  I have been watching you very closely to see if you have been good this
  year and since you have I will be telling my elves to make some goodies for me
  to leave under your tree at Christmas.

  I was going to bring you all gifts from the 12 days of Christmas, but we had a little problem.

  The 12 fiddlers fiddling have all come down with VD from fiddling with the 10 ladies
  dancing, the 11 lords leaping have knocked up the 8 maids-a-milking, and the 9
  pipers piping have been arrested for doing weird things to the 7 swans-a-swimming.
  The 6 geese a-laying, 4 calling birds, 3 French hens, 2 turtle doves and the
  partridge in a pear tree have me up to my sled runners in bird shit.
  
  On top of all this Mrs. Claus is going through menopause, 8 of my reindeer
  are in heat, the elves have joined the gay liberation and some people who
  can't read a calendar have scheduled Christmas for the 5th of January.
  
  Maybe next year I will be able to get my shit together and bring you the
  things you want. This year I suggest you get your asses down to Walmart
  before everything is gone.

  my ear is ringing really loud right now...i just got off the phone w/our very own jesika and she was very excited.

  as she proceded to pierce my ear drum she relayed to me that channel 8 news is coming to her house today for an interview...guess what they will be discussing?!!!

  it aint the weather that's for sure!.

  how do i get over a broken heart?

  my daughter, 25 a witness will not let me see my granddaughter anymore and she misses me and i miss her...i have been very ill and this is the worse thing on top of everything...how do you go on living and try to pretend this beautiful little girl dosen't exist?i need some help...thank you.... .

  Nancy, I'm so sorry you are suffering this way. I have heard of court ordered visitations for grandparents, so I would definitely talk to a lawyer as soon as you can. I'm sorry you've been ill, and I hope you feel better real soon.

  Non-JW needs advice

  first off, those who have left the watchtower are extraordinarily courageous and thank you so much for having the fortitude to post your stories publicly.

  you are all no doubt helping untold numbers of people.

  i am catholic and i have a friend who is a jw.

  agr8day, it's always very sad to hear of stories like this, but it's not that uncommon. To answer your questions, Yes jw's are still disfellowshipped for smoking. And, association of any kind with "worldly" people is strongly discouraged and your friend would most likely be counselled by the elders if they were to become aware of it, but she wouldn't be disfellowshipped simply for talking to you or her other non witness friends. It's strongly discouraged though. I would say keep the lines of communication open, allowing her to bring up doubts or questions she may have whenever she wants to, if that happens. Associating with non witnesses would cause her to be considered "weak" as a jw by the Hardcore jw's. I would say just be there for her, and let her bring up subjects if or when she chooses. She obviously cares for you and wants to talk to you, so just be there as a friend would, and let her lead the conversation if she discusses jw issues. Just be her friend.

  Condolences to Jayson..

  he is now travelling, a 6 hour drive, and will be back with us in a few days.

  When to put up Christmas decorations?

  the kids are very keen on having a christmas tree and some decorations.. is there any date these are supposed to go up or are we going to look really silly having it up mid november ?

  Simon, we put up our decorations and tree the weekend following Thanksgiving and we leave it up until the first weekend after New Years. Sometimes even longer!! LOL

  I love all the colored lights, but my fiance' likes the white ones, so we'll put a big mixture of them inside and outside. I love driving down the neighborhoods that have decked out their entire block with a particular theme. One year I drove down a very long road where everyone strung lights on the trees at the edge of the street with red and white lights, making it look like the street was lined with candy canes! So cool!!

  I can hardly wait till Thanksgiving is over!!! We're going to get a real tree this year, since I've only had a fake one, and we're going to decorate all over the house. We even have an animated, dancing Santa that's over four foot tall that sings and "dances" and has a sensor to start up whenever someone walks by him. LOL

  I want a pair of animated, singing Mickey and Minnie that I saw a couple years ago but haven't found it yet. Anyone know where I can find them? They are soooo cute!!!
