  TRICKY SITUATION update

  some of you responded to a recent thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.aspx?id=35873&site=3.. last week i was confronted by the lady next door asking me if i had reported her to the social services.

  i had not and told her so.

  she then went on to say that although her partner and her did have loud arguments, the children were not at risk.

  Hello, my name is Shelley(mamshel). I read this and was shaking with anger. The problem is, social services can be called and MIGHT get involved, but the biggest problem is is if there are no marks on the child all they will do is make a record of the information. I dont know what the laws are where you live, but i live in ohio and my husband and i just had his sister removed from her home away from her abusive mother and father. You can read the thread under My story under Jesikas name, and the update unders mamashel's thread Thank you for all your help. The other issue that is very very unfortunate is that if the mother does not make a decision to leave or keeps allowing him to return, there is not much the police or any other agency will do. I know because of experience. My first husband used to beat me, and everytime i would call the police, they would tell me the same thing, if you continue to let him back there is nothing we can do. I feel so bad for these women, because alot of people dont understand the fear of leaving someone like that. The one i was with told me he would kill me if i left. But i finally had to make up my mind that he had a better chance of killing me if i stayed. If she gets a restraining order, and lets him back, it is totally null and void.

  It is nice to see someone that is concerned though. I hope things turn out well.

  Hard to celebrate holidays after leaving the Org.?

  for those of you who grew up in 'the troof', after leaving, did you find it hard or uncomfortable in any way to celebrate holidays and bithdays since you had no ties to them whatsover?

  if so, how did you deal with it?

  I didnt grow up in the troof, but my hubby did. Now that we are no longer in, i plan on celebrating the holidays. It feels a little funny, because we just in the last 6 months became completely inactive and no longer attend meeting. He is a little more reluctant to celebrate holidays, but he doesnt object for the kids. But being that his b-day is this month on the 18 and i have a nice present in lay-a way for him, i think he'll be just fine.hehe

  Just take it one step at a time, if it is what you really want then do it. Dont not do it because of fear of what someone else might think.

  eyegirl and scooter bday party pic

  i started a thread saturday morning about eyegirl and i getting ready to attend our brother's 30th bday party.

  what a blast we had!

  lot of laughs (omg...... only strange thing of the weekend was heading over to our grandma's for lunch on sunday, driving up and seeing mom and dad's truck parked in the driveway (they are still active dubs).

  i found it humorous and sad and revealing when i was in jerhover's borganization that this is the reaction i often got from the younger, raised in the troof jws.

  reading facial expressions and body language, it was more than apparent to me that they were thinking, "you mean you weren't forced into this??

  you actually chose to be a jw??!!".

  Dan, i think we experienced this to a point, because my hubby was raised jw, and i married into it and was baptized later. When i met my husband he was df'd and not attending meetings. So when we got married he wanted to go back so i went with him. I was baptized in about a year. But people always looked at us funny when we told our story, like OMG, he must have met her in the world and married her. What a terrible thing to do as a jw, didnt matter that i had become one, just that he got involved with a worldly girl.

  Ah well, they always have to have something to talk about dont they, cause their doctrine certainly becomes old hat after a while

  my dumb boring JW experience

  i gave a very brief version of my wt experience when i was a newbie here, but i thought i'd share the details a little more now that i've gained some distance and feel that i can post more objectively about it.

  i was born in november of 1970. i grew up in a dysfunctional family (like everybody).

  my mother was particularly controlling, she was extremely insecure and therefore expected perfection from her children, lest they reflect badly on her and cause her to doubt herself.

  OMG, this sound so much like me, it is scarey. We did what we liked to call "hall hopping". When we would first walk into a hall (and there were 9 of us in our family) we would be swarmed with people. Once we started attending and things died down, or they started talking about us, we would change halls and try another. Never ever to be satisfied. The final straw was that my 17 year old daughter was studying for baptism and became pregnant by a baptized "brother" and they took away all her privilages and told her she had to wait to be baptized and 2 "sisters" told her she was too "worldly". Well needless to say i went off on them and we just decided that that was enough. The biggest part was that the young man DID NOT loose his privilages, and he was only counseled. HHhhmmmmm what's wrong with that picture. But they neithe one are going to the hall either, so that is the good news.

  I read about this in Crisis of Conscience. He told about a man in another country, that he had anal sex with another woman, and his wife went to the elders about it, and she divorced him, and was df'd for remarrying. I believe it was the same with another situation that a womans husband was having sex with animals, and she told the elders she could no longer live with this man, and they told her she had no scriptural reasons for leaving him, and was df'd. The other situation with the anal sex, the wife was told that they did not become one flesh and that it was not in a way that could result in child birth.

  UUUHHHH, i think anal sex would be considdered one flesh, since flesh is touching, (scratching her head)

  wouldnt it???

  Just sickening.

  Sabine, YOU GO GIRL.

  That' s what I'm talkin about, 28 years, i cant wait until i can say that. So many people were against us and said it would never last. Well 10 1/2 years later, we are more in love than ever. Especially after leaving the jw's.

  As far as bi-racial children(which are some of the most beautiful people on earth)we have to teach them how to deal with society as a whole. I dont believe things are as bad as they used to be for bi-racial children, but again that might be because it is so common where we live. And 2 of my 4 bi-racial children are so dark that some people cant even tell they are mixed. But they havn't had any problems in school that I have known about, except for haters!!!

  But as I said before, we try our best to teach them to ignore ignorance.

  This is a very touchy subject for alot of people i know. But I love people in general of all races.

  My husband and i are a biracial couple. I have 6 children, 2 from previous marriage and 4 biracial children. I can honestly say (we live in Columbus, Ohio) we have never really experienced any problems here, but when we lived in Tennessee, there were so many bigots, it was unreal. And the vast majority of them were at the hall. When we went out in field service down there, this is no lie, we were told if we went to a door together NOT to introduce ourselves as husband and wife, that they would automatically shut the door in our face.

  We have taught our children to respect themselves for who they are and to respect others too, and to ignore ignorance.

  He is the love of my life and so are the kids. I couldnt care less what the others think.
