the cult of breakaway mormons in creston, bc, having been in the news in the past are now being investigated by the rcmp.

two female survivors of the cult, last year being on dr. phil i think, wrote a book on the situation,,,,

action is also being taken in utah, etc

Pologamy has been established for many cultures since the dawn of time. And the only place in scripture is in Deuteronomy 17:17, "Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; norshall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself."

Now here it's talking about a king, yet David and Solomon an example of many wives. But if you know anything about David and Solomon the scriptures are clear of what happened when these kings did take on more then one wife. Solomon died and did not have favor with the Lord. Bathsheba and David's child at birth, according to scripture.

Yet mankind says it's evil to have more then one wife. Really? Is mankind now Savior f the world? I think not. Yet on a different view, the U.S. Constitution states clearly that church and state have no part of any law, yet the law of the land says one wife.

Religious grounds or not the government gets involved, if more then one spouse. Or at least one spouse at a time...As for taking a 16 or 15 year old as a spouse...well it's never that clear.

Before the 20th century and the woman's so called sufferage movement, the average age for a girl would be, roughly, 14-16..Anything over 17, the girl maybe considered an old maid.

With so much change in thought and technology since that time..are we really that happy? Is our society really accept many things?

Gays still fight over rights, women are still fighting, the African Americans are still fighting for their legal rights as a human right. And abortions are still on the rise. As I se it abortions are genocide to the human race. Since Row Vs. Wade, there has been over 30 million abortions. Meaning unwanted births.

The government should take care of the problems we have now, instead of butting into others' business.

AS for pologamy, if a man and woman decide to take on another responablity why not? If he can afford it..and not let the state take care of it through welfare. Why should the gevernment get involved? Unless the old saying with maybe true after all, jealously.

i know bush is not a popular president.

i am a registered independent, used to be a republican, and i am not a huge fan of bush.

in many ways i wish i had another choice in the last election, other then kerry.

Hi Free2beme....Finally someone asked the question.."Is Bush to blame? Let's look at it from the state and federal law standards.

The feds can't do anything unless the state governor gives permission to do so. Since Louisiana did have a disaster of such magnitude the President, not the Louisiana governor, asked if they needed help. The Louisiana governor said yes, but she delayed the national guard to do ANYTHING FOR THE FIRST 24 TO 48 HOURS. Why?

She, Louisiana Governor halted any aid for the first 24 hours, because she feared that New Orleans would bring in more drifters then those already there.

Louisiana state governor is suppose to have, in hand, already the states guard, yet nothing happened. The President sent FEMA, yet he, the President, couldn't understand why nothing was happening. According to reports the governor froze the aid for the first 24 hours.

According to the guide lines of the state and federal the federals can't do anything without the states' say so. That's where the confusion started.

It was the Louisiana state who held the responablity. Any or all states are required by law to have any or all state guard at ready at such disaster. And basically the President can not move forward as long as each state takes care of their own government situation.

As for the U.S. Military the military can not move across the United States in domestic problems. That's why each state must have their own militia. Yet there was none coming. There were reports that some of the state militia was there, but not enough to regain control.

It wasn't real clear what happened that day. I have a favorite saying, "bureaucrates love their paper work." In other words, my opinion, the bureaucracy helt up the process.

Oh I'm not blaming Bush, at least not 100 %. It was the Louisiana Governor...she had no idea what to do.

It was the President's responablity to take care of Iraq. It was Louisana state governor's responablity to take care of Louisiana.

Now remember, that Sunday the President asked the Governor, if she needed help. this was before the flood. She said she might. The very next day, Monday, New Orleans was flooded.

Has anyone got the "An American Translation?"

it says in john 1:1, that the word was divine, instead of saying "god.

" but can anyone tell me how it translates isaiah 9:6?

does it say mighty god or divine being?

Well for starters the word, "divine," means to be God or God like. I have 2 copies of the American Translation.1860 and 1861. A basic dictionary will not help any. The dictionary writers also have gotten political correctness down to a tee.

Divine which is Logos, koien greek which equals Theos, which is basically translated as God. I won't go into the 15 pages of detail on how and why, if you have a analytical greek lexicon, it basically Christ, Himself, tells the reader Who is Alpha and Omega..Both in Revelation 1:8 and Rev.22:13.

Many people will argue points too absurdity. As for Palsm 9:6 teach on hte prophecy of the coming Christ. And before you or someone wants to talk to you about Revelations considering Jehovah God, John, writer of Revelations, tell you from the beginning of revelations that it's Christs revelation......"The Revelation of Jesus Christ...." Revelation 1:1..."John tells you from the start that he's going to write on the Christ.

well i am new to the board, i have faded away from the truth lies about 6 years ago.

it still has an effect on me today, so much so i gave the warning in the title.

this is because one of the things drilled into me, was that its far worse to lead a member of the flock away.

Welcome Void to the forum. Here you'll read a great deal of opinions,facts, fantasy, and mostly just writings of a many former witnesses and those who know them. I came upon thisforum many years back, but i already was working with JWs, former JWs, and many other religious people. I left the watchtower back in the middle 80s and established myself as a cult teacher, later became a Reverend and began as a Born-Again-Christian-Minister of Apologetics.

