  Are JW's generally better than average people?

  i for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

  Hi Rosalee.

  It seems to be it's all semantics. You said that the mature brothers in your congregation are not interested in counting time, but in finding meek ones. Well, they feel that way because the Watchtower organization tells them to. It tells them to go from door to door seeking meek ones to come to Jehovah's. Sounds great, huh? A lofty and noble assignment.

  What the Watchtower organization does not tell the brothers is that their door to door preaching is actually a recruitment technique. Oh, they clothe it in pretty language so that the brothers feel that they are working for Jehovah when, in fact, the brothers are spending their time seeking recruits for the Watchtower organization. It's a multi-tiered operation.

  For example, say you Rosalee are working in field service looking as you call it "for meek ones to come to Jehovah." If you can win that person over, he/she in time will become one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Then that person will engage in the door to door work and find someone else that wants to be a Jehovah's Witnesses. Neither you or your new recruits know the real reason you are being recruited.

  Every new person that the Watchtower recruits with the aid of free salesmen, contributes monetarily to the organization. So every new recruit is money in the bank. Sometimes these new recruits have property that they Will to the society, sometimes they have life savings they they give to the organization. Sometimes, the recruit lives from paycheck to paycheck but because he is told that contributing to the world wide work is something Jehovah wants, he gives a portion of his small earnings each week to the Watchtower. He truly believes that he is doing it for Jehovah, but it is only going to finance a man made organization.

  The bigger the organization becomes the more credible it becomes, the more people it can attract, the richer it becomes, and so on.

  When Pastor Russell declared that organized religion was a snare and a racket, he was just not whistling Dixie.

  Are JW's generally better than average people? Well, average people do not have their habits, tastes and desires legislated by the Watchtower organization, giving the appearance that they are a better class of people.

  Any current Good Standing JW, posting here?

  i was wondering if there are any current regular posters here that are still active , but are mentally inactive and don't believe all the bull anymore, and are just going through the motions to keep their life with friends and family together.. i realize this might be a posting that will probably get 0 replies, but.......

  ROFLMAO!! Your congregation must really feel blessed eh?

  Oh yes, Mary. The PO is always complimenting me on what a fine example I am setting for the congregation.

  I am often called on to give an experience I've encountered in the field service. I have a number of them that I have thought up and written down to be used in an emergency.

  It's just too bad that I cannot take any of the brothers on my many bible studies with me, but I have to always take my wife with me to teach her and to help her make her time. Fortunately we have our own territory card so that we can go out evenings when we don't have meetings. We are always busy in "Jehovah's work."

  What makes it easier is that I am blessed with a wife who is starting to feel the way that I do and who loves to sleep in on weekends.

  Yes, I am still in.

  I am an elder in my congregation and while I feel guilty about it, I just can't step right now.

  I have devised a scheme where I no longer go out in field service. I just write the number of hours, return visits and bible studies on the report every month and no one is the wiser. I must say that my hours are well above the national adverage.

  a few weeks back i had the pleasure in meeting a druid.

  chatting away about all things spiritual he informed me that he was married to a jw.

  imagine my surprise.

  I know a marriage that I always thought was a little peculiar.

  He is a 20 year old from Pennsylvania. She is a 42 year old from Jamaica, the Caribbean island.

  She has 6 children from a previous relationship. Her oldest girl is 16. The children were being cared for by her mother in Jamaica while she came to the United States to work and send money back.

  When these two got married they sent for all six children. They had one child of their own, a daughter.

  I don't want to say more on fear that they are recognized, but that was one coupling I could never understand.

  When reading the above paragraph I could not help but think that Christians wives do not have to sleep with unjust authorities, cook their meals, wash their clothes, bear their children or give these authorities their marital due. So I just don't see how this analogy applies to the relationship between husband and wife.

  I think the whole article is insulting to women and speaks of a time when women were considered property. And again.... Satan the Devil is to blame!

  This board is not for me.

  when i came to this board, i thought that it was for encouragement amoung people who had been treated badly by the wtbts, i did not understand that people were going to come here and bash god, his son and the bible.

  i could understand some embitterment over religion but some of you people are down right insulting.

  not to mention the fact that i have tried to contact others on the board and have had my messages ignored.. .

  I have seen things on this board about God that are just down right insulting.

  Do you really believe that an Almighty God needs you to champion him? If God feels that he is being insulted I believe that he is capable of taking care it himself.

  Jehovah's great justice

  It's the idea that Jehovah had to test his creations to see that they loved him that gets me.

  Why did he have to test them? He created them, he was their father, he loved them and they loved him. Why did they have to be tested? It seems strange to me. I have children and I cannot imagine giving them a test to see if they loved me. Was it just obedience? What child listens to their parent all the time. Why couldn't he just forgive them and move on. Why all the drama? "Do what I tell you to do or I'll kill you." Did he really love them when he could give them an ultimatum like that?

  But God loves drama doesn't he? In addition he appears to be needy, demanding constant praise and a bit petulant. It's little wonder why Satan and his cohorts rebeled against him.

  more "odds and ends".

  i liked lyman swingle (governing body member)......he knew when to curse at the right time.

  i think, thats why i went to him, when i was having so much trouble with debbie's parents.......he seemed "cool" and down to earth.............he might have been bit of a racist though.. one time a self righteous (known as sr) new boy, went to him and complained about what he heard in the bindery..........."brother swingle" the kid said "i heard some brothers cursing, in the bindery!

  Hi newboy. I really enjoyed reading your experiences while you were serving at Bethel, but this cannot be the end of your stories.

  How did you and your wife fare after marriage? If it's not too personal I would like to know. Also, what prompted your departure from the witnesses (you are not still a witness are you?).

  I am so caught up in your story I want to know, more, more!

  The Public Talk yesterday was about nothing......................again!

  i try to attend some sunday meetings just to keep peace in my family .but,it is almost unbearable to listen to these public talks.yesterday,the talk was about adam and eve and how they ate the forbidden fruit.how they sinned and now we are all sinners.how they were thrown out of paradise .how the angels came down and had relations with females.that jesus died for our sins.

  only jehovah's witnesses who are faithful to the end will inherit paradise earth.the earth will be here to time indefinite.the survivors will never die after the 1000 year reign is over.. how many times have we heard this talk?

  how many more times can they pound these talks into everyone's brain?

  We had a visiting brother give the Public Talk yesterday.

  He was an absolutely horrible speaking.

  He used the word "actually" in each and every sentence he spoke. "Actually" this and "actually" that.

  It was maddening.

  Governing Body Going After eBay

  hello everyone.. i don't if this has been posted before.

  if it has i apologize, but maybe my version will add to what is already known.. my brother is a district overseer.

  the society sometimes places conferences calls to do's, co's and other overseers, especially when it is something that they do not want to put in writing.

  My wife just told me that she learned from the sister-in-law that the Society is worried that witnesses who browse eBay for books and other items are often exposed to anti-witness dogma and they are beginning to ask questions of their elders in the congregation.

  So it is not just the copyrights that are bothering them about eBay, it is also because eBay is causing some witnesses to question what they have been taught.

  Yeah, eBay!
