Prayers at mealtime!!?

who still find it strange years on to dive straight into your mail meal without 'giving thanks'?

i say main meal, because dad's prayers were always considerably lengthy before a main meal, and are an institution in every jw household.

even now after a few years i'm just about ready to tuck in when i find myself saying a simple thanks under my breath.

Praying to give thanks for a meal is much nicer and more positive than a person only praying when they *want* something from God.

I'm going to Bethel... Wanna Come?

so my mother suprised me about a week ago by telling me we are going on a bus trip to bethel from april 13-17. for those of you who aren't used to this concept, american dubs seem to think that packing themselves on the bus with 60 other witnesses and driving for 4 days is somehow going to strengthen themselves spiritually.

well, i doubt that will work for me.

i was just wondering, is there anything i should look for/ be on the alert for?

Go to NYC (with headphones.)
Make sure you have your own cash/ATM card on you, not in your mum/dad's purse/wallet or anything.

Fake a stomach cramp.
While you're bent over moaning and wailing, lick your palms.
It's kind of childish and stupid, but then again, so is a Bethel tour.
(Ferris Bueller, you're my hero.)

Convince your mum and dad to let you stay in bed in the hotel all day while they go and look at exciting presses.
As soon as they leave - sod off to all the touristy places and have a really great time!!!

But I'd go, and look pityingly at all the Bethelites and make loud comments like "Gosh that looks expensive." and "Where do you pulp all the Old Light?" and "I bet 99%-100% of this paper is recycled, right?" (no idea if it is, but would be interesting to find out!).

Question about Pope and Embalming

i heard the pope wasn't embalmed.

can someone shed some light on why he wasn't embalmed and how they prevented his body from decaying all week long.

is he on ice?

He doesn't look anything like he did when he was alive, and his skin looks really strange, like wax - I thought that was because of embalming, so is that just what dead people look like?

i joined classmates a few days ago... just a temporary membership...to see what it's all about.

when you're a member you can join message boards that have to do with interests you might have.

one of those groups discusses religion, and it's one of the largest groups.

There was a message on the front page saying they were having hardware trouble (for a change). Is Total Fark down too? I might have to start subscribing if it's a) going to contribute toward better hardware and b) not keep going down.

I'm so surprised that there were two(?) active JWs posting... like I said in one of my posts:

"What the fark are you doing on Fark then? Politics, boobies, weeners, swearing, the pickle incident... not very "watch how you walk" is it? (Although - it's a great thing that you're breaking their rules... well done!)"

I wouldn't go on the Internet at all if I was still as much of a JW as I used to be - let alone go on Fark! Those JWs are more close to being out than they think!

Oh and although I got all warm and fuzzy seeing so many Ex-JW Farkers and Farkettes, it was even better every time there was a comment saying "OMFG I amd *never* going to be a JW!".