I discovered at the beginning of my ministery that the brothern church has enough problems so I decided to minister to the so called elite, the ministers who say they pastor churches..So I started on Jack Hayford, CHURCH ON THE WAY. first. I found his doctrinal statement basically followed the scriptures, so I moved on. Then I realized I had a great deal of wealth of information on the watchtower so I headed that way. Along the way I met a christian minister who taught much on mormonism. So he taught me mormonism and I taught him about the watchtower. Today I teach comparative religions.

AS for your title, I hope you realize everyone is going to read your posts, because of it's title...Man in our nature are basically curious when some tells us not to read this...lol.....

Anyway you'll learn a great deal more information then you ever wanted too. But then again life, itself, is an adventure, you might as well enjoy it.....

Mormons/LDS

what would your views be on mormons?.

was there much incidences where jw's and mormons would ever catch eachother while going door-to-door?.

just curious cause both of you do it and wondered if there was ever any conflict between the two..... evanescence

I didn't know this was a Mormon forum too.I'm only joking. But I'm not when I say there are many a mormon who lists and writes in this forum. How Do i know this? Simple, the writings. I, too, lived in Nauvoo Illinois where the first main Mormon belief came up. Oh I know, they started in Missouri too, but Joe Smith was run out of town. But in Nauvoo Smith established the religion the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But then again Brigham Young altered the church when Young went to create Salt Lake City, after Smith's death.

What's the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? They are a group that broke off from Brigham Young and settled in Missouri. Oh yeah...they don't like being called Mormons. Or at least my 12th grade high school girl friend told me. She belonged to the Organized group.

Anyway they are a group of good folks, that includes the jehovah witnesses.What do they have in connon? Easy answer......" But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are parishing, whose minds the god of htis age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ , who is the image of God, should shine on them."(2Corinthians 4: 3,4)

Oh yeah..one more thing in common...."knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation."(2Peter 1:20)

Almighty god ?

i have a problem with the idea of almighty god.

can somebody explain it for me?

i mean if someone is almighty there are no limits what one can do, right?

" In the beginning God created the heavens and earth...."-Genesis 1:1---The way I disern it God is Almighty God.

Over the years of research, study, and to understand the scriptures God can do anything He desires, but then again God is only limited by His nature. So what's His nature? His nature is God. Plus He doesn't go against His nature. I'll give you a simple example......if God created another god,He wouldn't be God.

All through out the writings of scripture, it does say that men were gods, for the simple reason many had authority, as judges, over life and death. Another example comes from Psalm 82:6 and 7....., "I said, You are gods and all of you are children of the Most High.But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes."

Stating here that men were filled with pride and thought they did haave authority of life and death over men. Yet God Himself never reconized man as God or His equal.

According to Deuteronomy 6:4, "Hear O Isreal: The Lord our God, the Lord is One." And one more scripture stands out who God really is..."And God said to Moses...'I AM WHO I AM,' And HE said, 'Thus you should say to the children of Isreal," I AM, 'has sent me to you."(Exodus 3:14)

So anything less God would not be....

Is Michael the Archangel really Jesus?

for years i have believed what the wt says about michael the archangel really being another name for jesus christ.

but now i am reading lots of other non-witness books, i am beginning to question this teaching.. has anyone done any research on this particular subject.. your comments would be appreciated.

Funny thing here..if Michael is or was suppose to be Jesus..what comes next when the Watchtower says Jesus is, also, Abaddon, the angel of the Abyss

Welcome Calico....whatever you do don't give up your secret to anyone not even to me. The steps that your taking is a huge undertaking....to realize how the Watchtower is misleading many...

Matter is it depends who you are..if you have family in it and what you plan to do it. Some stay, due to family is too deep seated and goes back generations. Thus...they are stuck, they think.

Yet you see through the guise. Yes there are many Witnesses who are sincere and really desire to know the truth....

We'll help you anyway we can..God Bless...

Why 'defining evil' is fruitless

i think that terry's answer to his own question about 'defining evil' is incorrect.

you do not even need to define evil when you have an absolute truth to go by.

you can go through a lot of speculation in order to define evil.

Well DANNYBLOEM, it sure does sound confusing....but then again in the old text we see Jehovah act under civil law according to His word. We, today, have civil law.....

Yet as move to see the New Testament or hebrew scriptures, we move into grace.

We need to realize that when Jehovah's authority was brought into question by Satan, we have to sit back to observe what's taking place. It all deals with authority.

Plus The Father rose Jesus at resurrection...We needed to see and understand that we may suffer under Satan's rule, yet only God could raise the dead...forgive sin..cure the sick and make man perfect. Satan may make the attempt to raise someone from the dead, yet it will fail....Satan may cure a few things, but it will fail...As for perfection....never happen. And since Satan is so full of himself, he actually thinks he'll win.

As for death...it's only a temporary condition..Death is not fatal to God. Death's actually condition is the end of pain and suffering. For those who created pain and suffering..when they die pain and suffering only begins. Yet God knows the heart of man. That's why He's the Judge..perfect judgement. We have no idea what is perfection, so we wait.

What is evil? evil is the opposit of good.
