Perhaps it is not that nature is mute, but that we don't like the answers so we keep looking for ones we are happier with?

MANY QUESTIONS,Few Satisfying Answers.
by Blueblades in"nature is mute,we question her in vain.we need a god who speaks to the human race."voltaire..
throughout human history, tragedies and disasters have raised questions in peoples minds.today, many wonder how a good and loving god can seemingly remain passive in the face of so much suffering and injustice.. confronted with the reality of famine, war, sickness and death, many reject outright the notion of a creator who cares about mankind.nothing can excuse god for allowing the suffering of a child, unless,of cause,he does not exist.by far the simplest explanation for the holocaust ie.auschwitz,is that there is no god to intervene in human affairs,ie.the genocides in rwanda in 1994.. many questions, few satisfying answers.why does god not intervene to prevent bad things from happening?is it possible to believe in a god who stands by helplessly while millions of innocent people die and whole populations in the world are massacred and who does nothing to prevent it?.
where is god?

Did I get the wrong Christmas Ornaments?
by Elsewhere ini have a small tree so i got a package of small ornaments that are about 2 inches in diameter.
when i bought them i did not notice that the tops do not have hooks like i expected, instead they have very small loops.
these loops are too small to slide on to the branches of the tree, so am i supposed to use little twist-ties or something?

One year I invited a friend and her new beau to come for dinner and help decorate my tree. Little did I know that he was an ex-JW and had never done a tree; it turns out neither had she, for other reasons. All was well, until it came time to put away the decorations. Each and every ornament they had put up, was carefully affixed so that it took for-freaking-ever to get them off. Gee, I'd never thought of twisting those hooks around themselves. Sure makes for a secure ornament!

by lurk inkingdom melodies did it for me everytime.. i tired so hard not to have uncharitable thoughts about the ppl who wrote the tunes and words to the kingdom melodies.
there were about 2 that i could stomach.. the rest were so totally uninspiring and mechanical.. .i can say that apart from maybe 2 i didnt get any up lifting joy from them.. elders complained that ppl wern't learning the tunes and singing properly.they got realy irritated over it .but i really really hate the dam songs .
eveyone sounded totally joyless

I have a question for you

Interesting story. Kind of reminds me of the Williams sisters, or Prince, or . . . any of the public figures who have become or who have been raised witnesses who don't seem to follow any of the witness rules. I do find myself wondering, however, about "but the idea of her getting away with stuff I wasn't allowed to get away with really bothered me." Would you prefer to still be a witness in good standing? Is it the fact that you were forced to give up one or the other that bothers you? Do you miss being a witness?

Music Banned by the WTS

Yesterday we bought our Very First Christmas Tree!
by cruzanheart inwell, actually, i did, but with the blessings of the family.
it's fake (too many allergies in the house to risk a real one), pre-lit, and 7 feet tall.
i think it's going to be gorgeous.

First, Country_Woman, I love your ornaments-in-the-window idea and I'm figuring out where to do that in my house this year. Second, I would dearly love to contribute a special ornament to everyone celebrating Christmas this year. Since my computer doesn't allow me to send PMs (macintosh) I can't think of how to get addresses, so you'll have to imagine my ornament on your tree!

Does anyone else still get Armaggeddon Nightmares!!
by Lainey ini haven't posted for a few weeks as i have been back at work busy beavering away, however as it is my day off i thought i would see if anyone else has the same trouble that i have, and also if there is anything they have found useful.. i have always had trouble eating properly and sleeping ever since my early teen years, but over the past couple of years or so (even though i know i don't believe the watchtower teachings anymore) i have at least 3 or 4 times a week, the most vivid awful nightmares about armaggeddon, and the different ways that jehovah is going to destroy me because of my wickedness.
i wake up in tears and shaking with fear, and then i am not able to get back to sleep, i just lie awake until the morning not daring to close my eyes.. i can't believe that as a grown woman, the watchtower teachings keep coming back to haunt me.. lainey.
ps can i also thank all the posters for the kind personal messages that i have received since i came here

You know, I'm struck by people who have been on this board a while who are still embarrassed by having been sucked in by the cult. Obviously, the JW teachings are attractive to very intelligent, loving, good people. Whether you were born into it or "bought" into it, your belief was rooted in wanting to live a good life--not a materially good life, but a life that mattered and was lived "correctly." Nobody here seems stupid or especially credulous. So let's put that embarrassed stuff away, 'kay?
