1) many who were on the destructive path have been transformed by their teachings (this includes me who was once vicious, and presumptuous and atheistic).

2) equal monthly pay to all members of the bethel community regardless of whether they are bc members or sweepers.

this is something that still remains as an unattainable dream for the world.

So in other words, what I'm hearing you say is no matter how large/deep/bloody and infected with bacteria the wound is, it doesn't matter as long as you slap a smiley band aid onto it even though the blood and bacteria is gushing from all ends and pretend the wound isn't there?

Any organization that protects and covers up pedophiles while a child has and is being raped is automatically poison. Who cares about the shiny surface if the core is dark. Watch the Australian Royal Commission for starters.

As for all the other points, release yourself from the WT cage. Branch out into life and you'll see all the points you mentioned and so much more in so many other aspects of life, except they don't include the poison.

what is it like to have that one true friend?

growing up in the org, i never really had friends.

i had many acquaintances, some of which were worldly.

A true friend is someone who allows you to safely strip away all the masks and knows you, your very true essence, accepts and loves you.

Your wife sounds like the very foundation of the WT cult, she's abusive. It seems impossible to have a true friendship with a fully indoctrinated cultist if they're ultimately going to cut you off if you don't believe their "God" aka 7 leaders or their man made controlling abusive rules.

The difference between a real friendship and a cult friendship is the difference between planting a seed/watering it/exposing it to sunlight/watching it bloom into a flower versus sticking a shiny plastic flower into the grass.

What's really ironic is that, for all the rhetoric about being "separate" from the world, they are - in reality - just as interconnected with it as any other church.

From an outsider's perspective, WTS is very "worldly". Forget churches, it's built like a corporation with it's company men salespeople. Spirituality is fluid, not rigid, it isn't stacked neatly and organized as a corporation is. Spirituality stands on it's own without labels and repetition.

I agree bad association spoil useful habits, such as associating with pedophile ring leaders who abuse and re-abuse little children sexually then cover it up and then you dig your head in the ground. If that isn't the darkest part of the world, I don't know what is.

i am wondering if my deceased elder father was awake?

once we found out he was dying, i spent every moment i could with him, we were very close.

anyway, i offered to read to him a lot when he was resting.

I haven't read the post you mentioned as the very same person you speak of attempted to pull a similar situation in my own experience as well it seems. Not happening. I avoid posts with she/he.

The best way around a bully, don't run as they feed off of that. Just stop giving them your energy. Avoid posts with them.

Edit: It's wonderful all of you are opening up and sharing your thoughts, opinions, agreeing/disagreeing, what you weren't allowed to do within the cult. There is a line however between insulting people as a 13 year old bully would and agreeing to disagree.

Disfellowshipped at a funeral

recently at a funeral for an active jw, death was sudden and tragic.

was surprised that that one of the disfellowshipped children of the deceased was comforted by the jw's at the funeral.

i would say the majority hugged and said a few short words to the disfellowshipped child on the recieving line to comfort the family.

As OneEyedJoe stated, that's what they did to my loved one during a funeral. They lured him in. He went back in a few months later.

grew up in east la in a bad neighborhood to a black mother and white father.

i never knew my father because he died in a car accident when i was a few weeks old.

my mother converted as a jw soon after when two sisters came to her door and offered her comfort, which was something she needed.

Please continue posting here, expressing and letting it all out. I am very sorry for the pain and suffering you've endured. It wasn't your fault.

You're blessed in that you're awake. Embrace your soul and use your gifts, don't let them take away your power any more as they've already have in numerous ways.

An opportunity with an agency may have passed by, but there's more than one agency in the world, and numerous in Los Angeles. There is only one of you and your gifts to share with the world. Get out there and express what your soul craves.

You and your mother have two separate life paths. Don't kill yourself slowly by trying to force yourself into her life path, and don't feel guilty for walking away from her path either. It isn't yours.

Your thoughts on Halloween , yes, no or maybe ?

well its that time again when the ghouls come out to play.

i personally think halloween is a bit irresponsible and inappropriate from a sociological perspective.. there's something about the intent of frightening young impressionable children minds with frightening objests.

and feeding them candy which most likely cause tooth decay and stomachs is irresponsible activity conducted by adults.

Most things are neutral, we add the evilness to it if we choose. We can take an object and add a negative connotation to it from thousands of years ago, or flip it around and make it our own.

Many things are also Pagan.

A parent can always throw their own party with tasty healthier options for candy, and you don't have to scare children. The other option is taking them to children friendly events.
