Are you living out some of your dreams yet?

i have been up watching saturday night fever, made in the year 1977. funny thing i noticed , the club that the tony(john travolta) dances at is called 2001 odessey.

i thought god , i was 10 or 11 when that movie came out.

i wanted to see it so bad, but good jw's would never see such a movie, the disco era right.

You know...I never really had dreams in the org...it was just sort of follow orders, march, march, march....

Once I got out I went crazy (still am really) but that should be a story for the "Vice" thread *LOL*.

I guess my dreams are pretty mundane...I mean I have "if I won the lottery dreams" but how practical are those really. We'd move somewhere warm, spend winters in Jamaica, have cars that actually run all the time, better cigars, more tattoos...more toys...big donation to the annual WTS halloween pumpkin decoration fund !!!

I have a great wife (12 years and counting) an unbelievable 4yo son, secure job in addition to my own small business, a retirement account...I guess I don't need a lot more.

We built our dream house and promptly lost it in a bankruptcy when the economy went sour so now we rent a nice little country house. We'll build again someday...I guess that is one of my dreams.

We're basically happy except that like most people there never seems to be enough money and always seems to be too many work hours.

I guess our biggest dream would be to be financially secure enough to spend more time with our son while he still wants to spend time with us. *LOL* It would also be nice to be able to just do nice things for my wife unexpectedly...she's pretty good for putting up with me and I don't get to show her how much it means very often.

My firm deals mainly with the "Americans with Disabilities Act - ADA". It is a Civil Rights Law actually that prohibits discrimination based on disability. It covers pretty much all serious, permanent mental, emotional and physical disabilities.

I was lucky back in 1990 when the law passed and was one of 150 people pick across the country to be trained as ADA Compliance Consultants by the US Department of Justice and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. So because of this training and our over 12 years of experience we have a pretty good reputation in the field. I just wish the work was steady enough to pay the bills. *LOL*

I understand that Canada, AU and the UK have all either passed or are working on laws that are almost identical to the US version.

Billygoat's Really Bad Joke Thread

i have an 84 year old customer that comes in every week with just a ton of "groaner" type jokes for me.

i am never prepared with any jokes in return, so i'm hoping y'all can assist.

i would like to start this thread with hopes you can post your really bad jokes...clean preferably.

Three couples wish to join the local church and go to speak to the minister..

The minister tells them that he always asks new couples to go home and abstain from sex for 1 month and then return to meet with him.

The first couple, older and retired, returns a month later and when the minister asks how the month went the husband laughs and tells him it was just like any other month and the minister says they are welcome in the church.

The second couple, a middle age couple, returns a month later and when the minister asks how the month went the husband says, "well...the first week was rough but then it got easier", and the minister says they are welcome in the church.

The third couple, newlyweds" return a month later and when the minister asks how the month went the husband says, "well..we were doing okay untill she dropped the paint can."

"The paint can ?" the minister asks.

"yeah", says the husband, " you see she dropped the paint can and bent over in front of me and well...I just couldn't help it so I yanked her pants off and took her right there."

Shocked, the minister gasped and told them that he was sorry but uncontrolled lust was a sin and that they were NOT welcome in the church.

The husband chuckled and said, "Oh yeah ? ...well we're not welcome in Home Depot anymore either".

I can understand that...my parents are both still in the org, and even though they shun me they've never called me an Apostate *L*...

The thoughts I've seen mentioned are directed at the organzation not toward individuals, except those mentioned as possible abuses and the like. I think that the hard part for some of us who desire to take a more active role against thw WTS is that we need to remember that not everyone feels this way. We're just a little "gung-ho" sometimes and it can be frustrating to see SO MANY people who feel harmed by the org in some way or another but then remember that so few who feel that they are able to taking action or that action is even worth it.

I respect your position but hope you can see why a hint of frustration may come across in posts occassionally.

Interesting points..I don't question, nor can i explain (or even want to for that matter) creation.

I do think that the points you mention prove several things...

God is a great engineer

God has a great imagination

God has a pretty good sense of humor

God likes to keep people guessing

God enjoys giving the sceptics something to think about

God must like a good debate

in the case of the ostrich - maybe he really likes wings...you know...a little BBQ sauce...have you seen the size of those things ?

Leaches were used medically for years

As to the bad things in life....for those of us who believe christian teachings - man had the opportunity to live a perfect life in the beginning...in the beginning...hmmm great way to start a book. It was not until man sinned that sickness, pain and disease showed up.

I know that none of these points will answer your questions and to be honest I can't explain it myself and yet, I believe...why ? Faith...simple as that.

The double dog dare at the Kingdom Hall

last night i posted a picture of my watchtower jack o'lantern and lyin eyes double dog dared me to take it to the kingdom hall.

sooo................. after the trick or treating was over, we loaded the kids in the minivan and drove to the kingdom hall.

i put the pumpkin on the railing on the front porch right in front of the main entrance.

*LOL* Now you see this is the sort of JERK think that I'd Do....this sounds like SOOOO much fun. The local hall had a great tree out front....and I know where the external outlet is too !

Stockings, garland, ornaments.....maybe some snowlambs defecating on the front lawn....ok, well maybe that was a little much... *LOL*
