I have two friends who have lots TONS of weight on the Atkins diet. Many people think it's a no carb diet, but it's really just a low carb diet. I have gotten the book and am starting my diet monday-so I'll keep you posted. If you don't already own a membership somewhere, I would suggest joining the Y. I joined one here locally and their equipment is totally up to date, and they have great aerobics classes for all levels.Best of all you have access to a pool and hot tub!!!

Bethel pictures
by meadow77 inyears ago when i dated a jw who was accepted to bethel, it was explained to me that applicants had to submit a picture.
i never bothered to question this, or ask anybody at the time, but i've always wondered what the point of that was.
does anybody know?

I agree with Dakota on the magazine subscription bit. These can actually be great gifts too. Think of something that (insert random name here) is really into. It shouldn't be hard to find a magazine geared toward their particular interests as there is a magazine on practicaly anything. They usually only cost between 15.00-30.00. And best of all, they will think of you every month for a whole year. As for just stocking stuffers, I always like some sort of snack that can be munched on all day, or socks, you can never go wrong with socks!!Oh and I'm with BC on the adult beverages. If you are given to an adult that partakes, some little travel size liquor that they could pour into their cider, or hot chocolate is always a crowd pleaser.

GG, God bless you, that while going through such a difficult time, you are reaching out to others, to help them. Insurance companies are notoriously difficult, and moral free. I am so happy that you were able to "beat them at their own game" Who knows the countless number of people that they pull that on, that do give up, and don't end up getting the treatment that they desperatly need.
Thank you again for being so generous with this information, and I will be keeping you and your family in my prayers.

Why do Some Ex-JWs go Wacko?
by rebel ini don't intend to offend anybody with this post, so please excuse me if i do.
i have often wondered why some people that leave the wt organisation go really weird.
there is a couple near me who left a couple of years ago.

Rebel, I can understand your question, and I know you meant no offense. I think people just make mistakes sometimes. It's unfortunate that mistakes are not allowed in the KH(at least not openly admitted mistakes.) It's unfortunate that these loving, compassionate, and perfect souls can only gain amusement and satisfaction at the expense of others. They miss no chance to gloat and judge. That is probably truly one of the worst sins of all. Doesn't seem very christlike does it. I understand you wish some wouldn't give them so much ammo, but you have to understand that they will judge no matter what. That's what the whole religion seems to be based on. If you yourself have gotten out, than I would suggest that you 100% disassociate them from your concern. Better yet, pray for them with true compassion in your heart, because they are misled, and one day will answer for all their judgments against others. As for the holiday thing, the thing I've learned here is that many never saw anything wrong with celebrating their b-days and holidays. Some may have, but always secretly envied the fun and love that they saw others enjoying during such events. I know first hand, that I saw my bestfriend devour the holidays when she came out of the religion. She celebrated her first birthday at 16, and I have never seen a happier person. Her house today is always the most gaudy one on the block. You see she missed out on so much joy over the years, and I guess she's just trying to catch up. She also has to double her holiday spirit with decorations and such, because her family still doesn't celebrate. She's happier being out of the org, but it is lonely this time of the year when most are sharing love with their families. I think most are just making up for lost time.

Craig, I think you will find lots of support here, from people just like you. It will take time to get used to being an apostate, but hang in there. Just kidding. I have never been a j-dub, but I can empathize. I'm sure many others will respond to your thread with love and kindness, this is a very accepting place to be(most of the time) :) All I can offer, having never been in your shoes, is friendship. And to tell you that you are special, unique, and have gifts that are worthy to share, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I couldn't find anything about multiple heavens, but I found this about their beliefs.
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adams transgression.
- We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
- We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
- We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
- We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
- We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
- We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
- We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
- We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon this the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
- We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
- We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
- We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of PaulWe believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

To the US Military
by freedom96 inthere have been many postings regarding the possible war with iraq.
there are many strong apposing views, as to be expected.. i personally am going to thank all those who are in the military; my hat is off to you, and i respect what you do, and i am very thankful.
you are the ones that must go out there and defend our freedoms.. i don't think most people desire war, but sometimes there seems to be little choice.

I want to send my thanx to the men and women who suffer and give their lives for their friends, family, and country. God said greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friend. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing the greatest love there is. I think it's too bad that in a country with such extreme tolerance and freedom, people can live under that blanket while disagreeing with the method in which it's provided. If they disagree so much maybe they should try voting, works for me.
