My mum was taught the old sheep and goats doctrine and the old generation doctrine. I remember the meeting where we learned of the change - first time I realised "Faithful and Discreet Slave" meant actual people!
QUESTION : Why is Hubert's and Stilla's IP the same?
Yeah, that's weird, I noticed that in this thread too. It isn't in the initial post though.

Were the doors locked at your KH, during meetings?
by JH ini remember a time when the brothers locked the doors during a meeting.
if you arrived late, they had to come and unlock the door to let you in.
i also remember a time when they weren't locked.

I think my KH's doors were locked but opened during the middle song - there were often about 4 people who left - normally with grumbly/tired kids, no-one ever had to ask for it to be unlocked. Very occasionally we'd just stay for the Public Talk (was a compromise to get us to go if we were feeling a little bit unwell or whatever).
In the summer the fire escape doors were always wide open though - you can't open a window when there aren't any or they don't open, lol. -

This came out about the time I joined the forum I think.
Yes it's the same WT we all know and love. :)
IIRC the owner of the company is a JW or JW sympatiser or something and the shares are a gift donation - don't see the *refusing* the money though... Use the search engine here to find the original threads.
Also interesting is that the sunset cover photograph of the "United in Worship of the Only True God" paperback is credited to.... the United States Navy. The only other photo credit is to the UN. LOL. Like they *had* to get a photo of a sunset from the *Navy*, there's no other way... LOL. -

I wasn't born into the troof, so I was in and out in one generation and not so much as a droplet of baptism water - yay me. :)
So out of my mum, my sister, and me - that's one inactive-but-believing-most-of-it witness still left (mum), one who can't be arsed either way (sister) and one neverevereverever going to believe it again - me.
Of course mum thinks it's *her* fault we're not baptised... -

District Assembly, Elland Road, Leeds about 15 years ago
by New Worldly Translation inthis memory just came to me and i wondered of anyone else remembered it.
it was at the district assembly where the questions young people ask book was launched.
all the young ones had to move and sit together in one stand of the football stadium.

I told me mum the applause story - and she said I wasn't in the kids section because they asked kids 10 and over to be in that section - so that's why I don't remember it. Me being under 10 puts it before June 1991. I think 1990 would be about right.
I think I was only at a Hillsborough convention (in 1985 or 1986) one year before it started being at Leeds, I remember sitting on blankets on the terraces... *shudder*.
I loved it being at Don Valley in Sheffield - nice clean new stadium and could get the bus home in about 15 minutes! We used to pop back to let the dog out at lunchtime! -

Wonder if some brother just got fed up and left it there, never to return to the fold?
That would be a *great* exit story.
"Yeah, my briefcase got blown up by the bomb squad, I took that as a sign." -

I just felt awful for the brother who left it there (because he's a nice guy), imagine, put the box down for a few minutes, *maybe* forget about it and do something else and BOOM paper comes fluttering down! *So* embarrassing!

I would have been there - but I can't remember that... I remember I got the YPA at a convention though but only remember *having* it when going home. Dammit, I wish I'd been older, I probably wouldn't have been brave enough to go down to sit on my own with the other kids or wouldn't have cottoned on that you were taking the piss or something at 8/9.
It's bloody hilarious though!
Do you remember in about '99 when the bomb squad blew up a suspicious package at Leeds that turned out to be a box of Bibles? I read about that on Ceefax - the brother who left them there, I later found out, was in my congregation (when I used to go). -
