Actually you have to discount a large part of the New Testament to deny it. Jesus was MERE? That takes a LOT of scripture-denying.

If that is true about the holy spirit actually being jesus than how can people be filled with it ?

Most times that I've seen drawings and such that depict the trinity they usually show a 3 faced deity not a one faced.

Most times when I see a JW depiction of Jehober his face is blank. WHAT A FREAK!!!!! Pardon me, I cant help it if some people must paint odd pictures. I think the JWs need a taste of their own medicine in which we use all their Jehobistic depictions against them. Oh, and Jehober is no more a nonsense word that Jeehovaw.

The way I see it is that jesus was granted all authority over heaven and earth from higher up due to his obedience in proving satan a liar.

I think peopel get confused due to the baptismal ceremony that includes the father son and holy spirit.

There are other scriptures that make it confusing such as when jesus said he that has seen me has also seen the father.

The belief in a trinity was actually started by pagan culture.

The belief in God's Son coming to earth was also "started" by pagan culture. The belief that the Supreme God cast other gods into Tartarus was also "started" by pagan culture. The belief that the world is going to come to an end was also "started" by pagan culture.

And while I would agree that the Son is NOT the Father or vice versa according to Trinitarian teaching, isn't that one in essence but not in personhood stuff rather difficult to comprehend?

I can honestly say I understand it just fine because the bible is very informative. The Unity of the Father the Son and the HS is very simple and easy to understand. The Trinity is not God. The Trinity is a concept that explains the unity of the Father the Son and the HS.

No he wasn't. He was a Man praying to His God and a Son who was praying to his Father. He was not praying to himself unless you are saying he is the Father. It is only a problem for the Oneness crowd.

Replace "The Father" with YHVH. I know you understand but just for the sake clarity.

Heck, if every JW in the world lived here, He would wipe out the entire earth, and when he turned his attention, to Los Angles conuty, he would only have to kill 1/2 of all the people.

It is silly because not everyone dies at Armageddon as the WTS wants you to believe.

my sisters and mother are jehovah's witnesses and have been as long as i can remember.

i however, chose to follow a different path.

they don't even have 1 million publishers in the US.

I suspect about 85-90% of publishers are baptized and the number of publishers tends to fluctuate between 890,000 to 950,000 in the US although I think they have peaked above 1 million in the mid 90s before the Net got big.

I would venture a guess at about 820,000 baptized in the US.

for the past few years the questions from readers in the wt have been pathetic rehashes of old material, or just stupid newbie quetions answered in the pe book.

i know that they must be getting thouands of well thought out questions from sincere readers, yet none of these questions make the column.

i know that this is not surprising to many here.

Is JW just another denomination?

hello :) i suppose this is my introduction to the forum, though i am not sure if i will actually post and read much here.

i did go through several posts, and didn't find anything helpful, though i did find many posts interesting... anyway, i am not a jehovahs witness.

i hope this doesn't immediatly diqualify me from posting this question here... but basically, i was wondering just what is jw?

I used to entertain that idea myself. Upon further study I disagree. I don't think that the demons knew of the Trinity. I still have yet to see a real example of a trinity in pagan antiquity. It is that lack of a trinity in pagan religions that leads me to believe the trinity was unknown by the demons.

It seems the most touted example is Osirus, Isis, Horus of Egyptian mythology.

To me it really isn't a trinity for several reasons. First of all Horus the Son in the equation was created by Isis the Mother. Not only that, Osiris, the Father in the equation dies. Horus became the Chief God known as Ra in certain areas, pronounced like Ray. There may be dipictions of this Triad similar to sculptural dipictions of the Christian Trinity but that is the extent to the similarity. It was not a trinity, it was a panthoen that bore far more resemblence to the Greek pantheon.

If one wanted to attack Christianity looking for Pagan similarities one needed to look no further than Greek mythology. Very similar situations happens all over the place. Hercules, the Son of Zeus being a superhuman mortal, the Son of God in the flesh. The Titans were cast into tartarus at the order of Zeus, the very same thing Paul describes of the demons.

The twist in this epoch is that Zeus, Apollo, Hercules are the Olypians. They rebelled and overthrew the Titans. These are none other than Satan and his demons. Greek mythology is pure satanism. It bears similarities to Judeo-Christianity in other areas as well but you notice the interesting twists. Seeing how the demons have worked in that mythology but failed to incorporate the trinity is why I conclude they knew nothing of it.

Now I will say that by now the demons are fully aware of the trinity which may be one reason for as you mentioned the unholy "trinity" in revelation. Of course the demons are incapable of a real trinity and it isn't really a trinity but it does make a decent attempt at a counterfeit which rules the world.

Sex in the New Book "Learn from the Great Teacher"

i just obtained a copy of one of the new releases from the summer jw district conventions, learn from the great teacher.

this book is oriented towards children, and frankly, is a stereotypical piece of propaganda from the "faithful and discreet slave".

in some ways the book is incredibly revealing, since it has to break down a number of ridiculous jw teachings into a form that even jw children can swallow, and when those teachings are put into simplest form their ridiculousness is evident to everyone but small children and stereotypically braindead jws.

I heard experts commenting on the Westerfield trial that pedophiles use xxx depictions of popular cartoons to ease children into their molestations. I notice the article said when "boys and girls play..." not men and boys or men and girls? hmm..... ya never know.

I know a little about SDA. Adventism as a whole I don't know so much about. I consider the WTS to be a part of Adventism.

I have read some of the earlier SDA writings but due to such factors as the coverup of such writings, the fewer aberrations, the lack of SDA in my family, and the lower growth rate I prefer to focus my efforts on the WTS. Mormonism is a close second.

When dealing with SDAs I tend to run into a brick wall because to them worshipping on any day but saturn's-day is satanic. That seems to be the defense mechanism that equals the WTS's you-all-go-to-war mechanism. The total insanity and lack of scripture relating to their defense mechanism makes it much more difficult to respond to convince them and they don't move past that bump in the road.

I find that most cults have some crazy unique defense mechanism that is, in the end, unbiblical, but somehow so ingrained into their mentality that no matter how much you do to expose the error, the complexity of it in their mind makes any progress in addressing it, impossible.

With the Christadelphians it is the Christian's idea of evil spirits that is their defense mechanism. With Mormons it seems to be the intangible grandeur of their organization and how great it is to be a part of it. With Catholics it is "dogmatic law" that they think is biblical.

I don't really know how modern SDAs view EG White and since their is so much information readily available on her already I don't know what contribution I could realistically make.

I have heard audio on her insane idea's which were entertaining but in the end not all that surprising. The sheer volume of insane ramblings of EGW bores me in about 20 minutes because nothing surprises me after about 2.
