i hadly ever see my nephew because he lives abroad.

i just love him, he's such a smart kid.

I think your approach was good. Even though we don't realize it when we are young, negative thoughts are what we hate!!!! Positive thoughts are what we love!!! When we are in a JW family, as a young person, we don't realize the negative effect on us, since it is not contrasting to anything else. The org. makes certain that there is no comparison!!!!

Don't make any drastic attempts to save your nephew, but continue with POSITIVE, KIND encouragement. I'm not big on a god figure myself, but believe very strongly that TRUE, GENUINE GOOD DEEDS are rewarded, and I'm certain yours will be.

Laws to Protect the Stupid People

have you ever noticed how many laws there are to protect the stupid people?

take the seat belt law for instance, smart people know to buckle themselves in.

we are now interfering with evolution by protecting stupid people from themselves.

Totally embarrassed to be a Canadian right now

i am listening (interpret to mean - hurting my ears and senses) to the canadian juno awards.

i know i am considered old by many on the board here but this stuff is just awful - off key - no recognizable tune - no intelligible words.

canada has some awesome talent.

Oh, come on, are we supposed to hate all Canadian entertainers now? Avril Lavigne is a prodigy, whether I or you like it or not. Shania is still great. If you want to find an excuse to hate something, look where the majority is looking....... THE WAR against ..... who again?.... oh yeah the weakest/2nd wealthiest oil nation on earth... GEEZ .... Lady Lee.... do you really think things have changed since you were young? I'm 34, and although slightly envious, if I had the ability or talent, I'd be in the exact same spot.......

i find something very distressing not to mention terribly sad about some of you people (and to those who are not one of these people i kindly ask to please don't fly into some "i'm so insulted!

" snit as if i'm wrongfully referring to you).

to those people i'm referring to i say: you rightfully hope for the british and u.s. military to destroy that saddam monster and its minions of mass-murdering/worshippers throughout iraq.

William Penwell and Simon,

You both make very valid points.

Simon: evil to JW's is a person that disagrees with them..... the only differentiating factor is the degree that they will enforce it. I have studied it after having gone through it and the same results have come up.!!!!!!!

William Penwell: Neither can I believe that a loving God has, in any way contributed to the silly stuff existing on this earth. I have heard the JWs' and every other conceivable possibility, and it all comes back to one thing: WE BLAME GOD FOR ANY OF OUR SHORCOMINGS!!!!!!!

As long as we BLAME other people/(spirits) for our imperfections, then we will inevitably fall short of our potential.

Anybody have any success getting their records from the society?

i'm writing a book and as a part of my book i would like to list my personal records with the borg.

however, i have had no success so far getting the records from the wbts.

i live in canada and they were brutal to deal with.

JT, isn't it funny how ironic that is?

My family finds me to be so potentially a negetive influence on them that even though I am going through a divorce and my wife is keeping my kids away from me unfairly, THEY STILL WON'T TALK TO ME!!!!!! And yet, other than the shunning thing I am but a speck of dust on the ground.

Yet another example of the COMPLETE HYPOCRISY of the JW organization!!!!

Anybody else have any ideas?

I'm writing a book and as a part of my book I would like to list my personal records with the borg. However, I have had no success so far getting the records from the WBTS. I live in Canada and they were brutal to deal with. The headquarters in Brooklyn were nicer, but could that possibly be because they knew that I had no chance of making their life difficult, since they are in a different country altogether?

Has anybody here gotten the records, (service report, disfellwshipping records, etc.) from the org. before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unsure and Uncertain faith...

i have to wonder...while the living word of the bible says that faith is being sure and certain of things unseen, the wts relies so heavily and is so successful promoting the "earthly-visible org".

any thoughts itching ears?

I have said to my JW family members, whenever they mentioned that I need "faith in Jehovah". I've always said read where the Bible gives the explanation and when you can explain it to me, then we'll talk.

but really, what would life be like without death?

If you're bored with life for the 80 years or so that you have it now, I would pretty much guarantee eternity will be boring too.

If you aren't bored now then you likely won't be, even during eternity.

This is all theoretical of course. My brain can't comprehend eternity yet, so it is likely still impossible for me.

Am I being too cynical?

my parents are being much friendlier in the last couple of weeks.

i was always the one that called and visited them.

in the seven months that my daughter and i have been in this apartment (i left my husband) they only came once.

If you are df'd then I would say that it is not coming from the cong. If you aren't I have no idea.

By the way, I live in London, Ont. and yeah, freezing rain has been unreal.

Causing divisions is doing God's will!

i was explaining why i can't and won't go back to the kh.

i tried to explain my feelings as best i could without annoying him or making him feel upset.

I would agree with others here and yourself that sometimes you have to be gentle and mild, but other times you may have to be really blunt and possibly even heated.

If your husband wants to take one scripture like that so literally, ask him if he would do the same thing that (I hope I have my facts straight on this one) Lot did for the men who came looking for the angels back in the day.

Lot evidently, (from the Bible's viewpoint, not mine) had God's backing. Yet when the men of Sodom and Gomorrah came, wanting to have sex with these strangers, he instead offered his virgin daughters to them. These evil men, who God was about to destroy, for their wickedness, and he thought nothing of offering his daughters to them. WOW!!!

Point being, though, that if your hubby wants to take one scripture literally, why don't they take them all literally. The world would be a terrible place if they did.

You are in for a tough argument with your hubby. He knows he is right and you know you are right. Be civil, but being nice would probably only allow him to get more power from you.
