  Sexual Harassment

  i thought i'd pose a question especially (but not exclusively) for the girls regarding sexual harassment.

  what would you deem as unfitting behaviour?.

  is it appropriate for a guy to ask if you are wearing any panties?

  It is never appropriate to ask any woman other than your mate what undergarments she is wearing!

  I was at Home Depot and saw a young man hugging and fondling the cashier who was checking my purchase. I told him to their faces I did not appreciate his conduct. They both laughed at me. I turned around and went to the Store Manager and told him what happened. I explained that it did not matter if she was consenting, it was inproper behavior in a work setting and a time bomb waiting to explode! If she ever got mad at the place she could file a lawsuit, and as open as this young man was the store would lose, big time! The Store Manager did not pay much attention to me until I told him he should be grateful than the lady was not my daughter because I would not have gone to him, but straight to my lawyer! His facial expression changed and he said he would take care of the matter. The next time I went in the store the young man was moved to stocking shelves and kept away from the cashiers. Had nothing changed I would have called the corporate office! Pissed me off!

  Congregation gossip - Why so rampant?

  is is just me, or did every congregation have a big (as in greater than in the non jw world) problem with this?

  how have some been affected?

  It is not a question of being rampant as a fact that gossip was and is a very important mechanism of the WTS. As much as the official policy claimed to be against gossip it is a very valuable tool to punish and undermine individuals within the collective. Whenever the JW Masters want to smear someone they use this well established form of communication. Ray Franz is a great example of the effective use of gossip.

  Love Isn't Enough

  i am 19 years old and my best friend was a male jehovah's witness member.he was and continues to be deeply influenced by his parents and fellow religion members.we fell in love and secretly maintained a relationship for well beyond a year until the day came where people found out and he could not deny it.

  due to much suffering we were seperated because of these people that didnt want us together.

  i ended up having to leave the country because it was too hard for me and we havent spoken since.

  Sirona has given you good counsel. This is a tactic of JW's to extort you to join them. There would be no end to the unloving, selfish manipulations the followers of that cult would stoop to in the pursuit of guilting you into their fold. They claim they are all about love, but in fact they are all about guilt, shame, fear and hate wrapped up in a sack of selfishness that is the true mark of the WTS.

  Depression in the congregation

  The last three years I went to the Hall I would leave feeling worse than when I went in. It got to the point that the very thought of going would bring on feelings of depression. Anyone who feels that way should really think about what they are doing to themselves. Six months after I stopped going, and with the help of many here, my depressed feelings when away.

  I can see why the WTS want to pump this drivel into the Dubs heads again. Their claim to understand when the End-Times would occur is fundamental to show they alone have Gods backing. They base this suppossed understanding on the book of Daniel. Without the formula of year for a day and their claim of 607BCE they have nothing. Even though that date has been proved wrong, and their use of a year for a day has zero validation, if they speak fiction with conviction long enough them they need to fool stay stupid! Mav

  saved?".

  of course, it trots out the usual formula of half truths that has brought the watchtower.

  The WTS is very good at presuppositions. "Can Planet Earth be Saved?", presupposes that the Earth is not in a safe state, that it is understood that the Earth is well on its way to ruin. They do this a lot! One needs to question their very questions and assumptions to qualify whether those questions are even worth answering (valid). Mav

  ending a "bible" study concerns

  first off i'd like to say what a pleasure it is to read the threads here and to say as well that it's quite refreshing to see the milk of human kindnes shared so freely here.. i just moved back east and have been staying with my 82 year old mom who's been a jw for 35 years (she's happy as a clam).

  knowing she'd appreicate the company going to the sunday meetings plus the 2 hour "school" i thought i could also form my own opinion on their "truth" ...so i did't research the "apostate web sites" till i had formed my own opinion...well 6 months (read) 125 hours at the kingdom hall later and my heart tells me that this "truth" is not for me.. the problem:.

  i'd like to quit the "bible" study that sucks up 1 1\2 hours each week...but i'm wondering if "the gang" is going to put any pressure on my dear old mom (again she's 82 years old) to get me to resume my bible study ?

  Welcome!

  It is very thoughtful of you to show concern for your Mom. You have her best interests at heart. The Nit-Witnesses at large think they are saving you so they would have no problem causing you all manner of problems with your mother if it came to that.

  You could cut short your studies, and slowly start to miss them. Find yourself busy when they want to "socialize" with you. I would write poems, write "to do" lists, anything at the Hall to tune out the drivel after a while. You know your setting, so only you know how far you can push things.

  If the brothers corner you, you can confide in them that you know it's BS but don't want to cause trouble for your Mom and would take a very dim view of them if they started to get stupid with you. You might tell them that you respect your Moms beliefs and will do nothing to turn her away but you want them to quietly back off! Mav

  Uh oh, we got caught

  we are so busted.

  i learned tonight, from my source, that someon saw our christmas tree and reported it to the elders.. rats, our days of anonymity are likely almost over.

  starting tuesday, the local congregation has the circuit and the district overseer, before their ca next weekend.

  Don't be too surprised if they do NOTHING. At a lot of Halls they are, "letting sleeping dogs lie". There is so much fall out...or "away" I should say, that the J-Dub Masters are trying to play it down. Elders power and authority is illusion, and as with all illusions it must be used in the right setting and under limited controlled conditions. Do not waste a lot of emotional energy on this matter until these regects from a Mel Brooks movie come knocking. I don't think they will, unless you push them. Mav

  Pagan Hoildays

  just told my jw dad( who only talks about witness stuff ) we will be finishing decorating our christmas tree tonight.

  he then started with the old so & so said blah blah blah about christmas being pagan.

  i cut him right off and said"i know what they say but for us it's about family".

  Enjoy yourself and don't let that old guilt laden crap damped your fun. The WTS tries to pick and choose what God hates. What about the names of the Months, days of the week and hundreds of other things that have origins beyond their comfort zone? The turth is the WTS pick events that will do the most damage toward creating a riff with those who might influence a person out of the WTS mind control. That is the bottom line. All the rest is BS!
