave already?

Jesus said to count the cost. I believe that the leaving process takes time.
I do intend to leave. My husband would like to leave with a bang and I would like to do the slow fade.
Why do we stay? Because of family and friends. We have been pillars in the congregation for so long that they would be devastated.
So are we being cowards? Maybe , but in the meantime we are preparing the way so that the blow will not be so hard.
Right now we are slowly introducing what we know to our families in a non confrontational way. We hope that they too can discern what this organization really is. Already we can see changes in their attitudes towards certain aspects of the jw dogmas.
Its not a nice situation to be in. I feel very trapped and frustrated.
I am very happy that most of you have been able to make a clean break from watchtowerland. I will eventually cut ties with them too and I will not look back. In the meantime I will look to this board for comfort, support and enlightment.

wasn't there a post quite awhile ago where someone brought this up?
i recall that someone said that for lunch they had to go out to the local mini-mart and grab a hot dog that was simmering all day on the grill!
They would prefer that you not eat, but if you have then bring a cooler that fits under your seat.
i'm going to be offline for quite a while.
i'm moving this weekend and the computer i use belongs to my sister.
since i will no longer be living with her i won't have daily access to a computer.

These forceful tactics that you would like to engage in may do wonders for people on the outside of the congregation. But the regular Jw will only be strenghtened to be more loyal to the organization. Actions such as you propose will only be viewed as persecution.
Little things can also help damage and dent the watchtower walls
Since I still attend and associate with the congregation, I always look for opportunities to ask someone a small question, show a little discrepancy here and there. I know personally many Jw don't agree with many of society's policies and rules and have trouble accepting them. Many have doubts but they just can't put their finger on it.
If we can help those on the inside get their wheels in motion by researching and reading that is half the battle won. (wt articles flip, flop and are full of discrepancies).
Maybe this method may only produce hair-line fracture in the wall but it weakens it none the less.
