Zanex,
That cracked me up
could the wbts change anything about it's beliefs that would entice you back to the religion?.
or are you firmly against the wbts no matter what?.
even if it changed it's rules on shunning, blood, "worldly things" ?.

i was wondering if anyone has a soloution to this little problem: as we all know, the wt claims to be the faithful and discreet slave, jehovah's spirit directed channel, blah blah blah, but i don't think they ever actually said the word prophet in relation to themselves.
if they have, i've yet to find the quote.
does anyone know how to get around this problem when a thoroughly brainwashed sheep uses the defense that "the wt never said they were a prophet so that argument is not valid"?

I would think that any intelligent person examining WT literature would realise that they basically do say they are a prophet, but not in those words, but JW's don't see it that way. Any help anyone?
just curious.
maybe this topic has been addressed before, but has anyone here read the book, the bible code by michael drosnin?
i am reading it right now.... comments?
I haven't read the book but I've read reviews and commentaries on it, watched 2 specials about it on TV, and from what I've seen, it appears to be a load of bunk. I thought it was quite interesting initially, until I found out that they reprodouced similiar results with a copy of the novel "Moby Dick"
While it's an interesting subject, I don't think it has any true signifcance.
A good site on the subject is http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/theism/christianity/codes.shtml
i was just wondering what was the most astounding thing you guys have had a jw say to you.
whether it was while you were still in the borg or after you left.
i've heard some rather funny stories on this subject.
Some of the things our lovely brothers and sisters say are astounding. "You would have been stoned" "I'll never talk to you again" "You're under Satan's control" "Smurfs are Satanic" It's almost hard to imagine that, even with the control the WT has over the witnesses, people could say things like that to their only family. And to Mouthy, I'm sorry to hear what your daughter said.

Man oh man, I could listen to those stories all day, especially the ones about the smurfs, because I've heard it in like 40 different places, and it's STILL hilarious. I mean really, how can a person not think the GB is a bunch of crackpots when they preach about the evils of smurfs. Just too funny.

i've heard many times about the documents that elders are sent by the wts regularly, but i can't remember what they're called.
it's on the tip of my tongue
No I don't think that's it, (don't you think i know what BOE letters are, hehe ) But maybe I'm imagining things. oh well, nvm, because on second thought I can' t even remember the purpose of the letters.......hahaha, boy does that make me look stupid. Oh well
don't get me wrong, i'm not one to actively persecute jw's, i'm just wondering what you guys think is the best agrument/point to use when a pesky brother or sister just won't leave you alone.
normally, i am willing to listen to their drivel out of respect (even though i have no respect for the wt) but there are times when i am not in the mood to hear them babble.
i normally bring up the 1914 generation point, and it normally works.
I knew a sis who read the texts and used them as sort of a hororscope. Seriously, she would read them and think they had some real application to her personal day-also knew an elder who believed that he was getting messages form jehovah from the awake-telling him it do certain things.ever hear jimmy buffets cd "fruitcakes" give it a listen.
That's so hilarious its almost sad, wednesday.
Nickey,
Just be thankful you're not one of them anymore. If you don't mind me asking, how and why did you decide to leave?

I just wanted to add that I was just over at the www.purelanguage.net/forum forums and they are absoloutely hilarious. Here's a few apostate-related comments i though you guys might find somewhat humorous.
We are truly privileged to be living at a time when the light of truth is shining ever so bright. The days of the apostasy are over. While we might have to continue to be on guard against apostates we will never have to face again a full-scale apostasy. Still, let us never ever have anyone pull the wool over our eyes
I would say the light is probably shining brighter now, but all the light's doing is reaching down into the dark corners of the WTBTS and revealing its lies, and i doubt the "days of apostasy" will be over soon.
B is for beware of apostates.
The forum moderator posted this. I thinks it's rather juvenile and funny.
Dateline was preempted last night! ha ha ha and a double ha ha! I read that the Society is sending a letter to each congregation to prepare us for this apostasy. Hmmm Jehovah does work in strange ways... I learned that from the Isaiah book. In my opinion, this person who is trying to put Jehovah's witnesses in a bad light because we follow the bible's admonition to disfellowship is only highlighting the point that the Catholic Church should have excommunicated those priests practicing immorality.
The funniest thing about this is they don't realize how stupid they sound.
What a daily text to follow on the day after the airing of the Dateline program about Jehovah's witnesses and the organization. My understanding is that the apostates were on a letter writing campaign asking "Dateline" to air the program. (*my note*: of course they would never accept that it could be someone who had no religious affiliation, but it HAD to be the evil apostates. sheesh.)This one takes the cake. Obviously, the daily texts were reprinted when the boys in brooklyn found out about the dateline special. If only these poor souls could see how they were being lied to.
When I read the text for today, I was astounded. Who only could have known ahead of time that Jehovah's people would have needed some special encouragement on this very day. After all the Daily Text and comments were put together over a year ago.
The comments for the Daily Text are right on the mark.
No doubt about it, Jehovah is blessing his organization. We are being offered protection and security in a world that has none.
