  i was raised a j.w.

  for 20+ years and slid out of the back door in 1998(no-one noticed me slide) and when i went out into the big bad world i found i was completely naive and clueless as i had lived in a tiny shell all my life, for example i had never met a gay person and i believed every non member was evil and out to get me.. has anyone any similar experiences?how did you get the past out of your mind and move on?

  do you still feel disadvantaged or do you think you benefited in any way?.

  You're defiantely not alone. There's thousands of us out there who have gone though so many new realizations after leaving the little village of the watchtower. And when we realize the time that was lost, the opportunities, the love that we missed, it can sometimes seem overbearing. But you're not alone in that. And though there may be no true silver lining ot the cloud, I have found, that I have lived far more vibrantly then if I had lived a mundane life of not-knowing. We've already done our shift in purgatory and came back to tell the tell. Freedom and our own aspirations will always be treasured more by us, this way.

  the recent superstition thread got me to thinking.

  growing up i was terrified of "demons".

  sometimes when we would have witness gatherings they would start in to "demon" stories.

  What is the current teaching on resurrection of a Jehovah's Witness.

  what is the current teaching on resurrection of a jehovah's witness.

  if they are active when they die will they be resurrected?do they have to meet so many hours, so many books placed?.

  the reason for this question is that my jw friend just had a very close jw friend of theirs die.

  something to the effect of nothing you can do as a witness will guarantee you survive armageddon and make it into the "new system" but it helps.

  Update: The meeting with my mom....

  just an update for those of you who read about my decision to send my mother a letter.. my mom received my letter yesterday and then today she met me for lunch.

  all through lunch she didn't mention anything that would be considered witnessing.

  i was shocked.

  your posts are BRUTAL.

  Go shout at the wind. You don't know me, and I certainly don't know you. I don't think any of my posts have been "brutal". I sometimes see things from another perspective. I may not be compassionate. I'd like to be, but I don't bandy the term about loosely, compassion is hard, and can take many rebirths to achieve. I do try to be empathetic. Not pathetic.

  Hopefully some lurker JW with children will read this thread, yes this very post, and realize that if he or she uses adherance to a stupid JW by-law they don't even understand, and deprives their child of the medical care they require to live, then they are nothing but a murderer. No amount of compassion for the murderer will change that simple fact. So don't sign those parental forms, keep your children alive until they can make up their own minds.Remember that doctors and hospitals will follow a don't ask don't tell policy if you want them to, and you can keep your kids alive and remain in the cult that wants you to sacrifice your children.

  Two catch phrases: Perception is reality. The mind is a powerful thing.

  Shamanistic cultures believed readilly in evil and good spirits, just as many 20th century persons believed in UFO abductions. When you wave in something completely, you will. Aversion is the flip side of that attraction, and it comes unbidden but is part of a package deal. JWs will suffer from demon attacks as long as they know angels and the like to exist and believe them to have a strong effect on their persons.

  there is no way you could assess not should you condemn a person for giving in to pressure that you are tolf comes from Goid Himself..

  Im having some trouble parsing that, but no I don't condemn anyone.

  Gita - harsh? ya, you are being harsh. You have a valid point to make, but you don't need to make with such self-righteous fervor.

  I'm about the least fervid person you will ever want to meet, actually. I just feel sorry for dead babies who had fervid self-righteous parents that can feel like victims themselves, later.
