Harry Potter Versus The Watchtower.
by SpannerintheWorks indoes anybody have any wbts literature references that criticize, condemn or warn against harry potter books and films?.
you see, my wife and family (jw) "love" harry potter, and so it would be great to be able to show them how absurd the watchtower society is for condemning harry potter, if indeed it does.
i am assuming the wbts would disapprove of such demonic witchcraft and the like that is contained in the harry potter publications!.

The Ring-very scary.
The Others-very cool.
Anything that hints about life after the death of our bodies- very cool.

Orthodox Jews and homosexuality
by scotsman inas larc's thread has mutated into the tired old nurture vs nature debate i thought i'd give a response to his question, which was how do you reconcile the bibles attittude to homosexuality and the living breathing reality of human beings.
i was at a recent screening of trembling before g-d, a documentary on homosexuals in the orthodox community who want to be practising homosexuals and still be accepted as part of the orthodox faith.
(my opinion is that they're wanting to have their cake and eat it but i was interested in the reasoning).

Also. Homophobic means having an overpowering or irrational fear of man. Wild animals are homophobic. A bashful gay man is a homophobe, not an outspoken straight one.
Oh really? And what would you call an outspoken gay man vs a bashful straight one?
WTF?

n.- Fear of or contempt for lesbians and gay men.
- Behavior based on such a feeling.
People who FEAR and HATE things they do not understand are the cause of much of the world's problems throughout history. 9/11 is perfect example of this type of intolerance for each others differences. Education, understanding, and at a minimum, tolerance are the keys to the society we ought to have as supposedly the most intelligent form of live on earth.

Any takers?
by Jessica Rabbit ini have been doing some research on freemasonry and the pyramids lately.
does anyone know if the purple triangles on the shirts of the jw holocaust victims had anything to do with the pyramids; and who decided to put that particular patch on that group of people?
i know that the "star of david" is another symbol used in freemasonry as well as the "watchtower" symbol.

The Age of Miracles .. continues
by metatron inthe ladies home journal - june 2003 has an article on spinal paralysis that offers the hopeful view that a cure is no longer.
a matter of if - but a matter of when - with some optimists looking 5 to 10 years for solid progress.. pg 124 [note: unlike the watchtower society with its 'quotes out of nowhere', i will try to tell you where these things.
can be found].

by Englishman in.
some of us left simply because we didn't believe it any more.. some us couldn't stand the hypocrisy.. some of us left so's to have more sex.
some of us saw another light shining brighter.. some of us wanted more material possessions.. some of us needed more control over others than the borg would allow.. what do you think?.

I left because they gave me no choice. They wanted to me to be something I wasn't: IE: heterosexual
Now I have many more reasons to add to that- at the top of which is that THERE IS NO TRUE RELIGION!!!
