I believe the flood account and sumerian, accadian flood accounts share the same origin. A huge local flood that remained in the collective memory of those nations (not 2400 bce but older.

There are many more flood legends around the world. WT says it is because all humans come from Noah. I believe that those legends come from huge floods after the melting ofvthe last ice age 14000-8000 years ago. The sea level eas about 120metres below todays level. That gave an enormous amount of land to inhabit which is flooded now. There were maybe civilisations that we have never heard if.

In India for example in the gulf of cambay ruins were found deep below sea level. On the japanese island of yonaguni some there are structures deep under water that some scientists believe to be manmade.

DS211: Rainbows exist when sunlight is reflectef in water sparks. Way before the flood there must have been rainbows as it rained before even the creation of man. The bible speaks of a humid climate.

The flood account doesnt contradict a local flood. The term whole earth is often used in the bible to describe some local things like the roman worldpower.

Flavius Josephus writes in his work 'Jewish antiquities' in paragraph 94-95 and 109 that many people fled to the high mountains and survived the flood (the wt society often quotes from that work). When you view it that all evil people living close to Noah died (but a lot that survived in other parts of the land) then not even this is a contradiction.

Old Literature being destroyed again!

the society are at it again.

witnesses at a local congregation are getting rid of old literature that predates the early 90's.

you can imagine why.

In our library we have some okd books like the harp of god. They are not destroyed.

first i made love to my wife, maybe i'm better in bed then i thought, because about an hour after that my wife comes back in and i'm sitting at my desk and i asked her, "when the elders df me are you going to leave me, spiritual endangerment and all" she said, no, i don't feel endangered and we talked awhile and i talked about da ing and not sure what to do, then i shared with her a toned down version of the da letter that i posted and that led to her asking about my beliefs and understandings of who the great crowd and 144k, heaven and earthly hopes.

i was even able to tell her how they changed or distorted the meaning of the word naos to show the great crowd not in heaven.

i was able to show her some of the scriptures from the da letter, able to tell her a little about 1914 and how jesus did'nt invisably come in a presence, showing her scriptures on that and some more ttatt.

Crazyguy: I am happy that you and your wife had an open discussion. You certainly feel relieved. Just continue to show a greater measure of love and respect to her. I hope the same happens once with my wife.

I talked to one geologist who is mentioned in the awake about creation a few years ago. He is an elder too.

I asked him that I find it hard to believe in a global flood and if there are some geological signs or proofs for a global flood. He said he asks himself the same questions because there is no geological evidence for a global flood 2400 bc. So he tends to believe it was a local flood.

The bible does not speak against a local flood. The hebrew word for 'earth' means actually land (the people of that time did not think of a round blue planet when they thought about earth), the hebrew word for 'mountains' can also mean 'hills'.

Scientists Pitman and Ryan proved that the black sea was flooded about 7000 years ago. Flood myths could have started when the ice caps of the ice age melted.

Crazyguy: The elders normally won't promote a divorce (jehovah hates divorce). Spiritual endangerment would be if you constantly bombard her with apostate views and hinder her in her theocratic activities.

Dear crazyguy

I briefly looked at some of your posts. I saw that you had some discussions with your wife about the topics mediator and blood. You wrote you needed to talk to the elders and you did. Then she nearly left because of spiritual endangerment.

My situation is similar to yours. I also told my wife and the elders about my doubts. That affected our relationship quite a lot because she feels that I spiritually cheated on her. I recently told the elders that I would accept and also donate blood. So I don't know yet if they will finally view me as da by action.

My question to you is. How does your wife view you now? Is your relationship better?

If you want to make it clear that you don't want to be a jw then da. Then you can find happiness in another christian church or also just by your personal relationship to Jesus. I can't tell you how this will affect your wife. If you continue to be a loving and respectful father it will maybe be good for your children as you don't have to pretend any longer that you follow jw rules and they see it.

If you da then you show them that you don't agree. Of course you could also try to fade it is not that easy to weigh

i would like to thank everyone for the discussions that we've all had.

after all of them i have realized, all of you have made me realized that after all of the stuff i have been through, i just need a good friend.

and regardless of how hostile our discussion could get i have felt that you have all shared something with me that have helped me.

I just read your last threads. I am sorry that you had to go through difficult times.

I think most of us here are going or went through difficult times. Maybe those that are replying you in a very critical way experienced the most difficult times themselves.

Sadly the core of all this distress is too often that the wt society orders to shun family members who couldn't agree with its teachings or that in life threatening situations blood, red and white blood cells, plasma and platelets need to be refused whereas most other blood products are allowed (which is not logical for me). There are even posters who lost a loved one because of this wt rule (not biblical rule because Jehovah and Jesus always allowed exceptions when life is in danger Lev. 17:15-16, Matth. 12).

Anyway Michael, I wish you all the best and hope that you find true happiness also in your relationship with our creator.
