What Is The Stupidest Rule You've Encountered As a Witness?
by minimus inone rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??

"Hey everybody, I don't know if this has been talked about before, but here is an amazing case that is documented and took place in the seventies. Is it a spirit? Is it our mind? In my opinion regardless of that answer, this does show proof of a spirit realm. Whether it be demons or mind over matter, or dead loved ones, who knows? But something is going on. Unless of course this was a hoax, but it was filmed and there is countless sites and research on this. O.k. Enjoy and let me get your thoughts. Thanks."
It was filmed, it was documented? I thought it said in this article that they thought they heard a whisper but there was nothing on the tape. I thought they said it was filmed yet when the table levitated the room was too dark so they couldn't film it. Doesn't sound like scientific documentation to me.

Advice please
by Satans little helper ini've got a situation which has meant that soon i will be in close proximity to someone i really don't want to bump into without being primed and having thought out some sensible responses.
i don't want to be in a situation where the only response i have is to blow my stack and punch the guy out.. this guy is an elder, reasonably well switched on and a lifer.
he's also an inflexible sob who is certain of his own righteousness.

I agree with the response that it's a personal relationship that everyone has between them and God and then tell him that you think it's pretty presumtuous of him to think he needs to act as an intermediary between you and God when he is just as sinful as everyone else. Point out to him in the Bible when people would enter the holy of holies and burn their own incense when, at the time, the priests were required to be intermediaries, how God struck them dead for daring to be so presumtuous. Then remind him that we are not under Mosaic Law anymore and to step in between you and your God is VERY presumtuous and that you don't appreciate it.

What is heaven like?
by greatteacher inwhen i was a jehovah's witness i believed only 144,000 people were going to heaven, so i am curious about what others feel about heaven.
this question is for those who believe in heaven.

Why not try to ask a blind person what a tree looks like or a deaf person what classical music sounds like? There is no reference to define something we haven't experienced personally and even if one of us did there would be no way to explain it to those that haven't.

SaintSatan, I have to agree that it affects artists more because they are more sensitive and creative. I'm an artist and was more productive as one when I was a JW. I didn't care what they said to me, if I wanted to draw or paint then I would. I don't get told what I can and can't do in my house. I got into drawing women either just their faces or their whole bodies...from life. One was nude the others were not but were scantily dressed. One of the elders wanted to see some of my work so I proudly showed him. He just about spit out his drink when he got to the drawings of the women but he didn't say anything to me about it. I was waiting for it too. But yes, they like to stiffle creativity as much as possible. Most of the elders are some of the most boring people I have ever seen. I had one elder invite me to his house for an evening with his family. I thought that would be cool until I got there and they wanted to play dominos. And they were having the thrilling time playing it and I was just thinking, 'You guys need to get out of the house more.'

Internal conflict ? A JW is always "sick" and misses meetings. Doubting?
by somebodylovesme inthe person in question is my husband's mother who is a jw.
she is in her late 40s... has been a devout dub for 20 years or so, and has never to my knowledge had any spiritual "problems".
she exhibits every characteristic that the typical rank-and-file should have.

US policy of legitimatizing paranoia
by jst2laws in(january 9, 2004) .
on friday, the united states government lowered the national threat level from an high to elevated risk of terrorist attack -- or as more commonly known, from a orange code to yellow code.

On MSN's website they have news blurbs and on the same page there were these two blurbs:
Terror threat level raised but people don't seem to be taking it seriously enough.
and
Although threat level raised people urged to go about their lives like normal. So what the hell do they want from us? Do they want us to walk around acting paranoid looking over our shoulders or do they want us to go about our lives like normal?

I remember on Comedy Central's The Daily Show when they first came out with that bullshit color coded terror threat. Steven Colbert was standing in front of a traffic light and when it was green he was saying that we can all relax now. The country is in no danger any more. Then the light turned yellow and he said, "Uh John. There's been a change! We are now at amber alert status John! We could possibly be under....OH MY GOD! We are now at RED ALERT STATUS JOHN! We are under attack again! Take to the shelters everyone! This is the end.....oh....wait....now we're back down to green alert status. I guess we're ok again." It was hillarious and yet it made a good point...the color code system is stupid as hell.

Spread your story around your congregation. If they want to be lying bastards let them feel the sting of a damaged name in the congregation. Start raising your hand when those elders are giving a talk (one that requires audience participation) and try to squeeze in answers that talk about the importance of being truthful and the consequences of lying. And do it all with a shiteating grin on your face.

Just do what I do when friends pull this crap on you: When THEY have something important going on in their lives and want to invite you to it just give them a lame excuse. And I mean a REALLY LAME excuse. Tell them that you have to fill up your car's gass tank and generally don't like to drive it until the car has gotten used to having all that gas in it.
Or that you are planning on going to the store that day and that usually wipes you out.
Or tell them that you have to write a letter.Something really stupid. I had a friend that was like that too but his problem was that he was just too lazy to get off the couch. I worked less than a mile down the road from his place and I left my wallet there and I needed it for my lunch so I called him and asked him if he could bring it to me while I was at work. He was like, "Oh geez, I don't know if I can do that. I was going to just make some tea and then I was going to start writing a letter..."
I cut him off and said, "Do you think you could hold off on that for possibly 5 minutes while you do this one simple thing for me?"
"Well I also have to take a shower too and then I have...."
"NEVERMIND! USELESS! **CLICK**"
