Boy, you hit this one dead on. I was in a bad accident, after I recovered I started a series of operations. (I'm like the 6 million dollar man, they rebuild me better than before.) Over a dozen procedures in the next couple of years. I was an MS at the time and told two Elders that I was going in for surgery, they both changed the subject! I disappeared for six weeks and not one of the Brothers called or came by! I moved to a new Hall after that. That bunch was no better. The reason? The letter that was sent from the old Hall stating my lack of appreciation for meeting attendance! Took six months to be an MS there. What a bunch of fakes! Maverick

Being "Smart" will not prevent one from following the WTS
by onacruse inthis weekend, while katie and i were at the beach, we both spent a little time reading coc (no, it wasn't a study lol ...i can honestly say that i did not favor the disfellowshipping decision made by the [governing] body.
for when the vote came i conformed to the majority decision.
i felt dismayed when the body assigned me to prepare mateiral in support of the decision, yet i accepted the assignment and wrote it as was desired by the body...my belief in the organization as god's only agency on earth caused me to do what i did at that time without particularly great qualms of conscience.. .

I agree with this concept that intellegence is not a big factor in being enslaved by the J-dud Masters.

Mark Twain was once asked about his book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Seems even in his day there was a problem with letting in be a part of the school library. He replied that the book was not written for young minds. He stated that a youths mind, once sullied, could never be clean again. Then he said that they should not let the young read the Bible for it was filled with vile, bloodied, and cruel acts stated with great detail. Maverick

I have an eighteen year old daughter, who I enrolled in college yesterday. And based on the kinds of guys I see coming around, she will steam-roll right over them in the coming years. I blame it on the lack of good stable male role models. When I went to her school open houses, (all of them from pre-k to her senior year), only five of six other parents were ever there, and they were parents of her girlfriends. The fathers of these boys needed to set the example. They have failed miserably.
Even with the J-duds, the lack of good male role models is shameful! The J-dud Masters turn them into hairless, whimps pretending to be in charge. The Elders wives rule their husbands in most cases. Many of these men use their wives to help them do their administrative work. Even though they are told not to. The men are in contact with their superiors above them in the food chain, but the wives are in contact with the locals the next step down. And these men defer to their wives advise on the social scene.
The boys today lack a solid foundation to build self-respect. I have a friend who's daughters boyfriend lives at her home. He is 30 years old and can not understand why I have no respect for him. And his father has no problem and sees no shame in his grown son living at his girlfriends mothers house. They are clueless! Maverick

Brother (elder) Sister (pioneer) hid my leaving should they be punished
by run dont walk ini left the borg after a 5 year struggle at home.
the best way for me to leave was to move across the country from east to west, (still wasn't far enough), i was unemployed at the time and had no real opportunities, so my girlfriend at the time (not a jo-ho)(who my family never met) and i headed out west.
now, i returned home about 3 years later when my dad past away, and at the funeral, people were coming up to me asking me how the west was and how was my new congregation, can you believe this.

You seem to had a lot of anger toward your family. And that may be justified. But rather that trying to hurt them with only a limited possibility of any success, why not help them get out of that mess. You can talk to them and maybe influence them in a subtle way. Take your time and formulate a plan. If is fails you can always go back to your original concept. Time is on your side, take advantage of it. Maverick

What works for me?
by Anne ini remembered something that was in my consiousness from back in the day.
i went to the door of a very nice home and was greeted by a nice person.
i presented the usual rehearsed salespitch and she said the oddest thing, "i tried jehovah's witness once, it just didn't work for me.

First I want to say that I hope it goes well with you Anne. In my own case the thing that attracted me to the J-duds in the first place was the very thing that repelled me in the end. As a single, young, idealist male, I thought, "here is a group that is living by what they teach." After going the whole route with the Duds, even marrying a 'truth-baby' raising a child on the inside, and being a member of the Servant Body for 16 years, I saw the whole picture. They were not living by what they teach. My experience told me, the more successful a Dud is the less they really believe the crap they're selling to others. Maverick

IMPRISONED IDEAS
by Blueblades in.
there are many classifications into which men and women may be divided--as upper, middle or lower class;rich,well- to- do and poor;religious ,skeptical and theist;conservative, liberal, labor, catholic, protestant, master and man; and so forth and so on,ad infinitum.. but,as i think, the only categorization which really matters is that which divides men as between servants of the spirit and slaves of the organization.that classifciation which cuts across all other classifications,is indeed the fundamental one.. the idea, the inspiration, originates in the internal world, the world of the spirit.but ,just as the human spirit must incarnate in a body,so must the idea incarnate in an organization.. whether the organization be political, religious,or social is immaterial to my present argument.the point is that, the idea having embodied itself in an organization, the organization then proceeds gradually to slay the idea which gave it birth.. this was written by w.p.brown,mp.a member of the british parliament,he outlines the dangers of becoming a slave of institutions or organizations.its a long article,i will post more later.

I remember a college teacher stating that there are always at lest two kinds of people, followers and leaders, and it was just the degree of ability in those roles that made up the social levels. Maverick

New experience for me..advice, anyone?
by zanex ini have been out of touch with pretty much all of the old jw's that i used to hang around with while in new mexico.
i have been informed that one of those jw's that oddly enough happens to be related to my roommate that i am currently living with is coming to town and i have also been told that he is trying to leave the org and doesnt want to be any part of it anymore but he still has a lot of family in the religion...another twist anyone?
oh yeah he also is "coming out" he is gay.

Tough spot to get put in Zanex. If he has access to computers you could mention in passing this site and others like it. Also reading about the org. via Ray Franz, even adding a disclaimer stating you have heard of these things but have no first hand knowledge. Freedomrules is right, let him do all the talking. If he is still close to Dud-land his brain will still be soft and he will take suggestions without any resistance. Maverick
