What the hell was he doing outside the Assembly hall? Everyone knows that the safest place is INSIDE Jehovah's house.

What's The Best/Easiest Way To Get Your Computer Running Faster?

Get rid of Windows and install some form of Linux. Seriously, I've got a dual boot: Win2k and Ubuntu. Ubuntu boots WAY faster than Win2k, the internet is faster, program loading is faster, and everything in general is faster and more responsive. Win2k has slowed down horribly, and I spent 2 hours cleaning out a really nasty piece of spyware last weekend.
If you want blazing fast, go with PCFluxboxOS. -

Mother-in-law gets a letter from JWs
by Jim_TX infirst - let me point out that (for those that do not know this), neither my wife nor any of her family are jws.
my wife studied with a jw - but that was many years ago.
she never got too far into the jw religion - but got a knowledge of what - and who they are.

My mother-in-law filters out her dad's mail. He's in a home with alzheimers, so she takes care of the business end of everything.
About a month after my MIL's mother died, she filtered through the mail and found a letter addressed to her dad. She opened it and found a letter along with the tract "Hope for Loved Ones who Cacked". She was pretty pissed off about that one. -

Wow, the year is 2008, and still no Armageddon!
by Nosferatu inevery time we enter a new year, i think about how i wasn't supposed to make it this long.
i really believed we wouldn't live past the year 2000, and armageddon would change everything.
it almost strikes me as living on borrowed time, but then i remember that armageddon is a story, not a reality.

But here we are in 2008, still alive, and still living in this so-called wicked system of things.
Anybody else get any weird feelings or thoughts when we enter a new year? -

- "Mr. Devine declined to estimate the cost of the renovation of the Italian Renaissance Revival-style building, with its white pillars and crystal chandeliers, but said it was “in the millions.”"
Millions as in the materials used to restore it with volunteers, or millions as in the materials plus what it WOULD have cost to use paid workers? -

What are your Guilty Pleasures of a geeky/nerdy variety?
by Crumpet ini don't mean the ones we know about already - things people wouldn't think you did or enjoyed to look at you.. i love watching ray mears extreme survival and learning about how to survive and find food and shelter in extreme climates even though there is a strong possibility that i shall never try and escape naked from a japanese prisoner of war camp, or crash without a flagon of water into the sahara, or come stuck in my ship in a freezing ice plateau in deepest antartica.
.
what's your guilty geeky pleasure?.

I'm into all kinds of "geeky" stuff. Old computers, electronics, really bad albums, old technology, Linux. I just modified an old computer power supply so I can use it on my workbench in the garage for powering things up (instead of searching for a damn adapter). Besides, this thing puts out a nice 8A - more power than I'll ever need :)
My blog is full of "geeky" stuff if you wanna check it out:

Memorial going to all in my circuit and partake of all wines!!! Hick up!!
by Witness 007 inmy plan = go to all the memorials in our triple sized hall and partake of all wines...first i pick up the glass check it's texture, sniff it...then down the hatch..."mmmm excellent vintage quiet fruity with a hint of cinnamon.
" then when the bread arrives ill say "no thank you i'm on the atkin's diet.
" i think i could make it to at least 6-8 different meetings that night at our complex...although i think i will be very drunk by the 5th meeting.

Regardless of what we do or don't do, we're evil apostates. Besides, JWs make things up when they need something to gossip about.
Enjoy your free booze :)
