Daddy, why did we have to attack Iraq?
by Larry indaddy, why did we have to attack iraq?.
questions and answers about foreign policy (and the u.s. invasion of iraq).
anyway, saddam hussein came to power through a military coup, so he's not really a legitimate leader anyway.

Even JW Children are stupid!
by PopeOfEruke inmy wife is a teacher and she had a class today, where she played a game with the kids.
one child came forward and stood facing the class with her back to the blackboard.
another kid wrote "minnie mouse" above her head on the blackboard; the purpose of the game being that she had to guess "who" she was, by asking the class questions.

Are there a proportionate number of JW kids throughout the year group or are they all bundled in one class? I suppose it would cut down on disruption to lessons (except for that class).
Just fascinated - went through primary school one of three JW kids at the most (out of about 600 kids altogether) and senior school as one of five at the most (out of 1,500).
I was never in the same class as a JW, and I only had worldly friends at school. -

Movies and TV Shows You Didn't Watch Because You Were A JW
by minimus inthis week i mentioned how i never saw the movie "ghost" because it was considered "demonistic".
i also volunteered that that i could not watch "bewitched", although "i dream of jeannie" was a conscience matter......any thing you didn't watch because you were a witness?

Glad they caught the little sods - part of their punishment should be to do the loos at the next few hall cleanings.

Hi and a question
by irishayes ini have been lurking for a few days and wanted to ask a question.
i stumbled on this website because i have an aquaintance who is a jw and i wanted to learn more about this religion.. first off, let me say that i am a christian.. my question is this: in reading a lot of posts, i see that many of you have left the religion because you believe the wbts has not been truthful in their interpretation of scriptures and because of their incorrect prophecies.
but it seems many of you still believe that they were correct in their belief that the trinity is totally a wrong teaching.

I find it so sad that the WBTS has so disillusioned people that they are completely turned off to religion now.
Not in my case - being disillusioned by the Society made me want to know God more and *not* take it out on Him... so I began to read the Bible from the beginning - I was horrified and *that* is why I know the God of the Bible is not worthy of my worship if He even exists. The WTBTS isn't to blame for that one! -

Do You Study the Bible With Your Kids?
by roybatty inwhen we were jws, studying with our kids, pumping their little minds with the wt's teaching was a top priority.
i remember studying the wt with them, then the biblereading, then the bookstudy, the the great teacher book, etc.
it seemed like it never ended.

The Bible isn't a suitable book for children.

As JW did you Recycle? Did you give to Charities? Do You Now?
by xjw_b12 inthis is to expound on what fe203girl said in an earlier topic.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/69666/1094454/post.ashx#1094454.
it always bothered me as jw, just how little social and global responsibility we felt responsible for.

I'm no different - I wanted to help then and I still do. It annoyed the hell out of me when I mentioned (as a child) doing something for Comic Relief (maybe I brought a form to get sponsors after the bookstudy) and I was told that "all those problems are caused by governments (even droughts and floods?!) - they could help if they wanted to... you should not be political" - I was about 8! Give me 50p for my sponsored swim!
You get funny looks if you ask whether WT stuff is printed on recycled paper or from sustained forest schemes, like no-one would ever think of doing something so worldly! -

WT illegal doctrine
by itsallgoodnow inafter reading the nov 1 1999 questions from readers about voting... http://www.jwfiles.com/vote.htm.
i'm wondering if they felt they needed to change their teachings on this because they feared legal action against them for disenfranchising their people.
am i on the right track with this?

Wow, I remember seeing that, but I wasn't looking out for changes then - I'll have to go and get that WT to show my mum (when she's calmed down a bit from her Memorial-induced JW-ness). Although, she *did* vote in a local referendum about a month ago, so she's not totally brainwashed.
