Is this baby really Tom Cruises'?
After several wives and adopted children, why do you think that he decided to conceive naturally this time? I don't know but ever since I first heard about this I have sensed something fishy about it.
the most-anticipated coming attraction in hollywood is finally here.
no, not mission: impossible 3 (although that new trailer is pretty rockin').
its the tom cruise - katie holmes baby, a girl named suri.

i do not agree with your reading of "policy".
i base this on personal experience on a couple of fronts.
1. i have yet to come across a single verifiable of a cover up.
The local body of elders supported the mother the entire time. Now before someone yells "new light" this occurred more than twenty years ago.
So what? There have always been elders brave enough to perform in an honorable way and to do the right thing. The truth is, though, that twenty years ago we were taught that to bring wrongdoing in the congregation to the attention of authorities and people in the community was to be avoided because it would bring reproach to jehovah's name. You can defend them all you want, but the facts remain the facts. Wrongdoing of all types was swept under the carpet so that the appearance would be that the organization was a clean one when nothing could have been further from the truth. Even though there were always professions to the contrary, wife swapping, alcholism, homosexuality, child abuse and other forms of depravity have a long history with this organization.
Just because YOU have not been able to verify these facts does not mean that they did not happen. It simply means that you have not been able to verify them.
Your stand on morality and lying is indeed admirable, even though I feel sorry for your starving wife and children if you would not steal food to save them. I certainly would and not think twice about it.
Unfortunately, your high moral view is not held by the Watchtower organization. They believe in lying and underhanded tactics in the name of protecting their religion. They believe in secret books and secret memos and secret meetings so that the brothers remain ignorant of what their true purpose is.
But then, of course, Jehovah's Witnesses are the Happiest People On Earth!
i have five articles from journals in pdf files written by carolyn r. wah associate general counsel for watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania.
be happy to e-mail to any interested person.
pm me and tell me which youd like e-mailed to you.
Carolyn is a very intelligent woman and a fine attorney.
She is also a very timid, needy woman with many insecurities and she needs the religion as practiced by Jehovah's Witnesses to fill a void in her life. I have always felt that a woman of her intelligence would see right through the teachings of the Watchtower and in some respects she does though she would never admit it publicly. She is committed to the religion and holds on to it like a dying man to a life raft. She needs it. It nourishes her. She would never turn her back on it no matter what they taught. If they were handing out the kool-aid she would be first in line begging for her drink.
It's rather sad, really.
i was on the phone speaking with verne thoren, presiding overseer of the willow springs, nc congregation of jehovah's witnesses.
he tells me he knows of my possesssion of the flock book.
he knows of my involvement on this site.
The Watchtower organization has always engaged in secretive undercover acts that makes what Richie did necessary for any truth about them to be exposed. In seeking the truth about the Watchtower organization we sometimes have no other recourse but to grab information when and where we see it.
I will admit that I too am guilty of pilfering information that I was not supposed to see. Curiosity just got the better of me and I wanted to see what was truly happening within the organization. I have found out some pretty disgusting stuff over the years. If the Watchtower were open about their dealings and did not have secret books and secret memos none of this would be necessary.
Big freaking deal! He took a book. A book that is made available for free. So what.
Let him without sin cast the first stone!
.
lets say an elder that knows his bible very well, and a priest or any high ranking person of any other christian religion who also knows his bible very well, would get together and each with a bible in their hand.....who would come out victorious?.
I believe that the elder would win, hands down.
Not because they have the truth or because the elder knows his Bible better. It is because Jehovah's Witnesses are taught to have all the answers. We know the answer to every Biblical question there is. Because the Bible is a book that is written very vaguely and can be used to support any claim at all that a person wishes to make, we use the Bible to our advantage and make it say everything that will support our beliefs. Most leaders of Christianity when confronted with something that has been a mystery to mankind for years will admit that they do not know. No the witness, Oh, no! He hads an answer for everything and a really plausible one at that.
We are taught week after week, meeting after meeting how to confront any objection or question that comes our way. We use our Bibles like a straight shooter and are willing and able to aim it at any one who challenges us because we know ALL the answers.
i see a lot of talk on this site about all the money wt is making or trying to save.
is there evidence that the governing body or other higher ups are being enriched financially?
i've never heard of anyone getting paid anything for their work within the organization.
Their mindset is ONLY the WORLDWIDE WORK. That is it, nothing else. Publish Publish Publish books books books mags mags mags # # #.
I believe that these publications are an investment. They are distributed to the witnesses and the public, but they are not given away for free. A contribution is encourgaged when the witness picks up his publications and when they are placed in the ministry a contribution is encouraged from the household, which the brothers are encouraged to turn over to the watchtower.
So the Worldwide Work generates an income. It is all money driven and they are no better than the funamentalist religions we see on television. Money is the be all and the end all and it is always couched in spiritual terms to make it seem as if it comes from God. It doesn't. It comes from greed and ultimate power.

You must remember that everyone who makes money does not do it for their own enrichment, per se. Some people do it for the sheer enjoyment of seeing an empire built. I believe that this describes the Governing Body. They do not strive to expand their empire so that they can buy big cars or fine houses or take exotic vacations. It's the power that they experience by being the head of a multi-million dollar corporation. Other big corporations approach them to sit on their Boards, contact them for knowledge in how they put their empire together. They have a huge stock portfolio and are being courted by the bigwigs on Wall Street. It's a real ego booster to be sure.
That being said, they don't live frugally either. Who of us has maids to make our beds, cooks to prepare our meals and a fine retirement home in Upstate New York waiting for us? Not to mention their health insurance paid for, their clothes and anything else they want. Who here can hire private planes to take them where they want to go, who can stay in the finest hotels around the world?
with the recent wt articles stressing how "new light" has appeared over the decades, this article is geared towards making sure individuals are active within the organization in order to ensure their survival.. this article is taken from e-watchman's discussion board, this is not my article.. .

just got a hold of the new may 15, 2006 watchtower containing the study article, "are you prepared for survival?
We were taught at the recent elder's school I attended that to be considered a Jehovah's Witness one has to be engaging in the preaching work.
You can attend all the meetings but that does not indicate that you are a true christian witness. A true christian witness "witnesses" about Jehovah.
i just noticed that the bound volumes of the watchtower and awake magazines for the year 2004 are now up to $80.00 and $70.00, respectively.
the beginning bid was $8.00.
why would these bound volumes be going for so much?
INCREDIBLE!
They went for $100 and $121!
I will be listing mine forthwith!

Why would these bound volumes be going for so much? You can usually buy bound volumes on eBay for just a few dollars. What's so special about 2004?
