  this is really making me mad.

  i write articles about different bible topics.

  they are mostly geared to new christians to help them get a better understanding of basic doctrine, christian life, and christianity in the early church.

  yay!

  i was brought up as a j/w and my mum stopped going when i was a teenager.

  i tried to get back into it as an adult but spent more time in the bible studies arguing, so i kind of realised after a few years it was going nowhere.. spent years just studying on my own cos i couldnt find a christian organisation i felt i agreed with and stayed clear of church cos of so called.

  i'm in my twenties and am raised as a jw by my parents.

  i've been reading this board for over a year.

  have read several books: crisis of consience, apocalypse delayed, who wrote the bible, the bible unearthed.

  Jesus said to them, 'I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE,..No one comes to the Father, except through me."...JOHN 14:6 watchtower isn't the way......nor is any other religion......So if you start as said in John 14:6, the rest will come.... God Bless.....PEACE

  Why an article on the ancient city of Ebla in the Watchtower

  i was curious as to why the wtbts would publish an article on the ancient city of ebla.

  but, to begin a little research on the internet on ebla could well be a surprise to any current jw as it could lead to all kinds of fascinating finds as to the origins of the name yhwh when a search is done, and even lead some to the discovery of the god el, the original lead or head god of the sumerians.

  the jews had baal as their god of fertility and also yhwh as their storm/desert/ mountain/ supreme god (depending on which article you are reading but not surprising considering how many thousands of years back we need to go for this).. then, there arises the information on the cult of yhwh and even more fascinating information that the averge jw will never have come across.

  'the great day of jehovah is near.

  as usual 'near', 'soon', 'approaching'.....blah blah etc...... watchtower dec 15th 2006.

  i always try to find something to chitchat with the docs with, so i asked him about his religion.

  Mormonism?..There's a video out called, "DNA vs Book of Mormon." Many of the mormons who deal with DNA left the church(LDS) because they discovered the BOM lied to them....Joe Smith was a fraud...

  Do you regret disowning your former religion?

  before converting to the jw religion, i was catholic.. the jw's made me write to the catholic church and tell them that i found the truth in the jw's, and that i didn't want to be a catholic anymore.

  i guess that most of us had to do this.. i remember writting a letter to the catholic chruch and stating verses why i thought they were wrong and why the jw's were right.. maybe i should write another letter to that catholic church and tell them that i made a mistake and that both religions are full of sh*t.. .

  sounds good to me JH.....I left the church(catholic) back in 1965..almost became a priest.....(no merriage..oh my)Way too Cultic, but a christian church.....but I perfer to be known as a christian that follows Christ not a religion.
