  125 years of the watchtower, and women are still considered garbage.. they cannot give talks, have a position in the congregation, cannot lead a study when a man is present, give a prayer etc etc etc etc.......... they can be of the annoited class, but a man who is a ms, still has more say !!!!!!!!!!.

  to all the women on this board, did this ever bother you as a jw, and does it bother you know ???.

  how can women sit at a meeting and in a round about way be treated like garbage and accept it ????

  well, they ARE a regressive cult!

  when i was in i used to lament the fact (sometimes with other female friends) that we could only go as far as our husbands in the organization. not a chance of being anything more than a pioneer (which i was) unless you had an ambitious husband.

  honestly, i really think that i had fallen into the prestige trap that so many jws do. it is all about appearances and being stroked and looked up to. it takes distance to be able to see it.

  now, i am thoroughly happy and grateful that i never was in a position of authority. think of all the bloodguilt so many of the men carry; all of the compromises of conscience and soul-selling that they do. now i feel as though i escaped that by virtue of being female.

  but this was just a happy coincidence. in general i am totally against any sexism.

  i try to evaluate all criticism with an open mind.

  i have learned a tremendous amount from people who knew more about a certain area than myself and were courageous and caring enough to offer advice. i can think of several instances where this actually translated into $ for me -- so i would always welcome constructive criticism which can help me to do or be or know better.

  that having been said, there have been posters on this forum who called me idiotic or brainless without further elaboration. that kind of criticism seems pointless to me. the intent, then, seems to be questionable and i really can't see what it accomplishes except to generate ill-will. when that has happened i have tried to "consider the source". since i don't profit in any way from that kind of bashing i try to avoid it and those posters as much as possible. who needs it??

  i posted a thread about sending a letter to my jw best friend yesterday i think.

  while doing that, i thought about a friend of mine who i went to school with, and we were already friends, but she saw me give my english teacher the "school brochure".

  after i left the portiable, she asked me if i was a jw.

  Our house fire

  folks, .

  i do not usually post stuff about my life at home, but i am in the mood to tell you this one.

  yesterday, a big truck came by our house, which created a vibration in our house, which caused a plastic spice jar to fall off of the top of the stove on to a hot burner, which caused the plastic to get set on fire, which melted and destroyed the plastic panel on the stove.
