I'd allow them to continue smoking in secret. Maybe they'll start thinking more clearly. (It really works)

Children at the meetings, how did you cope
by Mrs Smith inmy son was about 5 years old when we stopped going to the meetings.
the other day i asked him what he remembers about them (his now 14 years old).
he remembered the puzzles i bought him to play with during the meetings.. he remembered that i packed a sandwich and some juice for him to eat in case he got hungry.. when he got board i use to take him outside for a walk around the kh garden.

I used to do the same with my children. I'd allow them color, draw, read books or sleep.
As adults, my kids admit they had it much better than most of their JW friends.

Don't you think perhaps Trevor wanted to end the Linda charade? That's the feeling I get.

My Mum's gone
by shell69 ina few months ago i noticed that my mum had put her house up for sale, she doesn't live far from me and i had occasion to drive past her house.. well i've had a funny unsettled feeling all week, and i drove along the back of her house yesterday, and all the curtains were gone, she'd obviously left.
feeling brave i drove round the front, and yes its empty, doesnt look like she's been gone long.
i got out and went in the back garden, and looked through the windows.

Would they kill us if they could?
by reneeisorym inif the law allowed, do you think jws would actually kill apostates?
-
LoverOfTruth
I think I read something in one of the Very Old Publications, possibly Rutherford saying they couldn't kill apostates because it was against the Law. I remember asking myself the same question, if they could, would they?

OK back to fluff for a change...has anyone had success making icecream?
by restrangled ini bought one of those new fangled devices, by cuisenart...pour the stuff into a prefrozen container and watch it turn into your dream homemade icecream....not!.
it comes out soft and soupy.
if you put it into the freezer it hardens into 1000 year old glacier like material.. it tastes good, but the texture is never where you want it.

Our family made ice cream often when my children were growing up. We had this crank machine with used dry ice. I've never tasted better stuff!

The ability to let go... Do Jws/ex-JWs have a problem with this?
by restrangled inthis is in no way meant to be an accusation.
it's just a question.
it could also be just human nature in general, or a personality type that was attracted to this religion in the first place.. it seems that several problems on this board just won't die a peaceful death.

I certainly don't obsess with my past; I'm too busy with Life.
As long as my oldest child and one of my Dearest Friends is part of the WT Organization, I will have a Vested Interest in it.

by Lady Liberty inhello again.... ok..i have the christmas bug already, and am wondering when everyone actually puts up all the clips and hang their lights?
i understand traditionally lights go on the day after thanksgiving...right?

I've had the Halloween Pumpkins out for over a week now.
I'm getting my stuff together for Christmas. . Since my little granddaughter Alison Rose came on the scene three years ago, I take this decorating stuff very seriously. I want her to experience everything her mother and my other chldren missed.

I shunned a JW today...
by zeroday ini was walking into an ace hardware store today.
i was about 15 feet from the door when i hear my name called out.
i looked toward the parking lot and here was an elder from my old hall waving and smiling walking toward me.

I personally couldn't shun a JW because maybe they're ready to jump ship.
