Actually, if you look on the website, it's shareware. So the author is making $20 a copy (if the dubs actually register). Looks like a pretty decently made program, at least.

my friend (ms) is going to give talk #45 i told him it was posted here he said not possible because each congregation have different talk so this is not possible and the net is all bs and we know nothing here all we post is just to undermine the wts so if someone know what is talk #45 pls pls post it so i can show him we have the truth.

From what I gathered from my dad, who was an elder at the time, the practice of brothers writing their own public talks was ended in the 'big chill' that happened in the early 80's.

If I were you, I would still do basic Windows authentication on the NAS. It's what they call "defense in depth"--it's always better to have multiple layers. But it's only an issue if someone cracks your router. (Or gets a trojan on your PC, of course; but in that case the auth wouldn't help you either.)

144,000 is in the book of Revelation. It's not as famous as 666, but it is a biblical number. Of course, non-kooky religions generally don't interpret it literally.

yes, on july 17th, 1970, my wife and i were baptized as jws at the "men of good will" district assembly (convention today), at the oakland, california coliseum - where the raiders play.
nearly 70,000 attended, and over 750 were baptized ... and it all made the news in the san francisco chronicle & examiner and other newspapers and radio stations.
I wasn't born 'til '81, although I do have my parents' stories of the org in the early 70's. I think it was just as twisted and destructive a cult then as it is now. The difference is that it had energy and spirit--it was actually growing, and most of the members were converts rather than born-ins. I think you'll still find a simlar energy in some of the Spanish and other foreign-language congregations.
Personally, I prefer my destructive cults to be declining and dying, rather than energetic and growing. I am glad that those of you who converted as adults found happiness, at least for a time. I realize that is what attracted you to the cult. But it is also what caused us--your children--to have miserable childhoods.
Anyway, sorry if I'm laying a guilt trip on anybody; that wasn't my intention. You're all entitled to your nostalgia.
