  do you know why so many people are leaving the "truth"?

  it's because they all figured out that they really were going to die.

  once a witness understands that millions now living will indeed die, they begin to regress from the witness spirituality.

  it is pretty pathetic for some people that claim they don't like the content/style/quantity of your threads and then to constantly dog you in them.

  i think it takes a decent measure of talent and thought to consistently post interesting questions that generate good responses and from the number of replies/reads you get per thread, i would say others think similarly.. even your critics cannot seem to resist opening and reading what you write.

  personally, i think they are jealous and frustrated that simple questions generate more interest here than their long well-researched essays.

  i have recently started reading archives and I too have found min's posts to be good ones. I am just new to leaving the borg and still have alot of the guilt feelings. The disussion board has helped my eyes to be open and for me really to look inside myself to see what i believe

  Thank you to all and especially to simon for putting up with our crap and having this forum/chat room avaliable to struggling new exists.

  A Sunburnt Country

  dorothea mackellar's famous poem about australia speaks of a land of droughts and floods; a land that for most of its days is burnt by sun and fire.

  it's been many months since there was rain on this great southern land and as mrs ozzie and i flew over it last week, we were saddened to see over the length and breadth, for hour upon hour, a dry burnt land.

  such is our land this year.

  My dad's property at this stage is safe.. This time last year my Aunt lost her house in the fires they there.

  My other Aunts house is in the area closer to the fires. They are trying to keep it out of the town. We will just see how it goes.

  My mum lives in coonabarbran and the fires are just past a brothers house on the newell highway. But so far they are safe.

  i was reading the post on our standing within the congregation http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=40040&site=3&page=3 and no matter what part of the world we live in, its always the same thing.. it is always the elders kids that get away with murder while the ones that are really trying to do the right thing always get blamed for it.. when i would mention this to my mum she would always reply with, satan has already got them.

  he is trying to get you.. if you are getting persecuted.. it means you are doing the right thing.. does that sound strange to anyone other then me?.

  I have walked in both shoes. My father is the only elder in his congreation. the previous congregation I was in (dad still in his) the elders children were caught smoking dope by my brother and another brother and my brother got in trouble for doing it not the elder's son. He lied his way out of it.

  One one occasion we all had a camp out. the elder was there and so were his children. My sister and I ended up leaving without staying over night because of all the alcohol there and the elders children were the drunkest of all of them.

  Prisca I know you have heard of this family so I wont mention any names. Any way, we mentioned it to my mum that we didnt stay because of the drunkeness (at time I thought it was a bad thing to do) and she told the CO.

  Then next thing we knew my sister and I were in a meeting with the elders getting told that our opinion was wrong and that we had to go and apologise for having our own opinion. (those exact words) the elder that told us this was the father of those kids.

  I hope I havent rubbed anyone up the wrong way because I didnt intend to but I have lived on both sides of the coin and that is just the way I see things.

  I am only new here and have been reading about the Bill/Ray deal. People discussing who is the better one.

  I too thought that people are looking for a new leader. Isnt that a reason why we left because we dont anyone to tell us what to do???

  We are grown ups here.. We can use our own mind and heart to decide what is best for us. we do not need anyone to tell us what to do!!!

  When will it rain?

  this last weekend i was doing some yard work to get the place ready for the winter-time.

  all of which left kind of a big mess of dirt on the walk way and the rest of the cement.

  i was so tired from working on this all day, the last thing i felt like doing at that moment was having to clean up this dirt all over the place.

  sometimes, the gender of a poster is relatively easy to deduce due to their style of posting, and, dare i say it, their choice of vocabulatory.

  but sometimes it is difficult to know if you are "talking" to a man or a woman (or homosexual).
