did ANYONE read my previous post?? - john edwards ADMITTEDLY uses information obtained from third parties in the preparation of his show.
i owned and ran a new age bookstore for 8 l/2 years (have spoken about this on other threads). i met many many psychics and worked with them running psychic fairs. i worked with some of the most "respected" and popular psychics. i had dozens and dozens, if not hundreds, of psychic readings.
what it is all about is (once again) the good old mighty dollar. they may have some concern about the people that come to them for advice, but what they are most concerned with is lining their pockets. truly. i saw it over and over and over, how the psychics would find their prey and milk them for all it was worth.
i went into the field with an open mind, i left it in disgust, feeling very guilty that i had had any part in it.
as exjws hopefully you have learned to question. question EVERYTHING!!

you move to another town - like, lets say that they call on you every 2 months, and they have no idea who you are, like me.
i am sure that there are some of you out there...... what do you say to them when they come to the door????

my responses to jws at the door have evolved over the 27 years i have been away.
at first i tried to pretend i was nh. would avoid any contact.
then one day i opened the door to an old man and a young boy. the old man started yelling at me when i told him i was a former jw, saying that i KNEW it was the truth.....
i have moved since then -- a young man and a boy knocked just as i was going past screen door - they started....i told them i was VERY familiar with their teachings and was not interested.....
business brought me into contact with the son of someone i used to know -- i saw his name on his business card, saw the resemblance, asked if he was related to.... he was surprised, asked how i knew his father. i told him i was xjw. he was shocked, he asked, but what about the "truth"?? i told him i just did not believe it anymore -- at that time i had just finished reading "the orwellian world of jehovah's witnesses". asked him if he wanted the old copies of studies in the scriptures that were collecting dust in the basement and yes he took them.
now i would welcome the opportunity to speak to them. not sure exactly what i would say, but i would certainly try to engage them.

it says he relies on third parties to obtain his information.
i think we all share an obligation to help "newbies" and "lurkers" on this forum.one way i try to help is by asking questions that they might be more inclined to think about while in their position.
do you post here with these new ones and lurkers in mind or do you primarily post to share association with friends that you already have?

in the aftermath of 9ll i was in a lot of trouble, very disturbed....i remember getting my husband (never a jw mind you) to help me find an exjw site (since at that time i was totally computer illiterate). we did manage to stumble upon one and what i saw so turned me off that i did not try again for more than a year. there was profanity and bitterness and vitriol. -- i could not now tell you what site that was --. well THAT wasn't what i needed to see.
i discovered something different when i found this site. there does seem to be a genuine concern and caring, and an eagerness to help, a desire to soothe some of the unbelievable experiences some have had to endure. so i have been taking the comfort and validation and love that seems appropriate for me, and in turn try to share the same with others.
i wonder how many here, when put to the test "proved" their loyalty to the organization.

we just finished our anniversary dinner(it was wednesday but we waited till week end...) and i have to say--i outdid myself this year!.
now last year we had our church wedding for our 5th anniversary and we had cajun fried turkey and jambalaya and a wonderful catawba/peach manischevitz wine punch(with gingerale) with peaches and melon floating in the bowl....(very pretty coral colored punch).
we had a red-velvet/almond flavored wedding cake and the groom's cake was deep chocolate with mocha icing... followed at midnight by a shot of henry mckenna or irish mist..... fantastic!
sushi with hot sake.
or else something italian - lasagne with a lot of cheese.

in the last stages of my marriage and my association with the wts i was working in a corporation. i worked very closely with three other women and we became very good friends. for the first year or two that i worked with them they would give me christmas gifts which i tried to refuse and of course did not return.
i believe it was the second or third year that i worked with them -- it came time for the office christmas party and i told them i could not/would not go. they pleaded and pleaded but i was adamant. imagine my surprise when the whole office said they had decided not to have a christmas party -- it was now just a winter party and i had to attend. seriously, no decorations, no presents, just signs everywhere wishing everyone a happy winter.
