Hi Michael, I can appreciate where you are coming from. I ususally had three or four usual assignments a week on the platform. I was BS conductor, WT study conductor, 2nd school overseer, KH maintenance and about a zillion other jobs. I was always buzzing to the Assembly Hall for maintenance or helping some sister who seemed to move about 3 times a year from one apt to another. Never any time to do even one thing let alone have a real hobby etc. I have discovered many things I love to do since I left.

How many out here.....
by tazmaniac inhow many out here know a loved one or know of someone who suffers from depression and it is from being in the borg and never feel you are doing enough.
my ex wife would always lapse into a few month state of depression right after a visit from the c/o and getting pounded on about f/s hours or not enough studies or not enough pioneers yadda yadda yadda.
i know with my ex that the constant fear of armageddon and feeling inadequate was a depression trigger ready to be pulled at any instant.

I dont remember the chaps name but he was CO in florida area for quite a while. Once on the Wednesday service meeting he gets up to the platform and announces that he sent his letter in to the society and was being removed as a CO. He was in an on going affair with a publisher who had fallen away. The PO just got up and went into the service meeting that would normally have take place that night. It was quite shocking to say the least. Many in the cong loved going out in service with him because he had a keen wit and could turn almost any situation at the door into something of a positive nature. Does anyone remember this or the name of the CO ??

Was Isaac SEXUALLY ABUSED?
by Gamaliel inhere is the second in my "wild speculation" series, the last one being:.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/10/49483/1.ashx did the prophet daniel commit suicide?
(based on evidence of his increasingly desperate chronology adjustments).

I never really understood or promoted the WT view that Jehovah HAD to allow the early forefathers to have additional wives (even to the extreme) in order to populate the nation. I mean....jeez...ya cant take blood to save your life but you could, under certain circumstances, boink as many wives, concubines etc because it populated the nation. Then another was the poor slob that got caught screwing his neighbors wife would get dragged to some public place and he and his paramour would be stoned. Meanwhile David screws Bathsheba, has her husband sent on a death mission yet David is not stoned.....nope......because his lineage had to be preserved because messiah was coming thru his line. I mean come on. The king had to read the law in a undertone...day and night. I guess David missed that day. Oh well, Thats my rant and rave for the day. ........ Taz

Alternatives to JWism
by gitasatsangha ini know most witnesses leave indivudually, and some, like me, want nothing to do with their theology afterwords, but i am curious, sometimes, why there hasn't been more of a schim or general exedus over much of the more recent stupidity at wtbs.
i was thinking that it was because there was no alternative to the iron grip of the gb, for those who believe in the many of the jw things but have no recourse except the authoritative structure, but the bible student groups that did not kowtow to rutherford have been around since the twenties.
i don't know much about them, but i met a few bible students and they were nice.

All I know is that when I was in I would defend WT policy/beliefs to the death. Even when I first heard that Michael Jackson was a witness and was going from door to door on the weekends and hiding his identity. I was like....nope nope nope. Its a lie. Then when I heard that it was true I was like...Jehovah will take care of it in his own due time. When I was looking in Time magazine many years ago I came across the article about Ray Franz. I thought he was the devil himself. Now I have devoured his books and have tremendous respect for him. It is amazing the hold that this group hold on you. But now...once out it reminds me of the hold that Jim Jones had in Gyuana. My alternative to JWism....ENJOY LIFE WITH ALL THAT IT HOLDS. Regards, Taz

Then & Now
by RAYZORBLADE ini think this post may be an absolute: no brainer
personally, when i was an active naive jw, i studied the bible and could rattle scriptures off, left right and centre.

To me it is like....if this is supposed to be gods message for everyone. And he is interested in each one of us and "and desires non to be destroyed but attain to repentance". Then why is it so convoluted. With something as complicated as life in this human body you would think that the bible would or should be like an easy to read, exhaustive instruction manual. I dont know what or who to believe anymore. I think I am more like a universal unitarian now. Well thats my two cents and if you want change back...just email me and I will send you a coupon for something. Taz

It was funny the other day. I was in a parts wholesalers showroom. Lots of guys picking up parts etc. Many of the guys laughing and carrying on. Here I am at the counter and an M/S (maybe an elder by now) comes into the same showroom. He talks and chuckles with all the "worldly guys", like they are all old fishing buddies. Then he sees me and just shuts up. Like I am worse that all those worldly guys put together. But I cant blame him. I know in my "witness til death mode", I was tried and true and if I ran into someone like me I would do the same exact thing. I remember once at the KH when a former elder came to the meeting (at that point DF). He had about 2 years earlier taken off with an M/S's wife. We all made sure he felt as icy cold as possible.

A Gruesome Tale from the Great White North
by OUTLAW init`s time for a true horror story,heh-heh-heh...i`ve been doing a bit of logging up here and have met some interesting characters..one fellow has been a logger for many years.one man,in one of the crews,in the company he worked for had a terrible accident..this fellow had just found a gi-normus tree the wind had blown down.the tree was laying on it`s side with a mountian of dirt stuck to its root base.there was alot of lumber on this tree, and he was going to cut the tree from the root base so it could be loaded on a truck.the logger made the cut and now it was time for lunch.it started raining, and there was this nice dry spot under the root base of the tree he had just cut.so he sat there and ate his lunch....the end of the day came, and no one could find the logger who had cut this giant tree down.they looked everywhere, nothing.they came back 3 days in a row, they couldn`t find a trace of the logger.finally they realised the only place they hadn`t looked was under the the stump of the great tree he had cut..when they tipped that root base back on it`s side they found the logger crushed to death with his lunch....with no great tree to hold the root base on it`s side, the root base righted itself and killed the logger and totally ruined his lunch,lol!..strange but true

Did you see in the Wall Street Journal a few weeks ago about the 70 foot god being carved from some stone. It toppled and killed 5 and injured 7 others. It was some indian (india indian) god. The comment was something to the effect "was their god mad at them or did he not care". I can remember in my witness days when I woulda chuckled and reasoned that the demons were probably having a good time.

I thought it was a cool show. I agree that all those old timers in one room was something else. Cheryl Ladd looks like she hasn't aged too much since her famed bikini scene start as one of Charlie's angel. I really like Dick Van Dyke. I only caught the last 45 mins of the show. I hope someone taped it or maybe they will re-broadcast soon. It was funny seeing Gabe Kaplan from Welcome Back Kotter fame. I used to love watching that show. Especially when Vinnie Barberino didnt catch on and would say "what". Reminded me of a few brothers in my old congregation.
