oh! Is this the same magazine that also said in 1969 that 'it is a fact that you will never grow old in this system of things"? LOL

tonights book study in part is about jesus throwing out the merchants and money lenders in the temple... how do they manage to tally that up with asking for funds for all their various projects?
it seems hardly a meeting goes by without some kind of money plea?
don't they realise that they are doing the same thing that jesus got so angry about and threw out of the temple?
The "Draw Close to Jehovah" book? Doesn't reading the Bible make us feel closer to jehober? It does me when I read the OT about the genecide that jehober ordered. when I read about the stoning to death of a wrong doer, when I read how women were regarded and treated in Israel, when I read of how jehober gave the land, cities, orchards and posessions of other to the Israelites, and how the babies were cut out of the bellies of their mothers because jehober said so.
Gives you a warm feeling right?

on oct. 22, eight brothers were released from prison in turkmenistan by presidential amnesty.
(see 2014 yearbook, p. 31) the ninth brother is still imprisoned, but it is hoped that he will be released shortly.
some were already in prison for three or more years and had been severely mistreated.
Any mention about how many hours spent building the new JW. org campus? No doubt hundreds of thousands of hours. Shouldn't those hours hve been used preaching about the kingdom of god instead of building new luxury accomodations for the biggies? If the time is so short why build when you can rent buildings already constructed? The reason is that the end is not near and the gb know it so why not take advantage of the brothers while they can!

feeling low today.
i haven't posted for a long time (forgotten log in details = new username) i'm in a good place with my family now and have built a life outside the religion.. today i found out a good friend has gone back and got himself reinstated to be able to have contact with his elderly mother.
that is the only reason apparently.
If he's a friend, why would you keep him at a distance? Don"t be alike the dubs and have 'conditional' friends. If he's your friend then his religion should not matter. Do the right thing!

i hope i don't come across as judgemental but having read a lot on the current child abuse cases and the different threads on here, i am left wondering why on earth a parent of an abuse victim would go to an elder with the problem first and not straight to police?.
as a parent myself i know that if anything like that happend to my child (this applies to when i was still an active jw as well as now) i would not hesitate in going to the authorities as soon as i found out, it wouldn't of crossed mine or my husbands mind to go to an elder.
maybe after we had reported it but definitely never as the first port of call.
You shouldn't even have to ask that question. "Protect the org.", is first and foremost among dubs. When elders hear about a possible child abuse case, their instructions are to call the Legal Department of the WTBTS first. I've made several of those calls (in the presence of another elder)and one of the first things that we were asked was, "Who knows about this?"

here's a quote from a health care change agent, which i think suits the wts very well.. no matter how innovative or entrepreneurial a firm might have been at its start, once it is has been in existence for some time and has an established place in the social economy, its goal in life is to persist.
it leaves the world of innovation, often loses its purpose, and exists solely to exist, i.e., to cover its costs.
often this is a reflection of the corporate hierarchy, where, sadly, leaders lose their sense of providing true value to their customers, intent instead on aggrandizing their own position and preserving their status.
Just visited my cousin in Brooklyn Bethe construction officel. He's pretty important on the building projects in NYC and New Jersey. He has his own office and all. He was really complaining to me about the recent increase in the number of "overseers" being assigned to oversee each other. He said that it's getting ridiculous how many layers of "overseers" are now appointed. I guess they need to put the old DO's to work. Theocratic bureaucracy at it's finest.

is it ok to spank your kids?
is it ok to discipline them using any force?.
.
My mom use to spank, beat, whip us kids because that was the way to rear children according to the Bible, or at least the JW interpretation of the Bible. There was never a mention of spanking being wrong among the dubs that I recall. So, I believe that the WTBTS is ok with whipping children. Also, the Bible encourages (in fact jehober commands) stoning wrong doers to death. Shouldn't the WTBTS be ok with that practice today? Seems a little barbaric but if it's in the Bible, JW's should be ok with it-right?

i am a proud mother.
my daughter's school had a blood drive and she is of age to donate.
she wanted to last year but was too young.
Good deal. JW's won't admit it but many/most of them 'give' blood on a regular basis or at least have given blood at some time in their life. My wife, for example 'donates' several viles of blood each month so the medical experts, her doctors, can monitor her health. The blood that she 'donates' is not used for sacrifice nor is it "poured out on the ground". Her blood is used to monitor her health and therefore prolong her life. How many of the GB have blood drawn and sent to a lab for analysis for health reasons? Aren't they, the GB, violating the 'blood policy' by their having blood used for a purpose other than 'sacrifice' or being "poured out on the ground"? Sure as sh@#$t they are.
When I get together with 'super' witnesses and the subject of blood comes up, I really love to mention how I 'donated' blood (just for the shock value). When they ask "How could you do that?", I tell them that they also have also probably 'donated' blood, to which they look at me as if I'm crazy. Then I drop it on them, " Have youever had your blood drawn at a doctor's office, a clinic, or a lab?"--Then you donated blood! No getting around it, JW's donate blood for life saving purposes.

jw's are such a happy group .
let's see how this talk addresses the internal issues that we find within the jw's such as:.
courtesy of jwfacts.com.
So starting with jehobers own family, why wasn't it perfect and happy? How can jehober expect imperfect men to have perfect, happy families when he doesn't? Or is a this a classic case of; "do as I say , not as I do"?
From the very beginning of the bible, there have been absolutely no perfect, happy families. In fact the opposite is true. Even so called divinely blessed men had families that were pretty messed up. These special talks, of which I have given 5 during my elder years, are so empty and lame. The only thing "special" about thes talks is that they are labeled "special".

authors david chilton (1987) and james stuart russell (1878) propose that the revelation is primarily a prophecy of the destruction of ancient jerusalem by the roman armies.
the revelation is jerusalem's armageddon (mountain of assembled roman troops).
i see the revelation as a war siren warning the first century christians of the imminent destruction of the city.
BABYLON THE GRAPE!
