  remember when you were a kid and played that game where one person started a story and passed it off to the next person?

  with all the talent and diversity on the board, i thought it would be interesting to see what happens.

  Ash figured he'd be better off trying to keep Zara off his mind. He went and got the morning paper off the doorstep and brought it back to the table. The headline read "Jehovazoids declare intergalactic battle on Earth". Ash wasn't surprised. The Jehovazoids were always pissing off the American government with their alien cross-breeding experiments. So far, 114 humans had been artificially inseminated with alien sperm.

  Just then, the phone rang. Ash jumped a little as the ring from his rotary phone had frightened him. He picked it up.

  "Hello?"
  "Ash, It's Turner!"

  Turner was Ash's good friend who was helping the American government build weaponds in preparation for the intergalactic battle.

  "Listen Ash, I need a really big favor. Do you have any cloves?"....

  New to the board

  hello, just wanted to introduce myself.

  was raised as one from about 4 to 16. mother jw and still in, father and 2 brothers never were.

  just within the past 6 months or so realizing the effects of being raised jw has had on me.

  i asked my mom this recently, and did not get an answer ..... she just said because it's the truth, and became very flustered.. death ???.

  kids falling into drugs ???.

  pregnancy ???.

  JWs stay in the religion because they don't have the ability to lead their own lives. They have no self-control which keeps getting them into trouble. They need a leader, and the Watchtower has the bait to draw people in. It's just like teasing a puppy with a treat. That puppy will follow you as long as you keep letting him sniff the treat and holding it above his head.

  he told me the bros were very very concerned about the latest court proceedings concerning blainville.

  seems the wt thinks it might lose.

  Heh, like Jehovah's really gonna help them. Yeah. Jehovah's too vengeful.

  This is definately a sign of the last days. Jehovah doesn't need his earthly organization anymore, so he's letting it get sued out of existance. The end is right around the corner, and it's not even 1975!

  As for my thoughts on this issue, I have no problem with the Watchtower being involved in another court case that they could lose. In my opinion, this is their punishment for years of control and emotionally tearing apart innocent humans, and for protecting pedofiles causing the harm of innocent children.

  I really could care less if JWs are the ones being singled out.

  Hi Lady Lee! Hope all is well with you :)

  Guess I should put my story in here. When I was in grade 7, I was getting teased and beat up a lot - mostly because I was a Witness, and my mother forced me to wear ugly hand-me-downs. I was getting kicked, punched, hit with objects (hard cover textbooks) etc. I prayed like crazy, asking Jehovah for help. Things got worse when I noticed that I was shaking with fear while walking to school and during school. I was damn near the point of a nervous breakdown. The problem got a bit better when summer holidays rolled around.

  Throughout the whole year, I prayed to Jehovah for help, but I didn't get any. I learned that you have to deal with your own problems rather than relying on a vengeful god to fix them.

  Remember JW's saying about doing "Sacred Service?", and other issues >>>

  in other words, sacred "feild service" to jehovah.

  does anyone else remember people using this phrase - sacred service??

  while to be honest, i have nothing against spreading your beliefs door to door (hey, it's a free country), i never quite got the whole idead behind having to do it, or else!

  Yeah, I've heard the term "Sacred Service", it was mostly from older brothers. They keep changing their f*cking terms and confusing everybody. Remember "Book Study Conductor"? According to the JWs teachings, you're supposed to follow in the footsteps of Jesus which includes preaching the good news and dying on a torture stake.

  3/4 of Canadians want JWs to get a permit

  the toronto globe and mail did a survey, asking if jws should be required to get a permit to go door to door.

  too bad the courts don't agree.

  The 27% who said "NO" were probably made up of mostly JWs & Mormons.

  If the JWs needed a permit, Jehovah would require a payment for the "privelage" of being an unbaptized publisher. Field Service & Driving are privelages, not rights.

  My Active JW Mother Told Me They Have Sold Several KHs

  my mother who has been a jw for 38 years told me last night that the society had said they don't have the funds like they used to for the kingdom halls.

  their congregation just sold theirs last month and another in their area just sold (michigan).

  they say they are building double khs instead.

  Haven't heard much about here, but apparently they're re-paving the driveway at my mother's KH. It's a double KH, and 3 congregations share it.

  What if the Watchtower Changed .......

  if the watchtower changed it's blood doctrine to one where publishers could do what their conscience dictated without fear of reprisals from the brothers, if they also quit using the two witness rule and said all criminal accusations must be reported to the police, if they stopped shunning, if they said all df and da'd could associate with their friends and family, if they apologized to ray franz and all others who were hurt by their policies; would exjws respect their dogma and refrain from putting down their religious beliefs to their faces?.

  this is an important question, more important than you know.

  If though, the Watchtower changes the major problems that cause harm to people wouldn't that be great and a reason for rejoicing?

  The thing is, an incredible amount of their teachings are harmful. There would have to be a LOT of changes for me to completely accept them. I would rejoice if they eliminated even one of their harmful teachings, however you can't take one bad apple out of a bunch of spoiled ones to make it look better. It would just indicate that they're beginning to understand that some things are incredibly wrong.

  I would like to see the Watchtower make a 180 degree turn - begin helping people with their deep-rooted problems, and helping them improve their lives. They have a little of that with their references to the bible that smoking, drug addiction, etc is bad, but they need to go further with it to make people better themselves rather than discouraging them from getting professional help and giving them a Watchtower or Awake on the subject of their problems.
