A hello!

hi, i'm newly awakened and just needing reassurance that the wt is indeed a mind-control cult.

i have two lovely children (under 5) and a husband who is currently asleep..

Take your time, and no matter what, DO NOT tell others the truth about the truth, not even your husband, without running your ideas through here. This is of course, a very strong recommendation. Mind control is extremely powerful, and if you do the exit process wrong, then you will lose the one shot you have to get your loved ones out. Once you are out, it becomes extremely difficult to get them to see TTATT. The best way to help them see it, is to help them to think!! Get them to think, and then you've made them do the first step to getting out...

I wish I had known about this website earlier. I went off and told a few people (perhaps around 5) about TTATT, and then I am now a ticking time bomb, waiting for one of them to hand me over to the elders.

It's been good so far... no problems. But I would recommend reading Steven Hassan's Cult Mind Control books... they not only help you get out, but provide tips on how to get your family out.

Good point Earnest. But your viewpoint may be extended to anything in the NT... From a very dispassionate viewpoint,

P45, P66, P75 are some of the oldest copies of the NT. Even older copies do not contain the word Stauros, so we cannot know if these pictograms appeared in those copies.

The copyists were clearly Christian, since the use of Nomina Sacra seems to be an exclusively Christian tradition.

The original NT could have been a totally made up story, could have been an account by eyewitnesses. Either way, we do not have the originals. We only have the copies. The entire NT is, in your words, " evidence of what people understood some (thirty to fifty) years later."

The Staurogram appearing in the manuscripts themselves is significant because, even if it was the Ankh, even if was adopted by Christians by the year 200, it at the very least proves that the copyists of the manuscripts thought that Jesus died on a cross. If the copyists were "apostate" as the WTS calls anything and anyone it doesn't agree with, then when we are reading the NT we are, according to them, effectively reading "apostate literature"... and God allowed apostates to copy the NT for us... apostates who removed the name "Jehovah" from the NT and inserted pagan symbols into the very Scriptures!

The WTS theories are so laughable....

the watchtower library cd in spanish only goes back to watchtowers of 1970. this means that, for example, www.ajwrb.org 's info regarding blood can only be confirmed in articles from then onward.

english-speaking jw's can access information on watchtowers going back to 1950. this means that the "worship jesus" article (1954) is not available, the "we officially ban organ transplants" (1967) is not available, etc.. congregations in the u.s. and canada have had witnesses since... well... the beginning.

most kh libraries have very old books; it is relatively easy to find books going back to the very first watchtower!!

This is, unfortunately, as far as I know, NOT on the Spanish WT Library. They wrote this article in response to the fact that Hebrews 1:6 in the 1961 NWT had "worship" instead of "do obeisance".

It is logical that Paul would have used "worship" since he is quoting from a verse in the Septuagint in Deuteronomy 32:43. The context obviously indicates that Deuteronomy is talking about "Jehovah"... If the original quote used "proskuneo" and is translated as "worship" because it is referring to Jehovah, why on earth would the SAME word, quoted from a verse that refers to Jehovah, when referring to Jesus, is now translated as "do obeisance"? A sad day for a JW- they lost a study 'cause of me.

a few weeks ago i posted a topic about a deaf woman studying with the jw's.

the deaf preacher from the woman's parents church contacted me to know more about the jw's because the parents were allowing their daughter to study with the jw's because "they are such nice people.

" anyway the deaf preacher contacted me because he knows i just left the jw's last year and he wanted information.. i was more than happy to provide it.

What is interesting, and I don't know why there has been so little attention given to this, is that the Staurogram appears in the actual Bible Manuscripts!!

The Staurogram was first used to abbreviate the Greek word for cross in very early New Testament manuscripts such as P66 , P45 and P75 , almost like a nomina sacra . [14]

The fact that the WTS knew about the Nomina Sacra is that there is a reference to them in the WT 1957 July 1, page 394. When they were doing the NWT, they must have come across this.

From the NWT's manuscript and versions list:

P45 Papyrus Chester Beatty 1, Gr., third cent. C.E., Dublin, G.S.

P66 Papyrus Bodmer 2, Gr., c. 200 C.E., Geneva, G.S.

P75 Papyrus Bodmer 14, 15, Gr., c. 200 C.E., Geneva, G.S.

This is significant because it pushes back the first art depictions of the cross to the second century CE. Not only that, but the Staurogram appears on Bible manuscripts themselves!!

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

mine has been getting out of hand the last 13 months.

i know a specific weekend when it started up again last june.. .

i took an extended vacation this summer hoping it would go away but events that transpired at my vacation residence caused me a lot of stress and i can't seem to stop the looping going on in my brain.. .

Hoser: Sorry to hear. Like everyone here said, it would be good if you went to see a therapist. Depending on how bad it is, you can bring it under control just with therapy. Some people need medicines that increase your serotonin levels in your brain.

One of the best therapies for OCD is, essentially, facing your fears. When this is done under the care of a knowledgeable therapist in a safe environment, it works. For example, if the OCD is related to germs, the therapist might want you to hold a "dirty" towel, and then wait, let's say... 30 seconds before you wash your hands. The anxiety level will be there, but you have to resist washing your hands. The next time maybe 45 seconds, then a minute, then two, and so on... until the fear of germs is gone. This technique has had excellent results for most patients, and will probably be taught to you (depending on your specific obsession and compulsion).

If you need meds, the doctor will advise you. But the techniques are the "gold standard"... your doctor will explain the possible side effects of the meds.
