Do you talk baby talk to your pets?
by Maverick ini had this big macho guy who used to work for me and when i would stop by his trailer, (not kidding) to pick him up for work, (dui and again, not kidding) on his way out the door he would give his redhead, stripper girl friend, (see above) a peck on the cheek and walk over to his pit-bull, ( ) and just lavish all manner of love and affection on that big, ugly, and very stupid dog!
i am not making this up!
i would think, "what a looser!".

I have two cats, they are the sweetest things! They will walk right over to anyone who comes over the house and want to check that person out and be petted! Both my daughter and I play with them and talk all manner of stupidness to them! I am such a hypocrite! Maybe I'll get extra points on that "going to Hell" test?
Now my question, do you talk baby talk to your pets? And ladies...it's always about the ladies.....how would or have you felt about some guy your seeing if you notice him talking sweet to his pets the first time you go by his place? Mav

It does make you wonder. Just finished reading my daughters college philosophy text book and something Karl Popper said really stuck in my mind. Mankind does not have accurate knowledge. We get closer and closer as time goes on. But we do know what does not work, and that is where we should focus. Fix the worst, more glaring problems in society, work from the bottom up. This has been the story of civilization. We had fixed those most basic problems and advanced upward. We may not know what the best most right ways are. We do know what the most pressing problems are.
With so much conflict and disunity in the spiritual, and with no two people agreeing on all the possible facets of that realm, chances are we are all wrong and everyone who has ever lived has been wrong. For people to beat each other over doctrine is ludicrous! Mav

Why my view of the witnesses changed
by nevergotwet inas i explained in my first thread i left when i was 18, but first started doubting at the age of 11, after a specific incident.
i'd like to tell that story now.
sorry if it seems long-winded, but i've only just been dealing with this one, and i've been carrying it round for 20 years.

In line with what Farkel pointed out, if the JW's where in the Olympics, they would get all the gold metals for mental gymnastics! Mav

Passive-aggressive
by onacruse ina sometimes too characteristic aspect of our human behavior.
in some ways, it seems like the db environment fosters (even promotes) such "liberty.
why do we (and i include myself) let ourselves devolve to what is imho the lowest common denominator?

Aluminum, makes a nice "ping" when in hits just right!
I wasn't referring to me being PA, but a lot of the Dubs using this. My ex would pull this all the time on me. "Oh! did I do that wrong again! Silly me!" Mav

I hated this aspect of the WTS. Joe publisher does some rotten, bone-head thing to you, you call him on it, he asks you to forgive him ...you have no choice...you may KNOW the turd did it to tick you off but you have to forgive the dweeb. Next week he does something similar again. I'm sooo sorry, but you have to forgive me or you are unloving!
I thought about this when this elders son, (MS) screwed his best buddies, (MS) wife, (elders daughter). The dope forgave him and pleaded for him not to be DF'd. Which he was not and this was the third time he was catch committing adultery, his own wife divorced him over it. If he had screwed my wife, I would have taken a baseball bat to the SOB, took out his knees, then broke all the small bones in his body uncluding his facial bones, (he's a pretty boy). Then when I got out of jail I'd have asked him to forgive me cause I lost my mind! He would just have to! He would think real hard the next time he wanted another mans wife. Mav
